Trivia question - I remember a song by Knopfler and ... JT? In it, they reference workers that died building a dam. I think they referenced the Hoover Dam. I want to buy that song, but can't remember if it even was Knopfler. Can anyone jog my memory? Keep thinking it was Sailing To Philadelphia, but I doubt I'm right.
TIA

Ok, now I get it. The AC/DC leading into this was just a segue using the bagpipes. I get it. Masterfully done, Bill.
Edit:
I just looked at the setlist. Wow, what a roadtrip. Beethoven to Chuck Berry to AC/DC to Mark Knopfler. Worthy of our former DJ Corey and his Magnum PI I'll Play Whatever I Want show. Nicely done!

If I wanted to listen to a bag of wind wail on and on I'd seek out my grade 5 teacher, Mrs. Drabinasty.
I see what ya did there, Bill!
Mark is such a bad mofo!

Oh this is awesome. Great follow up to Long Way To The Top!!
football in combination w/ bagpipes...
what do i need more in my life?
More bagpipes! Less Knopfler-lite.
Hate to say it. Much as I like Mark, the Dire Straits guitar sound doesn't work for me with this song. Now THAT will wake you up in the morning!
Unfortunately; it is not impossible to play the bagpipes.
Aye, yes you do! Oui! Si! Jaaj!

Och, no wonder the Scots loved a good scrap. Who doesn't want to grab a Claymore & tear into a bunch of Romans or English or whoever after hearing those pipes. Just call me McNuggler....

Hunh. I didn't think his piping style was particularly distinctive...

Alpine, at least you are not a single guy in the military with a room mate that listens to military bagpipe music 24x7 in the dorm room. One morning several guys got together and tipped the poor bloke's cot over... while he was sleeping in it!

Please don't scream at us out here in radioland, okay? If you don't like it, turn it off. Or get up and use the toilet. That seems to be where this comment originated. most outstanding more cowbell, and bagpipes too
ps Irish eyes are smilin for the fiddle
More bagpipes! Less Knopfler-lite.

Listen to this station long enough and you can hear anything: bagpipes, Beethoven, God-awful vocals by The Flaming Lips, who knows? I would say just chiil out. It will be over soon and there will be something else that you can relate to...
Gotta love the 'pipes.
W.T.F. Make it stop.
I wish there were less Knopfler on RP. He's often played, and it's just too much of that one flavour. (That Knopfler is a flavour unto himself is a compliment.)
Love his contribution to this soundtrack. Particularly fond of bagpipes, too.

Honestly old chap, Mark desperately needs to retire. Pretty much this minute, now.

What's the difference between bagpipes and a trampoline?
You remove your shoes before you jump on the trampoline!
Actually, I love the bagpipes

Thats my song Jimmie Och eye the noo!
Mark has the touch.
"We've got a piper down, I repeat, the piper is DOWN!"
I'm a sucker for bagpipes, and the transition worked for me.
i'm not a huge knopfler fan. and i loathe bagpipes. however, i think it's just knopfler's voice i don't like, because this was pretty cool.
I've been googling like a sonovabeeyatch, but I can't find the lyrics to this anywhere...
I love his picking. No one does it like that.....yeah! :)
Kick butt.

Yeah, one of the songs where I look up from my regular work and think 'Hey, this song was actually kinda nice..", and as I proceed to view the playlist: "Ah, Knopfler, of course!"
LOVED THE PIPES! CAN WE GO BACK TO THEM...PLEASE. NO REALLY, THE PIPES AGAIN, PLEASE. <-o< WHERE'S AN EMOTICON FOR THOSE?
He didn't sing ;)
I actually saw the movie because Knopfler did the soundtrack. It's not bad- if you didn't know Ally McCoist was a former star for Rangers and Kilmarnock, you might think he'd been acting for a while.
Er, this is on RP but "four in a row" is not. That's a crime. I'll upload it now.
Lovely bagpipes, but that\'s it.
Damn! Another CD I gotta buy from Amazon.
Whilst I can appreciate the guy\'s guitar technique (although I don\'t think this particular track demonstrates anything really impressive), this track just has no soul. To me it\'s just an antiseptic and uninspired doodle. Give me the Sultans of Swing anyday - now that WAS a decent album.
WOW!!!! ROCK ON! (pimp)
What a bizarre twist. I was barely listening to the bagpipes, but within the first 1/8th of a second of the first guitar note, I knew I was hearing Mark Knopfler. The guitar is as smyoooth as the pipes are harsh!

I can come in on the middle of a song, hear a couple of guitar notes and know it's Mark Knopfler. He has a truly unique and masterful style.
What a terrific reason to stay an extra few minutes at work, though I was about to shut down. The man can write, and play?--foggedaboudit,
sweet!
Knopfler is God
Awesome Bagpipes!
I really like this song :D
You know why Bagpipers walk when they play?
To get away from that terrible sound.
