One of these days
When you figure, figure it all out
Well be sure to let me know
Well I'll be waiting right here
Come and whisper in my ear what it is I want to know
One of these days, gonna get into it way on over our heads
And you'll find that there's no place to hide
But if you fight and if you fail, don't fall back into yourself
You can fall back on me

One of these days
When you figure it, figure it all out
Put your lips against my ear
Tell me it all
Or tell me just a little bit, you know
You know it's what I wanna hear

One of these days
When you figure, figure it all out
Well be sure to let me know
Well I'll be waiting right here
Come and whisper in my ear what it is I wanna know

One of these days
When you figure, figure it all out
Put your lips against my ear
Tell me it all,
Or tell me just a little bit, you know
You know it's what I wanna hear

To me THE classic CVB album and one of my all time favorites.
Fab bass
Jonathan Segel's violin on this is sublime.

Because we all know, a stale Cracker is not pleasant!
nice simple song, with no inane dubbing, effects, over production etc. - like a sonic oasis!
If you like Camper van Beethoven, but find Cracker a little stale, check out the Monks of Doom.
Intro had me thinking Colin Hay
Still loving this song.

Would those more in the know agree that Camper is Lowery's more goofy side while Cracker was his more straight ahead side?

I'd put it a bit differently and say Camper was more experimental and Cracker is more commercial, but yeah.
great song, but the version on 'key lime pie' is where it's at
Wow...this does not sound like 1988!?  I would have thought this was a new release.

This tune seems to have more blood in its veins than most I've heard from The Decemberists.
Cramper Van Beethoven?

My guess was that you give way too many songs ratings of 9 and 10.
(Verified my suspicion in looking at your song profile)

Rating system in my head;
11 - goosebumps - a handful merit this
10 - superb
9 - excellent
8 - pd good
7 - good / default when I hear enough to know its a maybe - then it's adjusted later

——————— this is the dividing line between like it / dont like it

6 - ok but wouldn't choose it myself
5 downwards - don't often distinguish these as this is the i really dont like it group

Loved this song for so long.  Fabulous.
Interesting song, me thinks I like it !!
Happy memories, here. In HS, this band planted the seed of the idea for me there was a place for violin in pop music (beyond Come On, Eileen).
pls play Civil Disobedience, I know you rejected it but it's an awesome song.. {#Mrgreen}
{#Bananajam}Simply feel good when listening to this song
Cracker Van Beethoven?

I gotta record my vinyl copy of this ...
One of many amazing sets Bill. Thank you!

The Clash- Sandinista
Zevon-Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner
And now Camper Van Cracker
I like it.  I like it a lot.

thumbs up for both the bass line and the dearth of energy 8)

One off my forever on a desert island albums
A perfect song - from a time in my life when I was KING of the WORLD !!!

19, good looking, full of moxy, & fearless.  Ahhhh....

Cvb...such a great band...i hsd forgotten how good their songs arw...thanks rp.

Oh the memories!

I love this album, listened to it back to back on my old Sony Walkman, number 50 bus into work one miserable winter way back  in 1989.
I'd heard nothing like it before, just blew me away - and of course, now, this type of crazy mixture of styles is fairly common place, I'm fairly sure, back then, it wasn't.

Definitely a band far ahead of their time.
I love this song so much!
Just simply great!
I love this..how entertaining!

One of my all time favorite songs - this hit the nostalgia button like few other songs possibly could - on so many levels - to hear it on the "radio" is amazing, to say the least.  I just can't believe RP.  How lucky am I?
Thanks for taking me camping, Bll!{#Guitarist}

Bill, I love you.  During the previous song, "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner", I was thinking something from this album would make a good follower due to the Patty Hearst -> Tania connection.

Unless maybe this is a repeat block and my subconscious remembered the link from before... :)

Hrm... could be.

You listen to this station enough and you'll experience the expectation of a song you like following up a song that is playing cuz you've heard that segue a few times, and then Bill will play a different song and you'll be all {#Sad}.

Yay, thank you!

Also: Great segues these last few songs.

Recommend New Roman Times from 2005 - amazing.
I like Pink Floyd's version better.
I've been a big CVB fan since the early days. I love hearing this, especially at work! LOVE THIS STATION!!!

I have seen them live, only once, they are so tight that they can reproduce their live recordings incredibly close to the studio sound.
Also they have a live album called , "Greatest hits played faster" The track, "One of these days is on this record. They also do a version of , "All of her favorite fruit" on this record, in a full orchestrated version done live, its really outstanding. I think I bought this CD from their website, not sure if its available on I-Tunes.

the world doesn't need any more useless plastic lying around, thanks.

Terrific band, Lowry was in his prime for writing great songs.Well ahead of their time for sure.
Amazon link clicked. CD bought. Thanks for reminding me about this track Bill!

The nice part of this portion of the site is that listening is not involved. It's all reading. One of these days is pretty fine and the violin is actually in tune to the other instruments.

just the ticket for a gloomy am

Yep, I'll second that. CVB were more bonkers than a swinger's club :o)

Yeah, very smooth segue from Gogol Bordello's Tribal Connection.

Love this song.

This is the way to respond to someone who is breaking up with you. Ideally.
Oh Bill, that was about the smoothest segue I've ever heard. Hat's Off man!!!
I love me some CVB.....reminds me of the years I can't remember much of, if that makes any sense!

Yes!  I agree.  Seems like Camper Van Beethoven just pulled all the stops, and rarely conformed, where Cracker conformed more.  I love CVB!!!  Big part of my youth...sigh...{#Yes}

Saw these guys summer before last.  Loved 'em.  Long Live Camper Van B.
ha! still love it.
Don't let that reggae drop.
I always loved these guys. This song almost has a reggae beat to it.
Extra solid tune.

This is a fun one--unlike a lot of listeners here, most of this stuff is new to me. . .where the heck was I all those years. .
Wow, haven't heard this song in years! Thanks for the pleasant flashback, RP.
Hm. These guys have grown on me since I last heard them . . . and the f***** feed cuts out.
Excellent album.....
Good transition from Gogol Bordello!

More adolescent drivel from someone who somehow has figured out how to use The Internets Tubes to find music. Enjoy!
Camper Van played a few tracks after 'Pink Moon', which was used in a VW ad... nice one!

Last week I had skinheads in my yard. Funny though, last week I agreed to go bowling with my wife, kids, sister in law for the first time in my life! So I shaved my head and wore all black clothes. Take the skinsheads bowling, take them bowling. Now I have to wear a hat the rest of the winter. It's fng cold up here (with lots of snow)!

For the past couple of days you guys have really been spot on with the music, great sequence of tracks, awesome CVB song.

man i dig this song. flashbacks to junior year summer vacation at the beach...
Somebody explain to me why this reminds me of an extremely slowed down version of Men @ Work's "Land Down Under"? haha.. ~shrugs~
Two Camper songs today were two too much.
Love the Camper. Should have been named Camper van Wolfgang

what ever happened to Camper Van? Are they still out there? Do they still gig or put out albums? This song brings me such foggy sweet memories of my highschool years...
They will be playing this Sunday (11/14) here in Richmond. They are playing a benefit concert for rasing funds to rebuild the Shockoe Bottom area that was devastated by the flood. The concert is called Back the Bottom. You can find out about it at www.richmond.com.
One of my all-time favorite songs. BTW, Camper's new CD is very good. I highly recommend CVB/Cracker fans (and others) check it out.

One of these days when you've figured it all out . . . Still waiting for that day, but I really, really enjoyed hearing this again. What a great thinking person's band!
Please play "Take the Skin Heads Bowling"!!
