I guess I should've known by the way you parked your car sideways
That it wouldn't last
See, you're the kinda person that believes in makin' out once
Love 'em and leave 'em fast
I guess I must be dumb 'cause you had a pocket full of horses
Trojan and some of them used
But it was Saturday night, I guess that makes it all right
And you say - "What have I got to lose?"

And honey, I say little red Corvette
Baby, you're much too fast (Oh)
Little red Corvette
You need a love that's gonna last

I guess I should've closed my eyes when you drove me to the place
Where your horses run free
'Cause I felt a little ill when I saw all the pictures
Of the jockeys that were there before me
Believe it or not, I started to worry
I wondered if I had enough class
But it was Saturday night, I guess that makes it all right
And you say - "Baby, have you got enough gas?"
Oh yeah!

Little red Corvette
Baby, you're much too fast (Yes you are)
Little red Corvette
You need to find a love that's gonna last (Oh, oh)

A body like yours oughta be in jail
'Cause it's on the verge of bein' obscene
Move over, baby, gimme the keys
I'm gonna try to tame your little red love machine

Little red Corvette
Baby, you're much too fast
Little red Corvette
Need to find a love that's gonna last, hey hey

Little red Corvette
Honey, you got to slow down (Got to slow down)
Little red Corvette
'Cause if you don't, you're gonna run your little red Corvette right in the ground
(Little red Corvette)
Right down to the ground (Honey, you got to slow down)
You, you, you got to slow down
(Little red Corvette)
You're movin' much too fast, too fast
Need to find a love that's gonna last!

Girl, you got an ass like I never seen, ow!
And the ride...
I say the ride is so smooth, you must be a limousine

Ow!
Baby, you're much too fast
Little red Corvette
You need a love, you need a love that's, uh, that's gonna last
(Little red Corvette)
Babe, you got to slow down (you got to slow down)
Little red Corvette
'Cause if you don't, 'cause if you don't
You're gonna run your body right into the ground (Right into the ground)
Right into the ground (Right into the ground)
Right into the ground (Right into the ground)

Little red Corvette, oh

I saw him a handful of times, and sadly the last show he did in Oakland was unique in that it was absolutely horrible.
Terrible sound - people who paid $500/seat came down to stand next to us ($100 each to stand) saying they couldn't hear a thing. Neither could we.
Had Third Eye Blind with him, who were very good, I think.

He sat at a sampler, punching a key sampling a bit of one of his songs, and he'd sing a few lines "I could do this all night." Uh, did you not know you were gonna do a show tonight? Focus, plz.

But the AFTERSHOW! The stage lights stayed on for an hour and a half while we waited, even though I had to be up early and my wife was very very annoyed with me. "But, baby, there's the after show! It's legendary!" And, after keeping us sitting there nearly two hours (!) someone came out and took apart the drum kit and they turned the house lights on.

All the other times he had been fantastic, but not this time. Sadly, his last.

LOL! Nice comparison :o). Here's a question for the grrlz on here: wtf is so sexy about Prince? Loads of women I've known say they wet themselves over him and that he's sex on legs, but to this str8 guy he just looks like a butt-ugly beanpole who needs a good feed. What is his attraction? Mind you, I've never figured why Russell Brand, a Prince lookalike IMO, is considered so fanciable.

I'm not a girl, but I saw Prince in concert back on his Rave u2 the Joy Fantastic Tour. The man didn't radiate sex -- he WAS sex. He was the walking, jumping, wailing, flirting, teasing, personification of sex. I've never seen anyone, and I have seen hundreds of concerts, but I've never seen anyone with the kind of stage presence he had. Everyone all the way up into the nosebleeds were right in the palm of his hand that entire time.

Also, it really, truly is a fact that sexy is 90% confidence and attitude. He was overflowing on both, though they were themselves dwarfed by his talent as a musician. RIP Purply Goodness.
Listening in 2021 an album called 1999 released in 1982. Bravo Prince.
He died in 2016, you could do the math....
+1, well sort of, by marriage, Paul Simon (she moves on) was next on the playlist.

With only a day left in this deadly year, I think I see a theme developing in this set; Musical greats we lost in 2016:
Bowie, Leonard Cohen, Glen Frey, Greg Lake / Keith Emerson, Leon Russell and now Prince.

Here's a very long and very sad list:

thanks for that pic Imkirok
I snatched it and printed it out on glossy photo paper

Corvette tribute to Prince
Wow, had not heard this for a long time. It's 80's are showing.

cranking it all the way to 11 here in the office  <3
So long, Purple One!

Fully agree!!! This goes for all Prince-songs. Yeck! Please skip this artist known as Prince.

IMO some of  Prince's screams are right up there near Al Green (coolest controlled scream ever)
I've got to give this a 10 in the hope that it will encourage Bill to play it more (really don't care for "Purple Rain" at all).  Actually around 9.5 I think.  Now "Housequake" on the other hand.... ("...and if you ain't hip to the rare housequake?  Shut up! Already!  Damn!").

For me, at least, it's that you could get up to nasty, nasty things with him and yet he'd respect you in the morning.  I dunno - I just get the impression that he really, really likes women.  And there's also the sexy growl... And the guitar playing prowess... And the deep brown eyes...

I remember watching a 'behind the music'-mentary or something similar where Carmen Electra was asked about doing the naughty with Prince. IIRC, she made a yawn gesture...

Just throwing it out there {#Twisted}

Regardless, the guy is unbelievably talented and I wish there were some deeper cuts of his work on RP.
...outstanding, very nearly godlike, just inspired groundbreaking genius...
{#Tongue}  Little Red Corvette indeed

Can't comment on the attraction issue, but any comaprison between Prince and Hannah Montana is either extremely ill-informed or a simple troll. A person may not like his music, which is fine....there is a lot of his stuff that I find unlistenable as well. But to deny his brilliance as a musician, singer, songwriter, and performer is criminally stupid.

I could not agree more.  Prince has charted his own course in the music industry and has fought to maintain control of his music. His commercial success in the 80's and his admittedly bizarre behavior at times tends to be all some ever look at.  Amongst most musicians I know (and I am not one) he is widely respected for his talent.

Miley Cyrus is a fabricated commodity completely controlled by an entertainment company for the purpose of separating money from the wallets of parents of undereducated adolescents.

How about Elmer Fudd's favorite?  Wazbewwy Bewway.
YAY!  This is one where I don't need the ratings to go to 11, just the speakers.

Exactly. More Prince would be quite welcome on RP...but why not play his better songs?

Second that.

For all you haters out there:
(pillaged remorselessly from Wikipedia)
As a guitar player I have to stand behind that last stat especially.
This song does not belong in the Radio Paradise playlist.

Technically, without the ' to signify a glottal stop you've written something that would be read as "Die Int".  Di' int would be better.
The Boss last night performing at the SB halftime was great, but Prince was just awesome a couple of years ago.

I have to say that although I'm not a big Prince fan (or whatever he's calling himself these days) I do have a guilty fondness for this song.  Nice to hear it again.

Great song from the pioneer of the Minneapolis Sound.  Keep playing Prince. Maybe a little something from the Time?  Oh-ee-oh-ee-oh.
