I got a certain little girl she's on my mind
No doubt about it she looks so fine
She's the best girl that I ever had
She's gonna make me feel so bad

She's got lovin' like quicksand
Only took one touch of my hand
Blow my mind and I'm in so deep
I can't eat and I can't sleep
Oh I can't sleep

Na na na na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na na na na, yeah

Hush, hush
I thought I heard her callin' my name now
Hush
She took my heart but I love her just the same now
Hush, hush
Thought I heard her callin' my name now
Hush, hush
I need her lovin' but I'm not to blame now

I got her in the morning
Late in the evening

Hush
I thought I heard her callin' my name now
Hush
She took my heart but I love her just the same now
Hush, hush
Thought I heard her callin' my name now
Hush, hush
I need her lovin' but I'm not to blame now

I got her in the morning
Late in the evening

Na na na na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na na na na

Same thing with me at the Orange Bowl around same time. Me and a buddy went to get a few beers before DP took the stage and we forgot where we were sitting. When DP took the stage, I had the bright idea of maybe going down to the very front and looking back up towards our seats. The massive Marshall amps were so loud, it was blasting some of the beer out of the tops of the plastic cups. I think my ears are still ringing almost a half a century later.

Funny you should mention that.  I was 13yrs old when this came out. GREAT TUNE!.  in 1968, I had an elderly English teacher. When the class would act up, She would extend her right index finger & shout: HUSH!

Dang, this was 1968. Pretty cutting edge for the late '60s. Leslie solo is truly special!

"... but I can't eat y'all, and I can't sleep..."
the greatest power pop tune of all time? mebbe
In the full original, a dog howls at the very top of the tune.  Several times, when "camping out" in the backyard of my town pal Eddie, I played my .45 (the record, not the pistol ;-] ) on my portable turntable.  I can still hear the neighborhood dogs in the backyards and in the houses, responding to the wolf call.  F'ing hilarious.
Jon Lord & Keith Emerson are the Gods of rock and roll Hammond Organ!  Different styles, but both are great!
Excellent tune, these guys have the potential to become a good hard rock band ...
This song will forever remind me of "Once upon a Time in Hollywood". Great song, great movie!

Deep Purple invokes memories of high school. '59 microbus with no gas gauge and no auxiliary tank, and a rigged a cassette player that played about 25% of the time. The rest of the time it ate tapes.
only song I danced to at my first school dance in 7th grade. Found out dancing isn't my thing but that music makes one long to be able!
Excellent tune! ...Hammond B2 with a Leslie speaker/amp?
DP before they realized that hard rock was their way.

Someone called BS on Bob Seeger's "Her Strut" and Bill and Rebecca followed with 2 very well played (commercial?) songs we usually don't hear on RP, "I Feel The Earth Move" followed by "Hush".
You showed them B&G. Way to go!

Wow. There are so many tunes that conjure up the memories of the days of dancing till closing time, several nights a week,  in the late 60s and early 70s. But THIS one. We really did kinda take over the dance floor. There was one club we frequented (in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada) where, as soon as this one started, the regulars would  clear  the floor and yell out for us as we entered into our  HUSH 'trance' dance. The owner of that club actually offered to pay my then-boyfriend and me if we would commit to dancing on certain nights every week. EMPLOY us to go out and have a great time! WITH free drinks! He said he sold a lot more drinks and people danced a lot more and stayed later when we were there. Talk about yer forks in the road. (We said no.)

Who knows, you might have ended up on the Canadian version of Soul Train ?

Broken radio; luxury! We dreamed of a broken radio.
Rod Evans went on to sing for Captain Beyond, which I believe is one of the most underrated prog rock bands out there.

I fell in love with the B3 listening to soul music in Memphis as a teenager. And then to encounter it as a hippie in college in this genre-Ho Lee Fuk! And I can (read, used to) hear a live B3 in San Francisco at the Royal Cuckoo 7 nights a week. Covid, please go away. And take that Orange thang with you.

Amen to that. Their first several albums were creative in all respects-lyrics, composition,  hooks and showed a depth that may not have had wide appeal but was embraced by many of us for the stark creativity and the "transportation" quality that could rocket us to another realm. And then they got commercial.
Kula who?

This is one of those songs I've heard hundreds of times but never realized it was Deep Purple, who I always thought of as one-hit wonders with the rather awful "Smoke on the Water." This is much better!

Amazing the way some people let religion push them into living on a knife's edge between salvation and damnation. I'm sure it gives their lives drama and meaning but they must wonder from time to time "Am I supposed to live on my knees and in fear?"
Yup, always thought this should be played before or after Charlatans' "The Only One I Know" --  AWESOME, then AND now!  Hush...Hush...
Nice Surprise. Good one

Fun with Hammond

The very top of the song is a howling dog. In 1970(?) Eddie Stoberski and I camped out in his suburban backyard and at midnight blasted the opening seconds over and over on his (or maybe it was my) portable phonograph (remember those?) and had every dog in the neighborhood bellowing. Mischievous fun!
