Baby, please don't go
Baby, please don't go
Baby, please don't go, down to New Orleans
You know I love you so

Before I be your dog
Before I be your dog
Before I be your dog
I get you way'd out here, and let you walk alone

Turn your lamp down low
Turn your lamp down low
Turn your lamp down low
I beg you all night long, baby, please don't go

You brought me way down here
You brought me way down here
You brought me way down here
'bout to Rolling Forks, you treat me like a dog

Baby, please don't go
Baby, please don't go
Baby, please don't go, back the New Orleans
I beg you all night long

Before I be your dog
Before I be your dog
Before I be your dog
I get you way'd out here, and let you walk alone

You know your man down gone
You know your man down gone
You know your man down gone
To the country farm, with all the shackles on

It is an interesting and certainly a valid (IMHO) comment. The Blues genre is certainly very broad, especially when one adds in the roots sector. On the other hand I really love the heady mix of music here and I find that there is a certain flow to it that appeals to me. I remember a Dave Raven, a well-loved DJ  saying that he would not apologise for occasionally playing tracks that were not strictly blues on his "Raven n the Blues" podcast.  I also follow the excellent Bandana Blues podcast which is quite a heady mix of genres. I guess that with music, it is often how one feels in the moment.

And what is that strange honking sound...I think alot old old guys play it.

Gee...why not play just "thud and drone" guitars?

Props to Johnny Winter for the outstanding production, guitar and vocals on this Muddy Waters "Hard Again" period

I find almost all of Muddy's tunes played here are 8s or better to my ears....what a bad ass he was!  Long Live RP!!
Harmonica blues theme going?
OK...if you are going to play Charlie M, and now Muddy (Little Walter on harp?).....then you got to play Mr Super Harp, himself: JAMES COTTON!

Then Magic Dick from J Geils doing Whamer Jammer.
For me this is  7 - Quite Likeable

I remember seeing him a couple of times back in that time frame.

Strong words learned Man!  Live and learn, and rock on! Cheers

This song is still soooo good for the ears...

What an incredible acceleration in tempo and attitude: Peter Gabriel's soul-wrenching Blood of Eden, to Roxy Music, to Muddy Waters jiving blues!

Bill, you sure know how to mix it up!
Wow...it's 8:30 am and I'm spilling my coffee. Muddy Waters and Willie Dixon in the morning?

Shoudln't this be the time for Shadowfax (that's a joke).

Makes me wish I was back in Chi-Town for the Blues Festival this weekend.  Chicago was a great place to grow up, and I can't believe it's been thirty years since I moved west:0

Maybe I'll tune into wxrt.com today to see how the festival is going.  It's the only other "radio station" I'll listen to besides RP...
that's about the time I first saw him.

Right back there, man is that some good playing.
{#Cheers} {#Clap} {#Clap} {#Cheers}
It's always good to hear some classic blues from the master

Guitarists Luther Johnson, Bob Margolin (who was in Muddy's road band for years), and Johnny Winter are all credited in the liner notes. The break on this one sounds an awful lot like Winter.

So  I take it that you are not at all interested in where Rock'n Roll came from.. Thats a pretty narrow minded comment  you made. Still I suppose you know more than Teacher.

Thank you for saying this, Toke!  {#Notworthy}   {#High-five}

Always liked this song from the first time I heard it by Them (Van Morrison).

Lyle Lovett to Muddy Waters.

Life is good.
Tell me, Bill, that you didn't read my comment earlier this morning on the Tom Petty song. Eerie.

Anything associated with Muddy Waters is instantly excellent
Can anyone confirm Little Walter on harp ?? It's really baaaaaad, and that means goooooood.
Wow! That guitar player sure has a Stevie Ray sound -- or chronologically speaking, I guess it's the other way around but I discovered SRV first so... Anybody knows who's playing by the way?
This is why I love RP!!!
Ahhhhhhhhhh! One of the Greats!
Is that Little Walter on harp?
man i love blues. i am south african and it was my long last dream to visit chicago and listen to some blues, which i did 4 years ago. man what a fantastic city. wish i could live there. brilliant.

Exactly! Try the Chicago BluesFest, every year at beginning of June, in Grant Park. Some of the best blues from around the country, past and present.
Another recommendation- the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival- last weekend in April, first weekend in May--- yes, it's still alive and kicking and always will be....
Yup. Who is it on this cut? I'm really diggin' it.

Ahh, yes! I can tell you that the Bluesfest in Chicago is alive and well, even though Muddy Waters is not. I went with my wife and four month old son (trying to raise him right!) this past June, and it was a blast!! We saw Koko Taylor, Buddy Guy and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. The only thing that I regretted was not being alive to see the first bluesfest in Chicago, which featured Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and other deceased blues icons.
Here's another of our native sons. Rolling Fork to Clarksdale. Less than an hour from where I sit typing.
This is just one tiny example of an outstanding lineup this morning. Thank you RP. (Yep, it's morning on this side of the world.)

For a more frequent dose of the blues in Chicago: Friday afternoons from 5 to 7 or 8, Buddy Guy's has a free acoustic set. Not so crowded, pretty chill, great gumbo, and $6 pitchers (small) of Honkers.

I am always amazed that someone can actually rate music like this with a 1. Truly, great music is just that.
If Mugro were king ( ), people attempting to give Muddy Waters a 1 would have their rating privileges revoked and would spend some time in the stockade.
