Not been here since I was a boy
The sky unwrapped, the world my toy
A movie reel a million miles long
On and on...

Scene after scene passes by my life
The window's a wound. The road is a knife
The irony, ask me, 'where have you been?'
I don't know, I don't know
Because I don't know where to begin

Too much to do, too much to see
Pictures to take, people to meet
When there's so much space in between
It overwhelms me

Scene after scene passes by my life
The window's a wound. The road is a knife
The irony, ask me, 'where have you been?'
I don't know, I don't know
Because I don't know where to begin

Not been here since I was a boy
Now heart full of fear and a mask of painted joy
So much for these youthful eyes to see
So much for peace and tranquility

One Prairie Outpost, you are how I feel:
Alone in a flatland 'tween the dream and the real
The irony, ask me, 'where have you been?'
I don't know, I don't know
Because I don't know where to begin
I don't know where to begin

Oh, what a surprise; a negative comment from napkinboy.

{#High-five} I was shocked as well. {#Roflol}
Not a fan, but like this song - and LOVE the cover - nice shot!

Amen to that, brother! I never could understand the appeal of those Smurf mimes! I mean who couldn't do that? I wonder how the Na'vi would feel about them on Pandora?

There's nothing uncool about being happy! Keep smiling! {#Sunny}

uh, no.

Weak sing-song delivery and lyrics written by a 2nd grader.
New to me.  Likey!
ahh Carbon Leaf.  such a fantastic band from good ole Virginia.  See them live if you ever get the chance. New album, Nothing Rhymes with Woman, is really great.

sounds a lot like Uncle Tuplo.
Ignore the naysayers Bill. This is one wonderfully crafted track.{#Sunny}

Why Pink Floyd's Have a Cigar is played under the title of this song ?
Sure it has low production values, but it adds to this song's charm. I think its great - a cross between a train and something...

Honestly, I am trying to understand what Bill and the rest of you (apparently) see in this band, but I am just not seeing it. Carbon Leaf definitely gets the rotation on RP that is suitable to a solid fan favorite, but to me they are ho hum. I guess I will have to try harder to like them....

It's so dangerously close to something you'd hear if you mistakenly tuned into a "New Country" station (you know, sentiemtnal diddies about being a recovering substance abuser and a new Dad, or the like) that I'm almost embarassed to say I like it ...but I do!

This could be ok if they all got in the tour bus and took off while the singer is in the bathroom. Completely undistinguished voice. Come to think of it, the lyrics are pretty bland, too.
I find Carbon Leaf's music to be lacking in something, can't say exactly what it is. The lead singer's voice grits on my ears so much, it's like he's trying way too hard.

Amen! The last two Carbon Leaf albums have been progressively wimpy.

They've got a new album that's real good!
A lot of Carbon Leaf songs remind me of childhood, but the lyrics in this song especially so. Seems to me he's singing about nostalgia and being overwhelmed by childhood memories. I also like the harmony :)
bring back Mary Mac!!!
this is a great song. as an east coast transplant in l.a., these guys always give me a little dose of home.
I think that all of their songs are so poorly written. He sounds like he thinks that his lyrics are so profound, but they just aren't. I do not consider this art.

first saw and heard carbon leaf in college in 1999. wasn't much impressed. heard them today. still not much impressed.
They should've released this one as the single.

Sound like a group out of Minneapolis called Daisy Head Mazy!

Awesome band, great album, good song. I think there are other tracks on this album that are better, but any song by Carbon Leaf has my vote for air time.
You must have noticed I've been listening: Two Carbon Leaf songs in one afternoon :) You're the best !
Saw these guys live on Saturday night for the second time. Incredible show. See my review forum....
I was glad I got in on the pre-release sales for this album (plus my copy came autographed by the band!)
Everything I've heard so far from this album has been excellent.
