Well you're not from around here
You're probably not our kind
It's hot from March to Christmas
And other things you'll find
Won't fit your old ideas
They're a line in shifting sands
You'll walk across a ghostly bridge
To a crumbling promised land

If Jesus came from Mississippi
If tears began to rhyme
I guess I'll start at the beginning
It's a world of strange design

Well I'd like to have the ocean
But I settled for the rain
I humbly asked for true love
There was such a price to pay
This room was filled with trouble
And sacraments deceived
Now I'm a jewel in the shade
Of his weeping willow tree

If Jesus came from Mississippi
If tears began to rhyme
I'll have to go back to the beginning
In this world of strange design

We talk about your drinking
But not about your thirst
You set off through the minefield
Like you were rounding first
So open up a window
And hand the baby through
Point her towards the ghostly bridge
And she'll know what to do

If Jesus came from Mississippi
And if tears began to rhyme
We'll have to start at the beginning
In this world of strange design

We talk about your drinking
But not about your thirst

Such an impressive lyricist. Incredible in concert. I LOVE Rosanne!

Right? I can always tell it's him.

Heard her sing "I Still Miss Someone" today on an old RP cd I made. She makes every song seem like she owns it. IMHO.

Yeah...   First Allman Brothers (Southbound) followed by this beautifull song with Derek Trucks on slide, very nice !

Just wanted to add - if you have the opportunity to see her, go for it.  We saw her at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago.  It's a very intimate venue.   She was accompanied by her husband John Leventhal.   Mesmerizing.   We all looked at eachother in amazement after the final encore!
I had to go to a computer to leave a comment. I didn't recognize this and I'm not very familiar with Rosanne Cash aside from what most people know about the family but that was obviously Derek Trucks on guitar.
Damn good song.  Especially the line "We've talk about your drinking, but not about your thirst".  Well done.
I guess I don't have to ask if that is Derek Trucks.
I saw her live shortly after this was released. She didn't miss a note the whole evening. She's awesome.

I used to think Ms. Cash just played on her father's legacy. But I've come to realize she is a powerful force in her own right.
Derek Trucks just sweetens the deal.

Love this song.  Derek Trucks a perfect compliment.
We're going to see her tomorrow night—acoustic with John Leventhal. Can't wait.
IMHO, her best album.

...and that's why it's a solid 1 for me!
Roseanne Cash's name bumped up my rating....

Came here to post the same thing.  Love the sound.
We talk about your drinking
But not about your thirst

Unmistakable sound of Derek Trucks
Enough of this song. it's reached saturation for me.
Crap. PSD button won't work.
A marvelous record, end to end.  So thoughtful, so wise, and the performances and production are stellar.
Me likey like!

rosanne and derek=very nice!
I love her. So smart. So approachable. We need to preserve her finely honed & divinely  zapped  genes at all costs.

Yep. No one else sounds like him on slide.

That's exactly what I thought! Aren't we smart?!?

Playing this new album WAY TOO MUCH  It will be ok if i never hear it again .

Nope.  Silliest line of reasoning ever.  Nothing is played too much on RP.

I've purchased 'Sunken Lands' from this album.  This one may be my next purchase.  ðŸŽž

Just saw this live from the front row.

Better than the first song RP was playing but still sort of lackluster. Maybe it's just subtle and will grow on me? I hope so. But it really sounds like she's lost the spark that made King's Record Shop so interesting.

Trucks and Cash.

Sounds like a recipe for a bad movie.

Oh hell yes, this is def 'Murican music.  9
Like that line: "We talk about your drinking, but not about your thirst..."
Always like her music!!!

Rosanne's got country roots for sure, but she branches off of those in sublime ways.

{#Sunny}indeed, more
American Country Music "twang" lives on!
I've never been much of a fan of Rosanne Cash. Until this album -- I'm really enjoying it.
OH YEAH
SING IT
I've been waiting to hear more of her since I heard her "List" album several years ago.  She certainly has daddy's talent and is coming along nicely.  This get's an 8 from me. .
I'm really enjoying the songs from this album.
Long time fan of Rosie! Good to hear this.
I wondered who that was sounding like Derek Trucks on the slide guitar.  Doh!
{#Wave} .... really enjoying this album :)
