This tape stayed in my Walkman for ages. I stumbled on her after hearing her version of "A Midnight Clear" over the end credits of the movie of the same name (an excellent anti-war movie, unjustly forgotten).
I really have enjoyed this album. Then I had to listen to the la la's on Gilmore Girls and it's just not as fun anymore. Rats.

Brilliantly mixed in after Crowded House tune. Like the haunting yet understated vocals with ethereal qualities. Nice harmonies too.

Even if I've said this before, this is such a beautiful song. The music, lyrics, instrumentation, vocals, tone, and mood all mesh together perfectly.

I remember in the '80's when she was known as Leslie Phillips as a christian artist. She was considered "fringe" among the christian music scene. I'm glad she found her groove.

I really like this. Sounds eerie wheh she says "private storm" and the subtle electric guitar line reminds me of tumbleweeds in a ghost town.

Her voice is right on the edge of irritating for me ... but somehow she manages not to cross that line. And she's quite a good writer. And her arrangements are always right on target. So yeah, it works for me. 
And the first tropical storm of the year rages outside, beating rain against my windows and roof, to this accompaniment. Right now. Wonderful.

I saw her on Bruce Cockburn's Burning Light tour as well. T-Bone Burnett came out with her to play guitar. She did a very good set! Bruce was amazing! It was a great night all around. An interesting side note: Sam Phillips was not the original opening act for the tour. Mark Heard was to be the opening act. For reasons I cannot remember, he had to bow out. All of them - Bruce, Sam, Mark, and T-Bone - were friends. After Mark's untimely passing in 1992 from a heart attack, Bruce would write and record Closer To The Light in Mark's memory.
