coger la vereda.
Usted por enamorado
Tan viejo y con poco brillo
Usted por enamorado
Tan viejo y con poco brillo
El pollo que tiene al lado
Le ha hecho perder el trillo
¡Oígame compay! No deje el camino por
coger la vereda.
Ay, pero como soy tan sencillo
Pongo en claro esta trovada
Yo como soy tan sencillo
Pongo en claro esta trovada
Compay, yo no dejo el trillo
Para meterme en cañada.
¡Oígame compay! No deje el camino por
coger la vereda.
Ay, pero estabamo' comentando
Por qué ha abandonado a Andrea
Estabamo' comentado
malos sentimientos,
Todo se te ha vuelto un cuento
Porque no ha llegado la hora fatal.
¡Oígame compay! No deje el camino por
coger la vereda.
Ay ay ay ay, canta y no llore' Eliade'
Porque cantando se alegran cielito mío
los corazones.
No hables de tu marido mujer.
Mujer de malos sentimientos,
Todo se te ha vuelto un cuento
Porque no ha llegado la hora fatal.
Ay, húndale, húndale, húndale al mayoral.
Pero este señor está en el paso
Y no me deja pasar.
A la man... a la man... a la mancunchévere,
camina como chévere ha matao su
madre, mamá.
Indeed.
I support Cuba as the 51st state.
... open air cafe AS several glasses are consumed .... and why can't I go to Cuba any longer? Hunh? Mr White House Guy? Why not?
We've been trying to teach Cuba. Cuba is a stubborn student, resisting our blockades for 64 years. Fidel and Raul are gone. What's the problem?
We be dancin' in the kitchen!
Chair dancing for me!
las necesidades de la campana mas vaca
Correct translation:
Necesitamos más cencerro
cencerro=cowbell
One of the best concerts I've ever been to. Must have been around 2000 when they came through Seattle. Rubin Gonzalez needed help getting to the piano, but when he started playing it was like he was twenty years old. Man could he play. Omara was there too with a large brass section. The whole crowd was dancing out of their seats the whole concert.
Great show!
The song is basically a metaphor for a guy cheating on his wife.
They keep repeating:
Hey brother don't leave the main road (wife) and take the shortcut (lover).
Such an annoying song!! Lived in Miami for 30 yrs, Loved the cuban people, food, but not the music.
This World/Eclectic channel is not for you. You should be listening to the Top 40 HipHop crackhead music!

Exactly! They put these sanctions on and it just hurts the people, doesn't do anything to the rich. Besides, I don't care if they have a different form of government. The rich want one world order, screw them!! The US comes in third as the most corrupt country in the world year after year, so they should put sanctions on themselves and let us go to Cuba and dance.

Two words: Mike Pence. Think before you dump.

LOL!
I reckon this song would sound much better if played live in an open air café after several glasses were consumed.

A Nod's as Good as a Wink... .
Why we came here honey.?
We'd be in some twin town
Good thing I have a standing cube at work!
I've heard the same from a lot of my international friends that have visited Cuba: a lovely place stuck in a time warp, full of friendly, generous people and beautiful scenery.
Makes me wonder if that's because they've been spared the American influence of "money-over-all-things".
Now that the Obama Administration is moving to normalize relations after 50 years, I have only one thing to say:
See Cuba now before we ruin it.

CNN, Fox and the Nice Government Men have made their job pretty well in you
Jup. Cowbells in Cuba sound a lot better than in Bavaria! ;-)
Give me the burritos and Salma, the music will take care of itself. *
Wouldn't want to ruin it with that crap beer tho.
*And before you start, no I have no idea what that means.
¡Y son cubano!
"Ry Cooder -and Buena Vista Social Club play 'Y Tu Que Has Hecho'. Recorded live on Tuesday May 13th 1997 at BBC Television Centre, London. Features Ibrahim Ferrer and Compay Segundo on vocals, Ruben Gonzalez on piano."

Yep - I wonder if he's even smart enough to know his mistake :-)
Class case of stupidity and ignorance
Now that is one goddamn well-informed comment right there.
How do these people end up listening to RP?
What makes this comment and commenter particularly inane is that this is not music of Mexico. A bit farther east on the map.
Every time I think that the phrase 'Ugly American' is passe, I am proven wrong. This particular one 107 years old according to her CV.

And what exactly should the poor seals DO at the border?
