I love my father and I love him well
I hope to see him someday soon
I love my father and I love him well
I hope to see him someday soon

'Cause where I live, it gets dark at night
The kind of dark eats up the light
Yeah where I live, it gets dark at night
The kind of dark eats up the light
And you know that, mother, I'd be lying
If I didn't tell you I'm afraid of night

And as I dream I'm falling down
The world moves without a sound
I'm lost as sure as I was found
The sun comes up without a sound

So I up and face another day
And I hope that kindness comes your way
Yeah I'll up and face another day
And I hope that kindness comes your way
This for you I pray
I pray for you today

And in the morning I'll be gone
Wherefore and to cannot be told
Yes in the morning I'll be gone
Wherefore and to cannot be told
A mind filled with memories
Weigh me down like gold

I love my father and I love him well
I hope to see him someday soon
I love my father and I love him well
I hope to see him someday soon

I thought I detected a wee bit of Scottish folk in this song.  medoras wrote:

Reminds a little me of Tom Rush's beautiful "Child's Song". Which is a good thing.
This is not music for friday afternoons

Yes indeed. Like this a lot.

Mmmmmm mmmm mmm. Oh the sweet sweet pathos
Not bad!
Beautiful song, simply wonderful :))
Nick Drake? I think not.

I suggest you listen to London Conversation - John Martyn's first album. The resemblance is uncanny and like John, Alexi was raised in Scotland.

Here here! He does sound just like him, but that is perfectly fine with me!{#Cheers}

Okay - let's pull this into focus. Almost all the folks who post here are intelligent, educated, and mostly-literate human beings. Sure, there are differing opinions about songs, and that's just cool.  And then there's Stingray, who apparently thrives on shock-value because he's got nothing else with which to make his mark.  Some of us feed the troll, some complain about him, some vilify him (I'm guilty of all), and some just ignore him. Still, his comments are like an agitated stinkbug in a paradisiac garden - offensive, noticeable, and difficult to eradicate.

So, as much as it pains me to say this, I'm voting for ignoring his posts. Think of them as commas, leading to better posts by other people.

As one wise person from a web forum once told me, "If you have a gripe, take it off the board."  From now on, if Stingray's infantile, nonsensical posts get me hot under the collar, I'll PM him. He doesn't deserve all the publicity he's been getting.

And that's all I'm saying about this.

Meanwhile, I still really love Alexi Murdoch's music, and I'll probably spend more money soon.  Darn it.

Is that a pile of shit i smell or is it Stingray again?! Are you aiming for the least-contributing-RP-listener-of-the-year-award again?

Wow, you are one sad story... Telling me - in a topic of an Alexi Murdoch song - nobody would care about another similar song, yet you think it's useful to post what some shitbrain Austrian guy would - NOT - say.

Please Stingray, do yourself a favour, don't waste your energy on posting these useless comments, try to save the last braincell that's left in that empty head of yours.

So.... If you like this, you'll love Alexi's song "Blue Mind" too... {#Moon}
I am slumped over in my chair, drooling on myself, and have a vacant look in my eyes.

I love the way this song washes over me...

Mirrorball-> Undone in sorrow -> some day soon -> and now Hold On. Oh the sweet sweet pathos.

Who the fuck cares about your "horscht"?  Get lost already Stingray....you contribute nothing.

P.S. I don't think "prick" means what you think it means.

Think i'm gonna have to see "Away We Go" because of the reviews here, my girlfriend didn't think the movie was that good though... {#Think}

But with a soundtrack like this, you can't go wrong IMHO...

Hmm...I hope all his songs aren't quite so repetitive??
I really want to get this CD.  Love the music the more I hear it.  And Stingray - I don't suppose it would do any good to tell you to take a flying leap through a rolling donut, would it?

Thought not.  {#Whistle}
Neither Amazon nor iTunes has this song... bummer.

Sincerely, Neil

My sincere condoleances too... Sometimes i think of the day i will have to say goodbye to my father, with whom i share(d) a really amazing life, and i can't imagine how difficult it must be.... However i can understand how a beautiful song like this connects with an experience like that...

Sounds very similar to Damien Jurado. Not a bad thing though.

Absolutely true. Guessing you're in the same boat as the rest of us who've lost their dads. My condolences (and what a shallow phrase, but what else can one say to a stranger who's lost someone?)  This song really conveys a sad but beautiful message.

And how weird - as I'm typing this, hearing this song, the rain started.

"I loved my father and I loved him well - I hope to see him someday soon..."

If you've lost your father and have faced the reality of your own death, this song really hits home.

I just noticed the bass drum. duh.  I'm sticking to my 9 even though it's an 8.
Great song!  Reminds me of Nick Drake.
Best song I've heard tonight!
Spot on for this morning's mellow mood.
Endearingly unsophisticated vocals and recording.

I love this song.  It's perfect after "Mirrorball" as far as keeping the introspective, soothing mood going.  {#Meditate}{#Sunny}
I love this song.

Once again, you've plunged headlong over the line. Honestly, Stingray - do you have even ONE sympathetic bone in your body?

Shame on you for your total insensitivity.

Every forum has to have one total jackass. Physicsgenius — Excelsior — Stingray. We can consider ourselves fortunate that they seem to be serial rather than contiguous. Perhaps they're the same person, who knows?

My best advice to you is "don't feed the troll."

He can play all day - sounds fine to me
I'm really enjoying this song...  All you haters, hush now!

Sounds a great deal like Alexi Murdoch to my ears, but tastes vary.

Considering which years the above mentioned artists were making music there is no possible way that any of them can sound like Alexi. The opposite is however possible. Whether this is the case or not is entirely up to you to decide.

Had to go dig out London Conversations and Stormbringer albums by John Martyn and listen to them again after hearing Alexi - some real similarities. This is not a bad thing - good music from a new name to me.

Nick Drake as well.

Yes, Richard Thompson, and a little bit of John Martyn from the early days?

Sounds reminiscent of older, mellow Richard Thompson
Where can I find this song?  Can't seem to locate it on iTunes . . . .
