You make me feel like I am home again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am whole again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am young again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am fun again
However far away, I will always love you
However long I stay, I will always love you
Whatever words I say, I will always love you
I will always love you
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am free again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am clean again
However far away, I will always love you
However long I stay, I will always love you
Whatever words I say, I will always love you
I will always love you
However far away, I will always love you
However long I stay, I will always love you
Whatever words I say, I will always love you
I'll always love you
I'll always love you
'Cause I love you
I will always love you
There's been a disturbing trend of late, where great songs being covered by singers with "better trained" voices, employing all sorts of tonal gymnastics, but that fall far short of the soulfulness of the originals, leaving the experience shallow and flat.
Too right. Sometimes songs are much better when they are sung imperfectly.

Lovely voice, but it seems just a little too laid back. Not the aching, lonely mood of the original.
Agreed
Really? Wow. You've been on far better cruises than I!
This song is by The Cure
I liked The Cure’s origin pretty well… but Adele did a really nice job on this.
Most of the time, I enjoy the different direction an artist takes covering an iconic song — great job on this, imo😊
As general fan of Adele I have to disagree. I think this was a huge swing but miss. Without the wistful ennui or angst to balance the lyrics, as other covers have retained, it sounds generic. I appreciate her attempt at a different style, but it was not a good choice IMO, I barely had patience to listen through it the couple times I've heard it.
AFI's cover of Head Like A Hole; A Static Lullaby's cover of Toxic; Murderdolls' cover of White Wedding; In This Moment's cover of Call Me; Lacuna Coil's version of Losing My Religion; Within Temptation's cover of Summertime Sadness; Mindless Self Indulgence's cover of Tom Sawyer (which is purposefully batsh*t insane and stupid but still...)
Maybe expand your musical horizons and you'll discover some non-slow covers. Whether you'll like them or not is a whole different story, but still...
Add in the Headstones version of Tweeter and the Monkey Man (crushes the original - yes, that's like my opinion man.)
The girls got what it takes to roll with it, but she needs to learn how to control it.
Lordy! This tune is a perfect example of her vocal control. Goosebumps of the best kind.

And I'll write it again: Why do covers always have to be slower than the original? Why not faster and harder?

how dare you, little one.
Greetings from London.
A Cuban In London.
I prefer the 311 version.
lemmoth, you really need to get back on your meds. (The fact that you can pretty much quote comments and include the whole atmosphere of the discussion is scary, but admirable.) I don't like this song, no matter who does it. And I've heard better stations in the history of the world as I know it (you left off that caveat), but I just sorta love RP. Yeah, it sometimes misses the mark with me, and others, but it also nails the mark more often than not. Well, if it was "not," I'd go elsewhere.
Try to calm down and accept the fact that there are as many opinions about music as there are people (seven billion and counting.)
Yay! Cyanera for President! Hey, why not?
You nailed it

Adele is bidding adieu to her tour.
The Grammy winner has been forced to scrap all the remaining dates on her North American trek due to a bad case of laryngitis, her label, Columbia Records, announced today.
Must be from all that smoking.
Agreed! This young woman is the real deal. A great talent.
Bill - I just don't the link between the last song, Smells Like Teen Spirit, and this Adele cover of the Cure.
Oh....that's right THEY ARE BOTH FANTASTIC SONGS AND YOU WON'T FIND ANY RADIO STATION PLAYING THEM BACK TO BACK - FOLLOWING RODRIGO Y GABRIELA NO LESS - EXCEPT RP.
WHICH IS WHY THIS IS THE GREATEST RADIO STATION IN THE HISTORY OFTHE WORLD.

This is un-growing on me.

Can you imagine having that voice, having her vocal issues, and still smoking? Tobacco's Amy Winehouse. I hope she gets scared enough to quit now because her voice is lovely.
I agree completely. Included the 'Meh' part.

Indeed!!!.. Perfect album
I'm right there with you. It's is fine, but I don't think it holds a candle to even 311's cover of this song.
Ah, I forgot 311 covered this. They actually did a fine job with it, I think. Nothing life-changing, but it was certainly acceptable.
boring and in no way even close to the original in any way. guitar work is fine, though.
Not bad. She's got a pleasing voice.

No way, but quite nice nonetheless.
Also agree. Once I overcame the natural resistance to give a chance to anyone touching such a classic I realized that this is actually pretty good.
She's trying too hard, and that squeak in her voice, which I guess is supposed to be soulful, is increasingly annoying. I had to mute this one.
Couldn't agree more. The squeeek of her and of Florence and the Machine are a sad trend.
You beat me to the "Meh." I agree.

We can do better...
I don't know. The original wasn't exactly upbeat and peppy, either - it had a very distinctly melancholy vibe to it.
I have no words...
We can do better...
I think they call that the Blues.....
Exactly I was surfing and I thought dont bother to look as its Amy ... but I wonder what Album... and when I looked I was surprised to learn it was Adele. Either way a great song and vey well pesented.
We can do better...
I've always found The Cure's version to have a definite bittersweet quality, as if Robert was maintaining a more-than-slight distance from the relationship he's singing about. A wistful, minor-key ode rather than a celebration of love. I think she builds on that aspect of the song nicely.
I love the original version of this song, so it would be tough for anyone to do it justice, in my opinion.
exactly... leaves nothing to discover down the road. I'm sure I'll get into her when everybody's over it

Per Wikipedia, "Both Sides, Now" appears in the album Joni Mitchell: Live at the Second Fret 1966 (2014, All Access Records, AACD0120), a live performance on November 17, 1966". Judy Collins' version, recorded in 1968 is WAY faster than Mitchell's version on Clouds in 1969.
The fly in this ointment is that I've never heard the actual version that Collins covered to know how fast it was.
