I was so alive I can only look back
Longer than a legend, larger than a fact
O I was so alive I can only look back
And I was so afraid I have traveled so far
Blaming the horizon, and shouting at the stars
O I was so afraid that I'd come so far
O I was so afraid that I'd come so far
And when it's all over you wont know
Just when you're comin' from when you go
And maybe somebody's gonna let you down
But you take your chances, if you only learn how
And I was so alone and I'm scattered and small
But you keep 'em on a level
You let the devil on call
O I was so alone now I'm scattered and small
O I was so alone now I'm scattered and small
And when it's all over you won't know
Just when you're comin' from when you go
And maybe somebody's gonna let you down
But you take your chances if you only learn how

Fell in love with this song when it played over the credits on an episode of "Republic of Doyle." I love my Newfies!

Really liking the harmonies - sounds like her overdubbed so blends nicely - thrown in here and there

Agreed - people complain about accordions, but I think it's more the song they don't like than the instrument. Same goes for banjos.

Not a big fan of this song, or of blues in general, but I LOVE this guitarist's tone and attitude.

Our daughters (now 44 & 41) talk about our projects together and how much that meant to them at the time and over the years. Makes it all worthwhile… Plus, I see it in their kids now.
My babies are 27 and 30 this year and they grew up in a home filled with music. Both played string bass and did pretty well at it! I went to several national kid jazz festivals with my daughter and met some great musisians at her clinics. When my son was a sullen teen, we bonded building loudspeakers and massive car stereo systems with all his buddies in the driveway- that was a high point of the male parenting experience, I mean it. They both have a deeply-felt lifelong love of music now. Score: Dad 1 / Blue Meanies 0.

Ameila is from St. John's, Newfoundland. So am I. Ain't nothing 'crazy' about accordions there :)

Well, both myself and Amelia Curran are from St. John's, Newfoundland. I can assure you there is nothing exotic about the button accordion there; it's pretty commonplace ;)
Oftentimes, accordions really add SO much to a song - giving it just the right flavor like an exotic spice.

I love these kinds of female folk tunes. I pray my girls learn to appreciate good music. Like here on Radio Paradise...

I've got 2 daughters at the age of 0 and 3. I'm sure letting "good" music flow through our home every day will affect my daughters in a way they'll someday appreciate it the way i do. That's how my parents got me to appreciate good music and that's how i now listen to Radio Paradise every day...
Cheers!
