I've been lost inside my head,
Echoes fall off me.
I took the prize last night for complicatedness
For saying things I didn't mean and don't believe.

Believe in me, believe in nothing
Corner me and make me something
I've become the hollow man,
Have I become the hollow man I see?

Mmmmmm I see...This echoing.

You have placed your trust in me.
I went upside-down.
I emptied out the room in thirty seconds flat,
I can't believe you held your ground.

Believe in me, believe in nothing
Corner me and make me something
I've become the hollow man,
Have I become the hollow man I see?

I'm overwhelmed, I'm on repeat,
I'm emptied out, I'm incomplete.
You trusted me, I want to show you
I don't want to be the hollow man.

Believe in me, believe in nothing
Corner me and make me something
I've become the hollow man,
Have I become the hollow man I see?
I see...

REM is one of the worst (signed) bands out there. No originality since the first album. How can anyone like that Michael Tripe. Yes - Tripe. I turn the station whenever that whiney crap comes on. He's as bad as Dave Matthews whining through every song. Get a singer or at least get some lessons.
"No originality" ~ (Lol) your music history knowledge is void!
They practically invented the College Alternative genre

BFD! Uh, 50 cent sells lots of tickets, and Miley Cyrus probably sells more tickets that REM. daisky wrote:

ummm, that's a completely irrelevant reply.  Crawlmeister said he can come up with Hollow man.  He did not say he can write Murmur or Automatic for the People.  It is because of these (and other) albums that REM are selling out arenas, not because of shit like this song.  Had this been their first record, they would have been in the trash bin a long time ago.

I see. That is why REM are selling out arenas and have sold millions of records, and you are posting to an internet radio message board under the name, "Crawlmeister." Come to think of it, you are right, you could have come up with this tune. Well done, Mr. Crawlmeister, keep cranking out those great tunes.

That's Michael Stipe?  Weird.....has he been smoking a little too much?  He seems too straight for that.....

Michael Stipe, too straight?
Um, not to burst your bubble but look here.  {#Whisper}

Nothing new here. Nothing to make me race out and buy another REM album.

This album was worth waiting for! Some of the songs are pretty crappy, but the others more than make up for it.

I love that everyone appreciates different songs on it - there is no universal agreement on which are great and which are less so. Personally I love I'm gonna DJ which a lot dislike and the only one I really hate is Supernatural. As a whole I find it a truly wonderful album and I love that people debate their favourites.

Great rockin show.
Catch them if you can.

Saw the same show in Toronto.  Bought the tickets mainly for The National, thinking R.E.M. were past their prime and washed up.  The National didn't disappoint (the length of their set did though), but R.E.M. were fuckin' unbelievable.  Great energy and one of the tightest bands I've ever seen live.

I expect this will be the best song I hear all year. Nothing short of an instant classic. I think this album is pretty weak, but this song more than makes up for it. Wonderful. Proves why R.E.M has such staying power.
AMERICA ,YES, COMMUNISM,MAYBE LATER WHEN AMERICA SUCCOMBS TO OUR OWN HOLLOW DEVICES.

No, that's just his soul. And I mean that in a good way.

...this actually sounds like r.e.m. - not particularly common over the past couple of decades...
Wait, the lyrics are semi-audible. This isn't really R.E.M.

I don't know why, but I'm just not digging this. A Ho-Hum 3 for me.

If you want to be first, and you see that no one else is, try typing something like :adfjkladk;lfjaksldf. Hit send, make sure your first, and then edit your garbage. Otherwise, your just blowing smoke.
Sounds vintage-REM-like... ...I like it.
His voice sounds damaged. IMO, the song is alright, not great but not bad at all.
Don't judge an album by one song. I think it's their best in years! MojoJojo wrote:

Love REM, everybody has some band they're addicted too..this one's mine.
Looks like people are kinda down on it, but I think it rocks hard with a great hook. 7.
