Why here
Why now
Why so early
Why you getting down on me
You know you're a
Beautiful person
But just now
You bother me
It's so coincidental
You reaching out for me
Just when I got
All this money
And you
Footloose and fancy free
I love you like a broth
I'll help you find you feet
But don't take advantage honey
Your feet ain't under me
Why so tall
So young
So handsome
You get the best of me
In your eyes
I see a reflection
You the beauty I'm the beast
You got yourself a lover
Can't take for a ride
But you know I love you honey
I cannot lie
You want some money
Kiss and cuddle too
Take it all now baby
It's always been for you
I can't lie to myself

I'm quite sure that she loves him like a male sibling, not like a clear soup...the interwebz serving up another helping of ooopsies...

Me thinks that Sly & Robbie really wanted to be lead on this recording. Would have made them look better if they had more appropriately mixed themselves in as the backup, or accompanying band instead. :-[
An old flame. X
Bill, you gotta play Show Some Emotion (#2 track on a 1977 LP named eponymously) by Joan A.
Killer vocalist with a badass rhythm section.

It's pretty busy.
Armatrading's voice is overwhelmed by the instrumentation. Whoever mixed that should be kicked. Then kicked again for good measure.
It's pretty busy.
This comes from Joan's awesome "Walk Under Ladders" album, including Sly and Robbie, Thomas Dolby and Tony Levin, among others. Steve Lillywhite produced.

Good to see you've got that all taken care of.

Just downloaded this! Thank you for helping to expand my music library.
wow, cool, a funky Joan Armatrading track I don't know! a gift. Somehow I missed this one - I didn't like Ladders much.

No. The album is by Jamaican rhythm-masters & producers Sly & Robbie. Joan is a guest vocalist (& songwriter of this track, which is why she gets the artist credit).
Im guessing there is a slight error with the album art.

On the first few bars I was thinking Patti Smith. I agree, more Joan! It was nice to hear her.
In certain parts of this the vocals sound like Devo.

I caught on to Me Myself I decades ago, she's unique and wonderful. Great lyrics that really mean something to me

Ha ha! Indeed - many might knot know Sly and Robbies influence within the Reggae industry.
I saw them play a few years ago and was pretty excited to hear them, especially as I am a HUGE fan of most things Reggae. Anyway, I was rather underwhelmed by the experience and found it difficult to understand how some of the amazing things I had heard on record did not match the live experience by a country (and not a country and western obviously!) mile.
I like J.A., but why try playing reggae with musicians who obviously are not capable of it? Oops, Sly and Robbie? Well, never liked them anyway.

I love this song... but would also love to hear \"The weakness in me\" on RP as well...
Just a thought..
Every time RP plays (look-alike) Tracy Chapman, I can't help but thinking; 'nice, but I wish it was Joan Armatrading instead'. Well, here she is! A good one.
