put it before AC/DC and it's even more disturbing!  LOL!
oh... for crying out loud

this is christmas music

it aint christmas
Lizst yesterday, Tchaikovsky today. RP is becoming soooo highbrow!
As William says "you can always expect the unexpected" - he just went from Supertramp - Bloody Well Right to Tchaikovsky -The Nutcracker !!  Great job, William, LOVE IT!!

Nothing against this tune, per se, but throwing it in between Supertramp and Queen is a wee bit disquieting.

Yeah, but it's Tchaikovsky.

And Christmastime....

Totally bummed that our local dance school isn't doing "Nutcracker" this year. I've been in or around their production for more than 20 years, beginning when my daughter was 6. Scenery mover, snow maker, props master, and now party parent. Sigh. I hope the school survives.

Update...Yes, they have survived. Nutcracker in 2021 was a stripped-down version (fewer children, fewer featured dancers per part), but it happened. And now in 2022 everyone is back. So great, can't wait!

All right, then.

How about some "Summertime Blues" by The Who?
Hey man,

This is a Christmas song,  Its June 2022.  it's summertime.

How about some "Summertime Blues" by Blue Cheer?
Always good to hear a bit of the old Petya T, to be sure... In certain lighter moods, one cannot help but recall the hilarious scene of the ballerini dancing to this in the film Top Secret!...
I keep seeing Disney's Fantasia Mushrooms dancing
Most excellent to be followed by AC/DC's "It's a long way to the top".
My cat just ran out of the room .  LOL
How many times have I played this over the years? Dozens? Hundreds? One stage, in the pit... never really tire of it, either.
hey...

it aint christmas

play some summer rnr

c'mon

Former ballet parent here. Hope the school survives too.

My absolute favorite as a kid.

Ok - I am going to instigate a totally redundant exercise here. But has there ever been a greater composer?

JS Bach is the greatest composer who ever lived.

Seriously? I skip through Cake and get to this? I think the segue machine is on the fritz.
This sounds like perfect music for skipping...through cake.

My parents had this album and I played it incessantly as a child on the old mahogany "victrola" ha ha.
Dancing Shrooms in Fantasia!!  Lovin you, RP!!
Hey......

Labor day weekend on the horizon and  your playing Christmas music?

But I'm cool with huge dancing mice with swords, that's an anytime spectacle.

Dancing Chinese Mushrooms!!! (Disney Fantasia)
Love it!  The Nutcracker defines Christmas for me.
who could forget that seminal moment when Beethoven rolled over and told Tchaikovsky the news?

Close to last, but not quite. Symphony #6 "Pathetique" is the last published during his lifetime, there are a few more published posthumously.

The truly amazing part about this is that it was all written to specs. The librettist, Marius Petipa, gave Tchaikovsky very specific directions: 12 bars of sprightly, 20 bars of slow march, etc.

Wow, that is amazing but he was a hell of a composer.
Отлично!

Many people forget how Tchaikovsky rocked Woodstock.

Is Mrs. Robinson trying to seduce you?

When all you have is a spliff, everything sounds like reggae

Why is that a "redundant" exercise?  Maybe the word you were looking for is "hypothetical".
It's too early for this song! It's only Oct 2...

The whole suite (?) is amazing from "Sugar Plum Fairy" to "Russian Coffee". I believe it's the last set of music he wrote. Great way to finish a career.

Here RP go again trying too hard to prove how 'eclectic' they are and ruining a good buzz ...

Yeah, I don't think you get it, as evident in your referring to RP as "they"; FM is they, RP is BillG and RebeccaG.

Long live RP and all THEY want to play!

Thanks, Bill & Rebecca for such a refreshing station.

I think they are trying just the right amount hard.

How cool and unexpected.

I'd be very interested to see how this would be rated if it was listed as done by Justin Bieber instead of Tchaikovsky.

We don't need to dwell on that. Ever. And why bring that little shit Beiber into a thread to begin with?

Bill and Rebecca, you are amazing - from the Pixies to Tchaikovsky! The songs are 10's but so are you. Beside these songs, your playlist for the last couple hours has been fantastic. I love RP.

Inescapable. Skittering mushrooms bowing frenetically.
It actually cracks my nuts.

What instrument would the Biebs play? The skin flute?

Sorry.

omg, I actually rated this an 8 - who hacked my profile lol!
no, I guess I'd be afraid not to lol!

wow, what a surprise to hear. 6 to 7 years of listening to RP and this is the first time hearing Tchaikovsky.
Voted 10 (my daughter danced this part in "The Nutcracker" last year). The whole suite (?) is amazing from "Sugar Plum Fairy" to "Russian Coffee". I believe it's the last set of music he wrote. Great way to finish a career.

Odd, this tune has never been anything but pleasant to my ears, but today it was akin to the anticipation of someone shoving needles into my eyeballs with each trill of the flute. {#Eyes}
My goodness.  So much life and vitality packed into this little piece.  In my mind I'm fluttering about in the air with ankles twittering back and forth.  Perfect!
This is a nice song, although it's a little early for Christmas music...
Only thing wrong with it is its too short.
I always thought this was by Ripyourcorsetsoff
you can't help but admire it even if you don't like it
Nutcracker? Sounds painful...
So hard to rate these familiar classical tunes.  What the heck.  9
