I roll the window down
And then begin to breathe in
The darkest country road
And the strong scent of evergreen
From the passenger seat as
You are driving me home

Then looking upwards
I strain my eyes and try
To tell the difference between
Shooting stars and satellites
From the passenger seat as
You are driving me home

Do they collide?
I ask and you smile
With my feet on the dash
The world doesn't matter

When you feel embarrassed
Then I'll be your pride
When you need directions
Then I'll be the guide

For all time
For all time

+10 on the segue from Into Dust to this.

I must listen to the whole album - I always like the DCFC tracks as they're played on RP - I thought this sounded like Elbow - had to take a second look!

yeah, not for me. has that early aughts im-not-in-a-frat-im-in-a-band college boy voice. no shade on anyone's love for them, but not for me.

excellent reminder to have more Eno in my life

niiiiiice
Bill G., you are killing me tonight. First, Tom Waits ("telephone ringing, it's your second cousin") then Passenger Seat....thanks, as always
I absolutely love his voice
Transatlanticism is, and shall remain, in my all-time top 10 albums.

Like DCFC and The Antlers equally. Does RP play the Antlers sometimes?

 Enjoy the ride.
Sounds like one of those where the guitar player wrote and played the piano part.

I would love to hear Roland Orzabal (Tears for Fears) cover this.

this is meh.

I feel the same way about Thursday Afternoon.  That one  will likely not be played here either.

Pope said today that spreading false news “probably the greatest damage that the media can do.”

Using exceptionally strong language, he used the word “coprophilia”

From what I've heard of them on RP I'd say they have enough material to mount their own exhibition.
Nauseating!

DCFC is not afraid to set a mood and take their time.

In a world with full volume aggressive in-your-face thoughtlessness, this is a good thing.
OK, I guess.  I would much rather listen to music.
Can't listen to that voice... No.
Love it!
I have been a big fan of Death Cab for Cutie; this song sounds a bit different from what I have heard from them before but it is really nice; contemplative music.

I'll have to speculate because I don't have much to go on here so far as clues...I think ambient music would put a lot of people to sleep.  There really is not a single ambient song played on RP.  It would be difficult to fit into the playlist I'd bet, and a lot of people would complain.  I think Music for Airports is one of the greatest works of art.

Love the intro to this song.
like these guys a lot... along with bare naked ladies...kinda similar, but not. definitely not everyones cup of tea but enjoyable none the less
Love this song.
So peaceful yet eloquent.  Thank you RP.
This guy suffers from Low T...
I see a picture from Bangladesh... Passenger in rickshaw seat .. COOL ;)

Yeah. I heard the opening notes of this and said "Brian Eno?" to myself.

Sounds more like the "Postal Service" stuff, don't it?  (Which is a good thing).

...or have synaesthesia. I know what RadioDoc means, about this having a "musty" atmosphere. I'd probably apply that to most of DCFC's songs, most of which seem to be about death, dying or illness. For all their toe-tapping poppiness, they do make me think of places like Undercliffe Cemetery in Bradford, a strange and imposing necropolis with gothic tombs and baroque gravestones. I'd put DCFC into the same electro-Goth category as Depeche Mode. I like them both very much, btw.

I just start to dig these guys. They are not great inventers, but their music is "sooo good for the ears" (c) {#Angel}

You and me both.  Who can explain it?  It must be about yin and yang.

Stay positive.  I give the song a "7"
I hear the rain outside my office window, and I hear the rain on the windshield of the song's car...
I like a lot of their music but I wish this band (and Vampire Weekend) would change their name!

Pretty much what we all are, passengers in this death cab called life on planet earth.

Good morning from the west coast, I like this one, giving it a 7.

I am getting a lot of static while this one plays.  Making an already marginal piece even worse.
Follow this up with Sniff 'N' the Tears, "Driver's Seat"?

Brings back some memories. Bittersweet.

One of the more delicious tracks from this, the more delectable pre-Plans, album.  Nothing beats "We Looked Like Giants" with the windows down, but this track is a close second in my book.

Moving; powerful imagery; better production.

We looked like giants is definitely a favourite. This whole album is much better together though than by tracks. Ben Gibbards voice resonates swimmingly with the music and lyrics, its almost chilling.

Beautiful imagery. I could almost feel the cold air and smell the pine. {#Meditate}
This song smells like a musty basement.

I just don't get it. And I'm even from Portland.
Brian Eno piano + Postal Service vocals = This Song Works though.

Me, suck it up, walk it off, rub some dirt in it, man up, etc. etc.

I love it. Love the imagery, love the way he sings, love it. Not sure exactly what this "emo" stuff is, as I am old and grey, but if that's what this is, it works for me.

Ever since I heard 'Styrofoam Plates' I've been a Death Cab fan. First to admit it ain't everyone's cuppa joe however. Plaintive? Whiny? Yes and Yes. I still really like it, but then I'm chronically depressed; maybe the plaintive whining just resonates with me. c.

The imagery is exceptional... to think of being, or having been, cradled in comfort with your life literally in someone else's hands. It has a natal quality to it. It moved me when I heard REM's "You Are The Everything" back in '90-something, and no less now.

Hmm... I don't seem to enjoy DCFC much after 2001.
i love the little art-garfunkly thing he does with his voice toward the end... so sweet.

Angsty. You could very well start your own emo band! Save that angst; it's worth money!

This is Godlike. Amen.
Love this. Love them.
Funny, I always felt this song to be very ethereal, yet heartfelt. Like it very much. Reminds me of something in my life that happened, but not yet.
Tendentious and pretentious, definitely not among their best

I dig this one. In fact I really like the whole album.
I love this. But it sounds like someone singing over an Einaudi piano piece.
wow -- why has it taken so long for us to get this track? this stands head-and-shoulders above the other death cab stuff we've heard so far.
One of the most beautiful tracks on the album, the story is so blatant, but I think that's really what makes it great.

i'm so happy to hear this great band - and Ben Gibbard's other band Postal Service as well - on RP. hits the spot every time.
i'm out here... ;) i haven't heard this album yet.
Heh. The other person to rate and myself both pick 8. :) Who's out there?
Zzzz....
