Well, the mourning was complete
There was tears on the steering wheel, dripping on the seat
Several hours or several weeks
I'd have the cheek to say they're equally as bleak

It's the beginning of the end
The car went up the hill and disappeared around the bend
Ask anyone, they'll tell you that it's these times that it tends
To start to break in half
To start to fall apart
Hold on to your heart

Do me a favour and break my nose
Do me a favour and tell me to go away
Do me a favour and stop asking questions

And she walked away while her shoes were untied
And the eyes were all red, you could see that we'd cried
And I watched and I waited till she was inside
Forcing a smile and waving goodbye

Curiosity becomes a heavy load
Too heavy to hold
Too heavy to hold
Curiosity becomes a heavy load
Too heavy to hold
Will force you to be cold

Do me a favour and ask if you need some help
She said, "Do me a favour and stop flattering yourself"
And to tear apart the ties that bind
Perhaps "fuck off" might be too kind
Perhaps "fuck off" might be too kind

LOL! Good tune! The drums  remind me of Louis Prima's Sing Sing Sing (He wrote it, Benny Goodman made it famous). Louis Prima ...another Italiano!
Surprising (at least to me) transition from Los Lobos to Arctic Monkeys, me lika!
Hey mambo, mambo italiano
Decent band, some good tunes, they're from Sheffield where I live. I just really hate what they do..
one trick monkeys
8 -> 9
I just don't get these. There's not one track they've ever made I like. That's unusual for any band. It's not that the lyrics aren't intelligent or thoughtful, or that they can't play their instruments, but it's not a good noise
bass line sounds a lot like "mirror in the bathroom"
Still an extraordinary album. {#Bananajam}
This is the second track played from this album today.  Thanks RP!

Interesting.  Apparently you aren't open minded enough, and are clearly wrong.  I love all those bands.

Now Peter Gabriel and Tracy Chapman, talk about grating. (He said ironically.)

I agree - the Artic Spunkies will be consigned to history as a musical anomaly.

Truly, I've got some mid-century furniture and Murano glass pendants for those wild rooms, maybe a large hairy white rug and some Lava-lamps as well!

FANTASTIC!
Some swearing in there, Bill. Although, I doubt many of you can tell from the Sheffieldcestershire accent.

From my point of view this is the best of their songs that I've heard because I think its OK. I keep listening to their stuff and failing to find much in it that appeals to me. My loss, but I don't suppose I'll lose any sleep over it.
Clearly plenty people find more appeal in their work than I do or the average rating would be lower.
This is maybe the Arctic Monkey's best song. Surprising how low this is rated. {#Think}

One of the most original, driving, rocking jams to come along in years...and when it shifts into that surprising outburst, it does it in a cracking way!  I LOVE IT TO PIECES, STILL!

best band of this era. and this song is in the top 3 best AM songs.
Coming from Sheffield, I was mildly embarrassed when these guys first hit the scene, thought they were kind of a Terrorvision rip-off. But, I've been pleasantly surprised with how they've matured... Solid 7.
I could almost love this song just for the shift from the previous song.

Is anyone buying that?

Sounds good to me.
I think I've posted this in other songs from this album, but the cover always reminds me of the cover for the Ziggy Stardust album.

That's my random observation for the day. {#Angel}

You make a good point, the song(s) that precede a song may influence our opinion of the song in question. This is in addition to our current mood, state of distraction, etc.

Don't mean to put them down, like them, but know what you mean.  They burst on the scene with such a bang and were so interesting, bound to cool off really.  First group to be launched into top spot by internet buzz, etc.  (at least in UK) At least they're new, they're competent, and if people like them it cannot be because of nostalgia (which often seems to rule here on RP)

I like the sound of your librarian!

 I had to plug the earphones into the computer here at work so I could crank this one!  Lubblee-Gubblee!{#Bananasplit}

 Nice stuff, it's always Arctic Monkeys, or Porcupine Tree when I hear a "new" tune I like. I believe these peopl have
talent. All good music is prone to overplay, if I kept track how many times I have heard Stairway to Heaven - Tequila Sunrise
— Hotel California - Layla— it would be in the 3 and perhaps 4 digets. There is no way to prevent overplay on the classics.

Silly band, we all know monkeys are not an arctic species. Not quite 'arctic monkeys', but 'snow monkeys' do live in northern Japan:

No monkeys like snow monkeys: Soak up Japan's hot-tubbing wildlife

I love how these guys just storm through one after another of these clever songs that positively leave me gasping by the end...a bit like Franz Ferdy used to do but I think these guys have a bit more staying power (let's hope)...

Aye, t'lad's singing in a South Yorkshire accent, 'appen as like. A very softened version of it, believe me - everyday Yorkshire accent and dialect takes some getting used to. It's great that this and other groups are striving to keep their regional accents, and in the case of the AM singing about their regions, and not using bland generic mid-Atlantic drones. 7 from the Nottingham jury.

One one the best new bands in a very long time. And I'm old and I should know.
I'm not really sure why there's so much animosity towards the Arctic Monkeys? If it is because they are overplayed on commercial radio then...

I can hear Joe and the Mescaleros doing this number.
Really good album, but the production relies on compression, making the whole thing sound flat and bright.
I adore this song and the album art is fantastic, too.
