You're in charge
you always were
there's no denying
fire burns
i took alot
but now i'm gonna give
back to you
whatever i got

cos we are one
and we'll always be
you were born first
forever connected to me
connected to me

it's not always how you want it to be
we had no choice,oh desperately
i had to leave
now i'm coming back
we had to see
you're white and i'm black

cos we are one
and we'll always be
you were born first
forever connected to me

Pretty good but seems like a lite version of "Club Montepulciano".

Quality band. No idea what they were doing on Eurovision Song Contest. Just looked like their manager had booked them the wrong gig....
makes me think of morcheeba.
Very cool sound and many more cool like this, super group!
The beginning reminds me of living in a place where the needle would skip every time someone walked across the floor

Roxy Music - County Music,  very popular at boarding school!
they change their singer every two years or so; that's part of their modus vivendi...

Yeah, that photo inspired a lot of dreams.

She's "channeling"?  She sounds nothing like Flo & Eddie.  Musically the verses of both songs have a "i-IV" progression/vamp (which is quite common)  but other than that they are quite different songs.  A lot of Hooverphonic's material does definitely have a 1960s sound though.

Here's a great and completely overlooked band that started in middle-of-the-road and then progressed into what I could only describe as some addled European's idea of a 50's Broadway musical mixed with electronics. This album is the apotheosis of that style. I saw them touring behind BT and their encore song was a lounge version of "Inna Gadda Da Vidda."
HER VOICE, and that time-machine '60s-style music, quickly grabs my mind and sends me to a very special and groovy place, with shag carpets, black lights, bead curtains, incense, and Formica... I have been impressed by many of their great songs over the years.
I'm gonna have to look up this album.
Dreamy.
More from this voice talent please

The story revolves around the fictitious character Jackie Cane who leaves her identical twin sister in order to become a professional singer. Driven to the brink of insanity by the pressures of fame, Jackie quits show business and returns home to attempt reconciliation with her sister. But, still bitter from years of being put last, her sister kills both of them with a poisoned Last Supper.

Wow, thanks for sharing that. I knew something sinister was going on here... {#Shifty}

Speaking of The Tijuana Brass and veering even further away from the topic of the actual song –

I was about 8 or 9 years old when my parents took met to see Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass at the Carter Barron Amphitheater in Washington DC.

They were good.

But what I really liked was the opening act.

Some unknown girl group that went by the name of Diana Ross and the Supremes.

They were awesome! I tried to get backstage to get an autograph but security wouldn’t let me.

I can see that though I thought of Star Trek first.
Jesus Pete it's a mystery how I missed this band when they were fresh.  Her voice is timeless, as is their lounge-cool sound.  (Snapping my fingers on every other beat, behind a pair of dark Foster Grants.)

Sometimes, and this is one of them, HER VOICE, and that spacey '60s music, sends me to a very very special and groovy place, with shag carpets, black lights, bead curtains, incense, and Formica...  I am really loving most of the last hour or more here on RP!  Fabulous!

First time I heard this tune was on RP about 2 years ago...another group I wouldn't have thought about checking out. Thanks Bill for expanding the horizon.
I always think of Connery's  Bond movies when I hear this album. And yeah, I hear the Star Trek wailing as well.

Her voice and the whole ambiance of the track is intoxicating—when you connect them to the right imagery ... {#Cheers}

And btw, she is HOT, as women should, "MEAT" in the right places is good, Bones are for sick girls that have BAD breath b/c they don't eat ..

Great tune, long live the 90's!

Nice CD cover (w/the Porsche 911 & the woman in red).  Did not like this particular tune ("One") but would like to hear more...{#Curtain}

I agree - unless they're skin and bones and can't even remember the last time they had a decent meal (you know, the heaving, sweating, skeletonlike variety of women about to drop dead), it's just not worth it (!)

Interesting segue from Doves - Satellites, in that particular way which I can't quite tell yet whether or not I really like.
Perfect start on a rainy Monday morning. Now I think I'm ready to do some work...

Works for me. 7 for the song, plus 1 for the lady in red on the cover
Song was pretty good, but the backing vocals made me think of the Phantom of the Opera.
was cool then, still cool

Oh, I'd hit it, too. Especially if she was cooing in my ear with that sweet voice!
I'm buying this just for the album cover. She's perfect except for the shoes. I would like a more rounded toe, possibly an open toe, but definetly a strappy shoe. I think those ultra pointy shoes are hideous. My wife has some of those open back clog type shoes with a slight heel and a little strap and buckle on it. HOT HOT HOT!
She sounds like she's a stalker.

I love the Duane Eddy-style guitar in the background.

Ok guys, the very beginning of this song is the same tune as the old song from the 60's and it goes "see the tree, how big it's grown, but friends, it hasn't been too long, it wasn't big." I forgot who did it, but it was a guy and the song was a weepy song about his wife who died young. "Honey" I think it was called. Interesting how Hooverphonic samples popular 60's tunes...
Yeah, and this steaming pile is just as bad as Goldsborough's tune!

Some of Hooverphonic's music is magical, they have a very unique sound, how do they do that?
Pleasant. Would make nice background for your hot stone therapy session.
Nothing fancy, a fairly dull music-attempt, though I Hear potential in the various musical elements.
