I really like this song, first because it tells the tale of a local river in Northern Arizona where I live and where Maynard has his vineyard, Merkin. Secondly, The music is captivating and the lyrics speak to the power of the water.

In reference to critics of RP's playlist choices for the sake of complaining, I'm reminded of a '70/80s era FM radio station broadcasting from New Haven, Connecticut,  and whose call sign I forget, but whose on air slogan went something like, "Some songs you like, some songs you don't."

Listened to Tool in a buddy's truck the other day while were steelhead fishing.

It is going to take a few more listens.  So far not really my cuppa but there is no denying how tight it is.  I totally get why Tool enjoys a big following.

I always got the impression APC was more Billy Howerdel's project whereas Puscifer is mostly Maynard's baby.

I went away for over a year solely because of this and other 'bands' of this ilk being on virtual repeat.... having come back the mix has gone back to what it used to be thankfully and this sort of trash is only played occasionally thankfully!

Singing my home... the Verde River runs through Cottonwood , Az and down through Camp Verde, eventually running into the Salt River above Phoenix. Maynard's home is in Jerome, Az. The view from his east-facing window overlooks the Verde River in the Valley below.

I tried his "Anubis." The grapes came from CA because his AZ vineyard is still being established. The vines are young. The wine was very good. At the time (about 2 years ago) he only had one vintage from AZ and it was pretty pricy. I'll probably get a bottle one of these days though, to see if it is any good.

I couldn't say what the lyrics are about....but The Verde River they may be singing about......well there is one in the Phoenix AZ area....
