I'm a spy in the house of love
I know the dream, that you're dreamin' of
I know the words that you long to hear
I know your deepest, secret fear

I'm a spy in the house of love
I know the dream, that you're dreamin' of
I know the words that you long to hear
I know your deepest, secret fear

I know everything
Everything you do
Everywhere you go
Everyone you know

I'm a spy in the house of love
I know the dreams, that you're dreamin' of
I know the words that you long to hear
I know your deepest, secret fear
I know your deepest, secret fear
I know your deepest, secret fear

I'm a spy
I can see
What you do
And I know

I really LOVE this song!!  I was 15yrs old when this album was released & I bought it immediately!  Thanx RP!
I look less and less like myself every day, and that f#$*in Jim Morrison looks the exact same!
sounds like Jimmy Fallon

Love the sheer darkness. I am now living about a klic from the Morrison house in Arlington, VA.

three brilliant musicians and a brilliant madman.

... so there's actually nearly twice as many more that you like LESS than this one. 10.
From the other room I recognized that this piece was inspired by Smokestack Lighting, the Howling Wolf version. Never heard the song in this way before.

LOL!  I think it WAS 3am when this song became EXTRA special to me (and why it's a 10 and not an 8 or 9) - after an evening of drinking with a few ladies, I played this bad boy to my (now wife then 'lover?') and really blew her mind w/ the fact that I could 'read her mind' - a fact that I re-proved to her just this weekend and well nearly impossible to explain the impact here....so I'll leave it at that...and Long Live RP of course ;-)

You'd think if someone took their song title and lyrics from an Anaïs Nin erotic novel that the song would be a little more provocative or engaging.

Wow. Johnny Rivers to to the Doors with a loosely-bound synaptic package of word smithing.
Jim Morrison is the most prominent of the rock stars who got where he got by having two things: a big dick and the good sense to die early.

Ah, the folly of biology.

I love Morrison's voice, but this ain't my favorite either.

I was a defenseman, for goodness' sake! And since I'm from the US, I wasn't prepared for all those latino kids that could actually handle the ball. I could tackle well, but it makes for ugly football when you can't just take it away from somebody...{#Mrgreen}

Oh, BTW: A 7 for "The Spy". I like this band, I like this record, but I don't think this tune is their best work.

Pointless partisan political sparring aside, another fine Doors track for which thanks be to RP. 7 from the Nottingham jury.

One of the greatest rock bands of all time.Period.

Wingers always have an excuse for Bush. It's always someone else's is fault, someone else is as bad. When the mosquitos bite, I don't blame the birds. When it rains, I don't blame the snow. What's it in the water down there that does that?

I fail to understand how anyone could think that the words "I'm a spy in the house of love" could in anyway refer to the Bush Administration.
Well, they are really keen to spy on everybody. Why not spy in the house of love?

Opening song in the next Bond flick. #9.

I wonder what else your brain was seared with at the time...... The 'talent' that is displayed on any of the recordings is mediocre at best.
Hillary? Don't you think we have the right to vote first? Hannio wrote:

I feel it is more like a madman on the loose: I know where your children go to school.... haunting... perfect piece of music!
How about...
I'm a resident on her house of love hahaha Oscar
Wish he could be a spy in my house of love! Miss you Jim!
I know your deepest secret fears - What a great line and one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite groups. Too bad so many of us get lost in the hoopla that was Jim and the Doors, and forget to just listen and enjoy.

I think so also. It is also their most accessible because it is closer to basic blues and rock and roll.

The theme song for the Bush Administration.
A stalker song that predates "Every Breath You Take"!

Yep, it's good to hear more 'obscure' Doors numbers rather than the usual over-played stuff (Light My Fire, The End, etc). This is excellent and doesn't sound dated at all, and I love the honky-tonk blues background - nice ivory-ticking :)
Depends on which versions u r listenin' 2 - the (not so)top 40 or the full-play LP/Live versions. COSMOS of differences.
Marginally less awful than most Doors songs. I have never been able to stand them. . . fingernails on a chalkboard to me. That's the mystery of differing opinions, to reply to the person who was surprised at the dislike of the Door displayed in the comments. I'm not being sarcastic. . . some people like one thing and some another. It's what makes horse races.

Maybe here in the comments lounge, but look at the ratings....most people really like this song.
The best cover for a spy is to say you're a spy. Who would actually believe you?

Its a particularly nasty little meme flitting from one neglected mind to another. Seems to target only the really talented artists...

One of my favorite trippin' Doors songs...they ahd a knack for that.

I believe it's a reference to the Anais Niin novel...
Oh and I was... and I sang it to her... and I knew what I was doing... and I feel bad for doing it.

Jimmy was so hot! (Unfortunately now he's so dead )

Almost Goldlike 10. Morrison was the man.

Yeah, or it could be a lost outtake from the soundtrack to Woody Allen's "What's Up Tiger Lily?". That film tapped into the 60's spy instrumental spot-on.

Oh the night when all of these lyrics were right on the money...
Gosh, it had been years since I last heard this song. Thanks RP!!!

Hell yeah, let's hear some Love Street next, goes perfect back to back. Pamela's my Queen, Ray's my spritual guide, Robby's my lead guitar, and Jim's my GOD. (Densmore can go screw...)
Perfect. More Doors for Halloween! Morrison had the most distinctive voice in popular music. Densmore's groove is hypnotic on this track.
I'm about over the Doors!!!!
Fabulous
Niiiice.
Godlike.
That album also holds my favourite doors riff, "Waiting For The Sun"
so cool.
sexy, sexy, sexy...and one of the greatest albums ever

Yeah! I can think of many, many cool things to use this song for! What a great sultry beat!

I don't think the Doors are nearly as good as I thought they were when I was 17 and 18 (I ate, breathed, slept and shat the Doors back then), but it's still good to hear their better songs every once and a while.

Probably one of the best and most innovative bands ever -- in one line with Beatles and the likes. This song -- is just another good song of the Doors. So, excellent.
