Someone call the ambulance
She's completely nude, standing on the fence
She's about to fly, phone the doctor quick
She's a house on fire whenever she gets lit
I'm laughing with nothing up my sleeve
Here come that gal of mine like a storm across the sea
She broke my heart when she pawned my ring
Then she stole it back, what will tomorrow bring
Mercy, vengence, Lord above
How can I refuse her love
I'm laughing with nothing up my sleeve
Here come that gal of mine like a storm across the sea
There's a Ph.D. on the radio
Says the next of kin is the last to know
She grabs the dial, jumps up on my lap
Starts to lick my face like a Persian cat
Hear me laughing with nothing up my sleeve
Here come that gal of mine like a storm across the sea
She's completely nude, standing on the fence
She's about to fly, phone the doctor quick
She's a house on fire whenever she gets lit

Yep, hearing Beck's "Sea Change" in this one too... but no complaints, doesn't matter to me which one was first.
Always a great show and he's a damn fine guitar player to boot!

Same chords, but he's doing it vocally like a blues. Edie's tune was more hippy, trippy. Of course now that you mention it, the similarities are growing....

I love hearing this absolutely amazing song on a cold snowy morning - warms me from the inside! and really wish I could see him do it live.

Seriously disoriented by so much of it sounding like Morcheeba...

Chuck Prophet sounds more like an imperative than a proper noun... ;-)

Just saw Chuck play a 3 hour epic free show last Friday. Awesome entertainer with a great band.

Saw him at Earle Fest couple years ago (Santa Rosa, CA) and really enjoyed him. Especially "I Have A Good Day Now and Then."
Yes, please play more Chuck Prophet.

Groovy....
Seen him seven or eight times. Great every time. And one of the best guitarists I've ever seen. Hits the nails right on their flat little heads with every solo, and the note paintings are subtle, like in this little gem here ...
Fun trip-hop. Feets tappin
Feelin vibes of Morcheeba's The Sea

I saw him a year or so ago in a tiny club and I'd agree; they really seem to be having fun on stage; no pretension whatsoever. He's got a great voice IMO.
Caught Chuck Prophet last night at Off Broadway in St. Louis, great show! The sound was good and looked like they had fun.

The more I hear this guy the more I think he is going to be around quite awhile.

Love the wah-wah. Nice to see it making a comeback.
Cool song.
Cool song.
More Chuck Prophet, Bill!
I've been listening to RP for almost 8 years now and don't ever remember hearing this song. Seeing the range and dates of song comments, it doesn't appear to have been in all that heavy rotation. I like this song as well as other Chuck Prophet stuff that RP has introduced to me.
What a deep playlist!

I guess he was a prophet. This describes the Brittany Spears freak incident out to a T — well done sir.

I guess he (or his producer) listened to a lot of Serge Gainsbourg's songs, "Melody Nelson" era. The strings arragements are very similar...

To all you... this Chuck guy sounds like Beck comments.
I'm pretty sure Chuck has a few years on Beck, not many, but a few (like 7) and it's probably the other way around.
Or... they're both very talented and write and sing good stuff that have similarities.
I kind of prefer Chuck over Beck myself... just sayin :o)

Follow this up with Morcheeba - The Sea. Would be awesome!

I saw Chuck about a month ago and he rocks! I think he is VERY talented and the new album is great. Even Dylan said he was good. He has the whole package, songwriting, vocals and great live show.

For a moment when I heard this, I thought someone had ripped off Chuck's "Summertime Thing." Then I looked and saw he'd ripped off himself. Can he do that?
Very Beck-like with a cool blues guitar.
Very good 9

Great tune, great album.
What's not to like (even though I like some of his other stuff better)? A solid 7.
I'm liking this tune... to think I first heard this guy when I received a new Dell for University in 2004 and a copy of 'What makes the monkey dance' came with the windows music player package :-)
The strings are Beck a la Sea Change. Very mellow.
It's a sign!
I'm going to see Chuck TONIGHT!
Ooh! yay! I like, its smooooooooth!

Give this album a chance. One of my "selects", out of hundreds of CDs I have about 6 in the car and this one made the cut.

Has Chuck been listening to Zero 7? Me likey.

Perfect how everything works together in such a subtle, but convincing way! Only once a bit of Fender Rhodes(?) piano somewhere in the middle, for instance.
This almost sounds borrowed from Morcheeba. Like them too.
this is what happens we composers insist about singing their own songs...
Saw this guy open for the Old 97s in Chicago last fall. Not bad at all. He's got a good band behind him.
This would segue very nicely into Morcheeba's The Sea.

I just got my No Other Love CD from UPS . Thanks to RP for turning me onto such a gret artist. The CD is what I would picture in Q Terantino's CD player. Funky, and definately groovable.

I hear a little Shawn Mullins in his voice/style. But I like it.

Really? You think so? I definitely hear the Beck...but Baerwald has a lower range he goes to I don't hear here. Speaking of David & David, I've got their disc in my player as we speak. Solid album.
This is a really solid tune...great production and performers. Like it!

LOL, I worked at Disney for several years in the early eighties, and some of the best times happened during the 'Employee Day' at the Kingdom, I've ridden SPACE Mountain with a little extra mind expansion. The worst, however, was 'It's a small world'. I haven't been the same since. (pimp)

Or stick with her until one of you starts shooting. More entertaining that way. I wonder if she's also the one from "Livin' La Vida Loca"?

I bought this CD sometime back. The whole thing is really good. Sometimes Bill, I think we are shopping at the same CD store.
This is the guy from Green on Red isn\'t it ? Since I came to the states I haven\'t heard much from those guys.. more popular in England and they come from the states.
Song aint half bad
Niiiiice comfortable jam. And he sounds a hell of a lot like Beck. Good to know someone else has similar ears. ;)
