I want you soft in the middle
I see a strange and furious face
I know your heart

I want your pearly hand in my hair
We make a strange and furious pair
I want you locked in the middle
I know your heart
I know your heart

It's just like mine was

So you wanna know why I can't sleep
You wanna know why I can't sleep
You wanna know why I can't sleep

Unless I've got a belly full of wine
You show up in time for a bad time

Mmm 'less I've got a belly full of wine
You show up and the world is wild

I want your pearly little hand in my hair
We make a strange and furious pair
I want you pearly on the inside
I know your heart
I know your heart

It's just like mine was

So you wanna know why I can't sleep at night
You wanna know why I can't sleep at night
You wanna know why I can't sleep

Unless I've got a belly full of wine
You show up in time for a bad time

Mmm, 'less I've got a belly full of wine
You show up in tails for a bad time

Mmm, 'less I've got my belly full of wine
I'm drunk and the world is wild

(You got it)
(Heaven in your hand)

You got it
You got it
Heaven in your hand

How does this rate only a 6.4? The blowtorch vocals on the chorus are terrific. Such minor chord teen angstiness. What's not to like?
Perfect anthem for 18-25 year olds and I don’t mean that as an insult

I said that at a Sex Pistols concert and got my ass kicked

Really an excellent tune here: the vocals suit the strange progressions perfectly; the lyrics and music are sinister and evocative as hell!

I don't hear any strange progressions - all very standard rock.
Had to look twice to make sure this wasn't Patti Smith! Great song.

Saw Belly a million years for free on the Santa Monica pier. Great band, great voice. Not my favorite song, however...

{#Yes}  Yes, nice production too - cool guitar sound.

Zoey Deschanel was 15 when this came out, so if anything it's the other way around.

Just stepped it up from a 5 to 6 after a twist took place..that's worth a step up :)

Yah, this quite likeable actually..lots of variations, and I like the lyrics too :)

Ms Donnelly is quite excellent in this one
still yummy
yummy
Oh, Bill! You have just brought me so much happy!! Thank you!! {#Dancingbanana}
Yikes....
Diggin' the groove
A natural segue, from album title to tonality. This is why BillG is so good.
Take your hat off boy
When you're talking to me

I know its a different song's lyric, but I'll always like Belly & Tanya D. for that.
I saw Belly on this tour and it was an absolutely amazing show.  I love Tanya!
she sounds like Zoey Deschanel

To tell the truth i have kept up with kristin hersh and throwing muses but have no idea if Tanya Donnelly did anything after this.  Anyone else know?

A handful of sleepy solo albums, all available on iTunes/Amazon. I really liked her version of "Long Long Long" on her album This Hungry Life.
How can this be "Untitled and Unsung"?  It has a title, and she's singing it.

good good good !
The guitar intro sounded *exactly* like Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac... which is not a bad thing at all.

I too have always loved this band. "Star" was one of my favorite albums while in college, and to this day that disc gets a lot of play at home and in the car. I just wish they could have released a couple more albums....

So...you've had a belly full of this group. .......People, please don't throw things....folks, I don't sing, I don't dance, this is it.

I'm here all week; try the fish.

Donelly has been pretty prolific over the last decade and has released four solo albums in the last 12 years if I'm reading this correctly: Lovesongs for Underdogs, 1997; Beautysleep, 2002; Whiskey Tango Ghosts, 2004; This Hungry Life, 2006.  I only have Whiskey Tango Ghosts and really like it, even though it received middling reviews.  My guess is that if you dig her voice you'll love it, otherwise it's a pass.  I'd love to know if anyone else has her other solo albums and would recommend them.  Thanks!

Not sure what your post means, but I like it. :-)

She has released a few solo albums.  Allmusic.com and Amazon both have more album info.

Great fun tune.
Man, I miss Belly. Thanks for playing this, Bill!
This song is FUN!!! I like it a lot.
Mmm... hot music, sexy song... good and soft in the belly and the rest to imagination inside the nifty rythms.

sounds like Penetration—a 70's punk band. Similar voice and tonality. Likey!

That's exactly what this sounds like, a "college song." And that's a bad thing.
You'd rather a "Las Vegas lounge song" perhaps? Maybe a "Top 40 throwaway song"? How about an "overplayed classic rock song"? Or even a "limp smooth jazz song"? How anyone can call themselves "radioparadisehead" and yet be so simpleheaded about music is quite the puzzle. Open up your ears and your mind.

nice!
I sometimes refer to mine as the old fried chicken cemetary.
Yes, and please take Belly with you. Ugh. eskles wrote:
Lucky me - I heard Feed the Tree on my car radio during lunch and then come back to hear this on RP. Two Belly songs in a half hour, Yeah! Can I go home now?

Ha! Another upload of mine to make it through LRC. Thanks everyone for voting! Very underrated album. (They split up after it flopped.) Most excellent track this. Hope it gets played soon.
Isnt it ironic that Belly's album "flopped"? (click here)
reminds me of uni and my true love ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

heard this song long time ago a couple times on the radios. i was never able to get info of the song. i'm very happy to hear it on RP!!!
This has something "summer" about it, I think...

Ditto. I was so disappointed when they broke up. King blew their Star album out of the water. It's a definite must have album for any great music collection.
Thanks for uploading this. I like it.
so glad you uploaded this song. love it! miss hearing it... jah_blessed wrote:
Just caught the last minute of it! Such a kick to hear your own upload. Might get round to uploading more from this album. There's definitely some excellent music on it. I just picked this track on a whim, but it has better stuff. Memorable line: "Baby I can't fake it, I'd like to see you naked." (not from this track)
