When you're on a holiday
You can't find the words to say
All the things that come to you
And I wanna feel it too

On an island in the sun
We'll be playin' and havin' fun
And it makes me feel so fine
I can't control my brain

Hip hip
Hip hip

When you're on a golden sea
You don't need no memory
Just a place to call your own
As we drift into the zone

On an island in the sun
We'll be playin' and havin' fun
And it makes me feel so fine
I can't control my brain

We'll run away together
We'll spend some time forever
We'll never feel bad anymore

Thanks RP.
Another of those mood changer songs... many are beautiful, a few have this gift
Great.
Hip hip!!
Personal favorite vocal warm up tune during band practice.  Can't get through it without laughing.  Joyously silly pop perfection.

Love this song but, wouldn't the lyrics: "...and I feel so fine I can't control my mind" be better? Every time I hear it I want to change the words.

I think using the word "brain" instead of "mind" was a sort of tongue-in-cheek joke on their part: pointing out how they couldn't control their brain/mind so the lyric doesn't rhyme as listeners would expect.
Love this song, though it's pop (which is not my usual preference).  I lived in the Caribbean for 12 years and this song takes me back... until I can actually get back there!!
GREAT TUNE! Even better in FLAC w/ great studio phones, amp & DAC ! Thanx RP!
Gave this a 7 just so it gets added to my Favourites!

Sounds good. Has your daughter signed on for this?  (The dance moves may require some consideration.)
Summer vacation 2003, little island in the sun of Greece!
Life was..... just carefree!
A personal 10.
This will be the song I dance to with my oldest daughter at her wedding... such a sweet song with so many memories of happy times spent.
RIP Mr. Ocasek.

Dang, its been a super long time since I have heard this cheerful little ditty.  I used to listen to it a lot - used to be one of my favorites at the time - but grew weary of it after too much of my own "air play".  Thanks for the great reminder of such a carefree tune.

Cheers to RP, as per usual!

Interesting.  I hardly noticed it in 2000, now it's far more interesting.  I think musically it's well crafted and very enjoyable.  I wonder if you like it less now because you remember it as better than it actually was whereas I am appreciating something that is familiar, but overlooked.

Hehe, "define irony!" (yes, cheap Con Air reference) I *am* on an island in the Sun, but this song reminds me of home every time I hear it.

RP has only two Weezer songs? Somebody's gotta upload more!

well, I just checked...a lot of uploaded weezer songs didn't make it in the rp library, because they got rejected. I don't know if they got rejected because of a poor bitrate / wrong encoding etc. or because of the songs themselves?

i'd love to hear "say it ain't so". i remember spending a complete day with this song on "single repeat" ;o) but maybe other weezer songs aren't "even-tempered" enough for RP?

Someone could try and upload "My Name is Jonas" - that song hasn't been uploaded (and rejected) so far...as far as I can see...

Damn people.  This is a very good point.  In the Garage, Say it ain't so, My name is Jonas, Pink Triangles, El Scorcho are all very worthy.  How do other people sample stuff at the right bitrate to submit it?

Yes.  5 awesome songs noted by Sloggydog.  Come on you uploaders.....
Need more Weezer on RP — They are one of the most important bands of the 90s.  Love this song, this album, the Blue Album and Pinkerton.
If I had a band (and the requisite talent), we'd play this song every night.

This song is awesome.  Although, there was some of this album I was a bit chagrin to be exposing to a minivan full of kids.

just saw a Weezer concert in Japan on Paladia - pretty entertaining - especially this and the last song when they have this giggly young lady come out of the crowd and play guitar with them - it must have been a set up, but she sure looked blown away to be up there with them.  A fun concert to watch.

It's probably good that you're "inclined to agree" with your own conclusion.  I like the contradictory wordplay: "grown two sizes too small" and "aggressively lame" - good stuff.  I could see why some people wouldn't care for this tune; it's kind of silly, but I don't think it means that your heart has gotten smaller.

That's funny, cause one of the most popular bumper stickers in Wasilla is "Valley Trash and Proud of It."  Personally, I hate that bumper sticker, but there are a lot of people who have it on their cars who it does apply to.
