The albums that she released with Nonesuch were such a change in direction for her. Nonesuch was a great label that gave artists a lot of creative freedom.

The 1st time I heard Emmy Lou in '74 approx. I immediately went out and bought the Elite Hotel album. Loved her ever since. We went to see Emmy Lou, Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin & Buddy Miller in an acoustic show at Ravinia (Chicago area) a few years ago. It was a surprisingly sparse attendance but what a wonderful show!

I don't want to like ElH's voice, but it seems I do anyway. Wrecking Ball is a fine piece of work, but the vocal timbre on this piece appeals to me more.
Her voice is amazing. She's so expressive. I wish I enjoyed listening to her.

I'm a lifelong Emmylou fan. I ended up buying nearly all of her albums. I love the way she sings — and how her style is never boring for me. I'm giving her a 10 on this altho it's not the best song on the CD. After my dad died, I listened to "Bang the Drum Slowly" over and over...

Emmylou has forgotten more about music than most artists have ever learned. She's rather iconic. Granted, she's an acquired taste for some people who adamantly repudiate country music (yup, I was one of those people, once upon a time...) but her history speaks for itself. She's amazing. (P.S. - I love "Wrecking Ball"!)

A goodess. Saw her live awhile back - just an awesome show. I was lucky enough to see Emmylou at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz after Wrecking Ball.
She put on a Concert acoustic guitar that was almost as big as she was.

It certainly can`t be because of her singing abilities . She always reminds me of some singer/songwriter you might hear at a local coffee shop , on open-mike night , who smells of Patchouli , and tries way too hard because she has to compensate for her limited abilities .

Exactly !! You , and many others love her . I don`t . This is what makes the world go `round , (and I did say I did`nt get it ) . I`m luke warm with Neil , but love Bob . Go figure . I`m sure there are many artists I really like , that you`d probably take a pass on . No harm , no foul .

In Bill's defense, it's really great when his playlist matches my mood, like a home run. Of course you can have too much of a good thing, and that's when Bill changes to something else. In my opinion a DJ who knows how to choose the right songs can really enhance your enjoyment of the music.

Woah! The man is entitled to some rest! It's only 8:00AM down in "Paradise" right now... But I agree with mixing things up a bit though... I know making good "segues" is important, but variety is not to be denied either. Why not try this suggestion, Bill:
I wouldn't mind having totally random 5-song segues of a particular genre. This would give a chance to the "never played" songs in the library to "get noticed" too and maybe lessen the complaining about the lack of mix on RP. When Emmylou does moody, smokey, dark - I could fall into her voice - liquid honey. 
Red Dirt Girl was the CD that sort of dragged me into the Emmylou camp, so I'm a newbie. We have lots of earlier stuff, and I like it all, but it's always refreshing to have an artist show some new moves.
I saw her live just after that CD came out, and the crowd didn't quite know what to think of the new stuff. I thought it sounded fantastic.
Definitely certain sets are repeated, which you can tell from seeing previous comments. Hey, there's one DJ, and you have to expect that Bill occasionally needs to go grocery shopping or something, so he pops in previously-played playlists, which is what I'm guessing.
