Actually more like Bill Preston "Outa-Space"!
what a shot you would be if you could look at me with those

My apologies for leaving my big, heavy, swingin’, N'Awlins hanging out.

I hear it!
Love that down & dirty sax.
Some Herbie Hancock in it. Nice. Please some more. Love RP

this song is why I need a better stereo in my car... just can't get loud enuf!!
This sounds like part of the soundtrack from Fletch or Fletch Lives but those movies were made in the mid 80's.  Great groove! 8 maybe 9 soon...

I know what you mean but they are not to blame. Bill Withers asked for it, didn' t he?
A very serious and sincere thank you to kcar for forever coupling these dancing goats in my mind dancing to this tune by Galactic.

I may need an intervention, can't stop watching ...
Awe yeah! I like this.

Fifteen years I have been dialing in to RP.

It never ceases to amaze how you tickle my stereociliaic bundles.
Wow, never heard of them and I love this!
Cannot believe how many albums they're produced sine... 1996!

Once again, thank you RP. You do seem to know how to keep my donations coming.
Speaking of which, excuse me I have something to do. 8-)

I find this applies to a lot of NOLA bands

Totally agree. I saw them in '97 in New Orleans, when I lived there. Such a great show. I bought a CD off them and when I played it at home I told my girlfriend that there's no way this is the same band we just saw...

Completely agree, they are such a fun band to see live.
Seen them 3 times
Hoping they come back to Dallas soon

Just hear the baseline from this (and what a magnificent one it is)

Gil Scott Heron - The Revolution Will Not Be Televised - YouTube

Oh and BTW great tune.

Just love Bill, Rebecca and the team for doing this. Over the years I have lost count of the number of times I have been introduced to something new.

Long live R.P.

If this isn't funky enough for you I don't know what is.
Nice seamless segue from Driven To Tears....I thought it might have been some live Police....no...just the genius at the controls.
Saw these guys when I lived in NOLA back in '97. Tehy mostly looked like a bunch of kids on stage, but they were really great. I bought their CD and was excited to be able to hear their stuff at home, but when the CD played the whole thing sounded like it was recorded through a pillow case. None of the bite that hearing them live had. I was disappointed.
Fonk outta NOLA. What's not to like. Bump!

That's probably why I'm at an 8 already on this grooviness….not quite a 9 though.....LLRP!!
Whoa dude 8-)
Caught these guys at the Top Hat in Missoula a couple years back! What a show! Brass, Stanton Moore on the drum kit, Maggie belting out the vocals...WOW! Look for them. Such fun! And dress lightly as you gonna sweat!
I hear "use me" from Bill Withers..
Gotta bump it to an 8 for the great groove!

I thoght I smelled Goriollaz! Mighty fine tune.
A truly monumental groove... I have always thought it reminded me of something I'd heard and jammed to long ago but not lately... Tonight, hearing it loud enough from the other room to hear it from a new acoustic, I realized: it is exceedingly reminiscent of The Charlatans' "Feel Flows" from their '94 album Up To Our Hips, right down to the irresistibly funky Hammond twists near the end!

I'll second and third those motions! :P
Reminds me of these Miladojka Youneed. Pretty cool.
Just saw that these guys will be in Park City this month and - BAM - Bill plays me some.

Saw these guys this summer on a double bill with Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue.  New Orleans funk at it's finest from both bands.

whatGroup what is their best cd? Love this song
that is a cool, funky thang… sounds like mr. g has his motown on today…
So happy to hear some Galactic on RP! Coolin' Off is one of my top 5 favorite albums of all-time. I would love to hear some of those old tunes on RP, like Funky Bird, Stax Jam or Church.

They put on an insane live show, as well!
gave it an 8 before hearing any vocals---is this an instrumental?
the party starting in my room while putting laundry away!
shuffling my feets but it was too short
Neat
RP is the best radio station in the Universe. End of story.
Used to go see these guys in New Orleans when they were just starting out.
Much better live.
Super Slick sound! we're being used in very much the right way

Nice!

Frankenstein-ish
Saw these guys in Boston last week - they were great. The Soul Rebels opened and joined Galactic for a few tunes - a major horn-fest. Definitely a fun party band - they had the House of Blues packed and dancing...

No, it's not "completely ripped off".  It sounds very similar and is obviously influenced by that tune and many others of that era, but it is a very different riff; you may want to look up the definition of the word "completely".  This kind of a groove is an homage to that era of music - they're even mimicking the keyboard and fuzz sounds of that time.  They're not trying to deceive anyone - especially not the astute music detectives here.

How wonderful to know that someone else loves that band too!  Bill has a couple of his songs on here, but they don't get much play (and the audience doesn't really react that well).

Wow has this number not been played in almost a year, or just no-one decided to comment.

Did any Columbus RPer's see this band at Newport this past Saturday (4/12)? If so, how was it? I almost went.

Yeah!
We are singing "digging in the dirt."
BRING IT!
funkeh!
Wow... that was a really jarring transition from Break out my Gun to this. The cross fade didn't line up right or somehting. Sorry Bill, I normaly love the way things go together, but that really grabbed my attention in a not so good way.

I wouldn't eat it but perhaps I would take that discarded cheese sandwich and metmamorphasize it into, I dunno, a miniature version of the Andrea Dorian or the Nina . At that point, it might actually be more appealing and people might think: "Damned if he didn't take that ordinary cheese sandwich and turn it into something more creative and surprising." Any such accolades would erase those nagging thoughts that I was being merely lazy. I mean, how easy would it be for me to make my own cheese sandwich, when I have the foreknowledge that muenster makes a more solid ship replica? The challenge of using whatever bacteria YOU threw away might require more neural activity, dontcha think?
You could then sell it on Ebay. Of course, you'd make more money if it looked like Jesus.
i bought the cd, one song maybe.
Sounds a bit like this here...: ...
Good groove! I like it!
Please. . . someone upload any other Galactic album. This is by far their worst stuff, but still ok.
Looooove Galactic. There are better tracks on this album, though. "Paint" is one of them.
Awwwwwwww... YEAH!
Cool thing. That's worth an eight.
