Can you see?
Can you see, can you see
Oh, can't you see?
You're not fooling me
But it's all right, baby
It's all over now

Thought I knew
Thought I knew, thought I knew
What did I know?
Guess I didn't know you
But it's all right baby
It's all over now

Did we love
Did we love, did we love?
Who did you love
When I was loving you?
But it's all right, baby
It's all over now

How I cried
How I cried, and I cried
All the time
The time spilled over you
But it's all right, baby
It's all over now

Can you see?
Can you see, can you see?
Oh, can you see
You're not fooling me
Well, it's all right baby
It's all over now

Well it's all right, baby
Look who's crying now
Look who's crying now
Do it now
Do it now
Well, it's all over now

I like the perfectly lazy, very slightly behind the beat snare. Set s a very cool vibe.

Thought it was a funky ZZ Top deep cut at first...
Alas, RP shows the Americans what they missed, again.
One of Canada's Greatest Rock Outfits, that We never heard, South of the Border, due to FM Radio's corporate shit.
These Guys won Juno Awards ( it's like a Grammy, without the Labels being involved), yet No One in America has heard of Em!!
Thanks RP !

Caught them in the late '90s at The Downstairs John at McMaster U. The John is long gone now, but my ears are still ringing as a result of that show.
amazing tone on that guitar

I was just about to comment on the extreme volume of their show... Waterloo, 2000-ish. Talked to the frontwoman of Scratching Post, who'd opened for them, during their show.... well, I mean, we yelled in each other's ears! But what a fantastically tight band.

I wonder if they were all drummers.
That's funny, the Wikipedia page that shows up on the player is for "Big Sugar", as in the real sugar companys conglomeration similar to "Big Pharma" and not the band
Love RP! Here’s another band I have to research!!

Not a chance. Big Sugar is being Big Sugar. They don't need to sound like anyone else.
Current faves from them include “Come Back Baby” and especially “All Hell For a Basement”. Thanks for playing them Bill...

Still putting out good albums
Gordie Johnson is a Canadian treasure. The band is incredible live too.
I like it but it sounds like they are trying to hard to sound like T-Rex...
Fantastic song by a killer band.
Thank you for a great intro via psd, me likey      will research Gordiee and Grady, et al
"Diggin a Hole" is also very strong...
They have a new album out.

A little more heavy on the reggae.

If you interested give the track "It's All I Know" a try. Warren Haynes guests on it.
Loved Big Sugar from the first lick....

Saw them live a few times. They gave me tinnitus. Thanks guys. LOL
Sounds like Hall and Oates attempting blues.
Recently played both national anthems US and Canadian at Senators game. Instrumental only.

Yes, terribly good.  (Note the outline of the vinyl worn into the album cover on the scanned illustration.)
I find the sound of the guitar and the chord changes in this song super reminiscent of Norman Greenbaum's Spirit in the Sky.

I'll second that - he's got fellow Canadian (and ex-The Phantoms) 'Big' Ben Richardson with him on bass and if anything they're rockin' out even more than Big Sugar did!

Did someone mention 'Come & Take Me'?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlNgmnhsogA&feature=related

Why is the same segue happening again in April of 2008? Is radio parasise recycling?

Gord has used special effects on his vocals on a lot of the Big Sugar records (and live), but I don't think it's to compensate for his singing skills, or perceived lack thereof. He uses a lot of special effects on his guitar, too.

Gribnif, I think you're probobly running some sort of AC3 filter that is distorting your sound. These guys would never have used autotune even if it had existed. These guys rock hard blues like nobody else. This is weird June 5th 2005: "Dug the segue from John Lee Hooker's In the Mood For Love. BUT...how about some Savoy Brown and/or Canned Heat?" I love this station soooooo much, I wish I could get it wireless around the globe without wifi hotspots...but now...

This song was recorded on a low budget for an indie label in 1993. I don't think Auto-Tune software even existed then, but if it did it was in its infancy and probably wasn't used here. - John Dynamic Range Radio

Probably one of Canadas best exports (especially in the blues) They were great to see live lots of great slide guitar and funky bass
man, solid 6. it'd be so much higher if he didn't sing. For me, his voice clashes with the blues guitar.
That's some raunchy guitar. Bokey likey.
Best band ever!! Thanks for playing them! Maybe some Grady too?

and a remarkably nice seque by the way.
Bill, if you're making any commission on sales through Amazon -- I would think all my purchases alone would keep this station afloat. As much as I love RP -- you're breaking me. And now, another to add to my wide array of music. I'll have to start my own Radio Paradise ala Europe to support my habit! Don;t know what it is, but this ROCKS! Makes me all tingly like a teenager...

They take a raw, heavy, almost punk approach to bluesy rock. They lack they eclecticism of Big Sugar, but I like the album for what it is. Half the songs are re-workings of Big Sugar tunes, so it remains to be seen whether Gordie Johnson has run out of ideas or is simply recharging his batteries.
Yeah !

Second album, actually. Third if you count the limited release live album "EL Seven Night Club", but that was a benefit compilation of many vocalists with an early incarnation of Big Sugar serving as the backing band for all. I totally agree that they were one of the best Canadian bands around, and this album is excellent from start to finish. So was Hemi-Vision. The other albums are all good, but those two were Big Sugar at their peak.
Oh yeah, the first one is just called Big Sugar. I stand corrected. I really have to get those out again and refresh my memory.

Quite nicely too... haven't really heard that hybrid in this style before (only person I can think of who crosses over the genres would be G Love..specifically on the 'Electric Mile' album) Edit: Just heard 'Hey Negrita' by the Rolling Stones... I believe it was originally done in 1976

Great Band - not even close to one of their better songs but glad to hear them on RP.
this music is some of the best i have heard in a long long time.....

Not my favorite song from the album. Probably not in the top half. Give me Ride Like Hell. I listen to Big Sugar down here in Austin and have many years. (I was introduced to it by a Torontoan). I've seen his new band Grady a dozen or more times. They're great, but I don't imagine it is RP style music. A little too loud and heavy.
Good stuff, never heard of them before... one more reason to love RP!

My sister introduced me to this band. She used to work at a radio station in Colorado (KFMU I think were the call letters). She sold ads. She was able to get a lot of the promo stuff and send them to me. A lot of it was crap, but this was a great surprise. I really like "I'm a ram" and "Sugar in my Coffee". Great stuff!
Why even play this song? lower than avg.

I agree, amazing live. 500 Lbs & Hemi Vision are by far and away his best albums. In the spirit of upping the Canadian quotient, might I suggest RP introduce their listeners to the Tragically Hip... Rockin': "New Orleans is Sinking" from "Up to Here" Mellow: "Fiddler's Green" from "Road Apples"

Yay! How about "I'm A Ram"... that was my favorite so far off the LRC.
Sort of a "Sons of Canned Heat" effort. Not bad. Tasty guitar licks.
