I'm a big pedal steel fan and Robert demonstrated the instrument's versatility here and on his other recordings.
Straight all out rock. Excellent!
People keep saying I thought this was Carlos. Sure, the tone is the same but the improvisation is miles ahead of anything Carlos ever did. Plus...Carlos could never make them chord changes.
No way!

This is Carlos Santana!

I gotta see this band!

Because there's some long notes and bongos?! Right.....

or maybe because it sounds like it is either influenced by Carlos, or has many of the same influences? Wondering who it was made me come look, because back brain thought maybe Santana . . . no, that isn't him on guitar.

Still kicking!  I saw them in NYC about...2-3 years ago.  Robert quite often does guest appearances with other artists.

Great music from Randolph!

With all respect, did you ever see Santana play? This guy sure has chops and his band is tight as hell, but he is about maybe like 65% of Santana's intensity and raw emotional power.

Me too. Another new musical experience for me, courtesy of RP.
The Santana similarities aside - I like this.
8 to start for me!

I'll join you in the rain, my friend.  I'll bring the brolly.  Stunning stuff.
This is the ONLY RR & FB cut on R.P. ?
A bit remiss.
Run For Your Life, Deliver Me and, especially, smokin' hot Squeeze should be here.  I loaded them from iTunes. Take it from me, someone should submit them. Bill?

Santana's sound circa 1970! {#Cheers}
good call :)
I saw Robert Randolph a couple of months ago. He's like Carlos Santanna of the steel pedal guitar. Just amazing.

When they say "Family" they aren't kidding. He's up there with uncles and cousins... I think his dad, too.

Better than Santana.

I'll get me coat.....
This does it for me! Need a Santana fix right now too. Mahavishnu Orchestra maybe?
Superb. More of this please.

WOW !!!  Didn't know there was any Robert Randolph in the playlist.  He can certainly make that pedal steel sing.

Bill, you should check out his cover of "Shake your Hips".  He puts Joan's version to shame, IMHO.

These guys are all top-notch musicians and I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone play a pedal steel like he does.
very nice tune!
I was in a Manhattan night club 5 - 6 years ago. The DJ put on Robert Randolph and Band's 'Squeeze.'  Stupendous track of music. DJ played it twice, about 2 hours apart. Second time, about 1 a.m., the music and the energy seemed like it was going to blow the roof off the joint.

been seeing these guys in the NYC area since the late 90's.  extreme talent, and a welcome addition to RP {#Cowboy}
Robert Randolph on RP, Finally.
Wonders never cease, Thank you Bill !!
I too thought this was Santana at 1st. So cool to hear this, never heard of these guys. I just saw Ringo Starr and the All Star band 2 nights ago. Gregg Rollie and band shredded 4 Santana songs, have been in a Santana kind of mood since then.{#Bananapiano}
Stopped what I was doing to check out who this was....nice. 7.
Glad I'm not alone in thinking that it was Santana.
Yes, Santana without Carlo Santana's guitar.  I keep expecting it to come in....
