Oh, Pappy left a chair like he's still sittin' there
Once I almost saw him make his move
Brave Indian who never changes his mood
In a painting on the wall right there

Oh, how long 'til the morning wakes
Oh, how long 'til the medicine takes

Oh, Sally buffalo in the apartment just below
Just a bein' without a care
Oh, children from my brood they come and bring me food
Maybe open up a window for air

Oh, just now I smell the cornbread bake
Oh, now, now, now I feel the medicine take

Just like home
Where the stray dogs go through it all
Still right here, still just here,
Brave little friend

Well, we got a party goin' on many spirits strong
Ain't preacher just a happy to meet ya
Half a bottle 'neath the bed keep our spirits fed
My hat's off to you, to you and you

And now our brave friends, too, dancing circles through the room
And a broom and a radio and a twistin out a dos-e-do
Brand new day, the whole world's goin'
Whole room's goin' so

Just now, don't hesitate (hesitate)
Oh, taste the morning break (morning break)
Sweet, sweet, young honeycomb (honeycomb)
On, now, now, now just like home (just like home)

Oh, just like, just like home
Where the stray dogs go
Oh, oh, rest my bones
Like a fresh skipped stone to it all

Still just here, still right here,
Still just here, brave, brave friend

I cannot help but wonder if you have a clue what you are talking about. I don't necessarily expect that legalization will stop illegal grows, but in the present ideal world where government and big pharma are outsiders (maybe), people get killed for accidentally hiking into grow operations, police get paid off and smugglers also bribe their way across borders, etc. If that is not a definition of corruption, please clarify. Also, if you can find a government composed of humans in a society where there is any wealth, or access to it, and where corruption is absent, please inform us!

So we agree, then.

One one hand support and legalise a plant that has endless benefits (and mostly not connected with getting stoned) and on the other demonise totally corrupt industries (big phama and tobacco).

Sound like common sense to me. . . but if you buy into what the government and the lobbying corrupt industries have been feeding us for all these years then I can see how one might not be able to see how completely fucked up the current system is.

It's all about the money, isn't it?
Check out Artist Fred Tomaselli, he has done fabulous art pieces that employ actual pills and hallucinagenics mixed into the paint surface, typically they are images of birds and flowers, quite excellant!
Tomaselli's artwork has been on the front cover of several albums. He designed the front cover artwork for Laura Cantrell's third album 'Humming by the Flowered Vine' on Matador Records. His painting, 'Gravity In Four Directions', was also used as partial cover artwork for The Magnetic Fields' album "i". He also has artwork featured in The Wilco Book, a book made by Wilco, the band. His artwork is portrayed on Phish's eleventh studio album, "Joy", which was released September 8, 2009. His art also appears on the cd by Elysian Fields "Dreams That Breathe Your Name" released in July 2004.

Reminds me of the big signs posted in some doctors' offices where medicinal marijuana is now available: "We can only prescribe marijuana for these conditions: ..." and a list that (presumably) a patient should carefully consider before discussing things with the doctor.

1) What's wrong with middle-class-turned-hippies-on-drugs, anyway?  (Are you sure you got your words in the correct order?)

2) What about us old farts that like this music?  Are we also hippies on drugs?

3) My favorite bars in Georgia ARE cash only.  We allow all kinds to happily drink themselves into oblivion while listening to WSP, Alan Jackson, the Reverend Al Green, Outkast, or the Atlanta Symphony.  An Atlanta Symphony intermission is an experience in well-toned, well-dressed, well-groomed party animals — and the Symphony's bar is cash-only.

Wow, lighten up. What happened to you two guys?

Something very dark, very traumatic as a child?

I wish you both continued happiness skewering through social commentary, you help us all.

May Michael Houser RIP, but I just never have "gotten" Widespread Panic. None of their stuff makes me sick, but... well... they so perfectly fit the "ho-hum" rating.

Love hearing Panic on RP...keep 'em coming!
Always happy to hear WP!
Just plain nifty
I started listening to WP in '03. Back in October '06 I was lucky to see them live. It was a fantastic show. This is obviously one of their more laid-back songs. The highlight for me was "Radio Child"; it's one of their 'rocking-est' songs. John Herman's (or is it Hermann? ) Clavinet work on that song is superb. As a keyboard player, I think he is one of the best keyboardists today.

I see that the medicine hasn't quit taken just yet.
After hearing this, and Speedy West a few tunes back, I thought I was on www.steelradio.com, an all-Steel Guitar internet radio station. But its good ol' eclectic, frenetic, cerebral and varietal Radidio Paridisio!
Dead-ish?

Did you do that on purpose, Bill? Be Good Tanya's - Light enough to travel off the album "Blue Horses" followed by Widespread Panic - Blue Indian? If you did, I caught you!

Surprise Valley transitioning to Bear Gone Fishing leads this album off.....very sweet. After taking off '04, they are back on the road now, coming to town soon!!!!

I like this song more each time I hear it.
I could listen to this kind of music all day.....
Reminded me of Leon Russell.
Very interesting sound, and I like the singer\'s voice.
Everytime I hear the panic, I am reminded of Michael Houser\'s demise. The band will never be the same, but I do hope they continue on. Micheal Houser
Pretty good. A little slow but I liked it. Definitly better than anything you will hear on the radio.
