You could also try this Tiny Desk performance. The whole thing is worth watching, but I especially like the final song, Haidyoreke, where they really get into the groove and are clearly having a whale of a time.

More of other parts of the world please please please. Portugal, Colombia,  Brazil,  China, Mongolia, the Andes, central America, Arabia and more, all have so much interesting music. Sadly the selection of so much central African music, as good as it may be crowds out this channel

hmmm... looking over some of these comments makes me imagine "Past Conversations That Must Have Been"... (1964, translated from the French) ...I guess the music is ok, but why can't these 'Beatles' sing in French, like us civilized folks.. I would have to take issue that Gregorian chants have no 'cognizable' words, especially if you are familiar with the prayers of the church, and happen to speak latin ;)

That aside, the human voice is a musical instrument in its own right... Need it necessarily be forming cognizable words to be enjoyable? Cf: Gregorian chants. "Louie, Louie." "banana-nana-bo-bana-fee-fi-fofanna." Scat. etc.

I am exactly the same way DoofusGeezer. I don't need to understand the lyrics to still enjoy the music. And music is a universal language. You can tell from the notes if the music is sad or joyful or full of suspense. That is why music is almost always used in movies - to bring across different moods or emotions to the viewer.

So the next morning the "alarm" went off, this song was playing and the chorus was going, and scared the living crud out of me. Ever since I've had this unsettling feeling about the song. I like it but it gives me the willies too!

I want to puke. The vocals are good and the rest should die. Oh god, I have to change stations. The chorus sucks too. I hate this song. A lot.

A little too western & not enough African in this cut...too new agey for REALLY African, World Beat...still & all, pleasant enough...just don't be fooled into thinking this is REAL African stuff...

Variety is the spice of life ! A little world beat is refreshing, this station is not actually, even remotely eclectic. More like this in the mix would be exceedingly welcome. Hearing this for the first time makes me want to put it on my wishlist of new CD's.
