We're bound to wait all night,
She's bound to run amok,
Invested enough in it anyhow,
To each his own...
The garden needs sorting out,
She curled her lips on a bough,
And I don't know if you're dead or not,
If you're anyone...

Come on and get the minimum,
Before you open up your eyes,
This army has so many heads,
To analyze...
Come on and get your overdose,
Collect it at the borderline,
They want to get up in your head,

Cause they know and so do I,
The high road is hard to find,
A detour to your new life,
Tell all of your friends goodbye,

The dawn to end all nights,
That's all you hoped it was,
A break from the warfare in your house,
To each his own...
The soldier is bailing out,
He curled his lips on a barrel,
And I don't know if the dead can talk,
To anyone...

Come on and get the minimum,
Before you open up your eyes,
This army has so many heads,
Are you one of us?
Come on and get your overdose,
Collect it at the borderline,
They want to get up in your head,

Cause they know, and so do I,
The high road is hard to find,
A detour to your new life,
Tell all of your friends goodbye,

It's too late to change your mind,
You let loss be your guide...
It's too late to change your mind,
You let loss be your guide...
It's too late to change your mind,
You let loss be your guide...
It's too late to change your mind,
You let loss be your guide...

This comment made my day. {#Roflol}
the beginning of this song is my ringtone...
I usually dont mind this song playing in the background, but today, PSD
Love this song. The video is brilliant, too.
Ho-hum - kinda boring....percussion sounds like a 7th grade band member

My 7th grade son plays percussion in the school band.   He can't play this.
Dreaming to endless...
Love this song
This is a GREAT album - not a song on it that I don't love.

Wasn't that a Lionel Ritchie song?
Does anyone know if M. Ward sings harmony on this track?

I've never noticed it before, but I swear I hear his voice near the end of the song.
It's that one sour note in the chorus that prevents me from really liking this song.
Hated the LP at first but like many of the great ones it has become one of my favorites of the last few years.
So very glad they have released a second & hope for more to come.
Thank you Rp for keeping my love for music alive & wanting to seek further into corners I have not yet traveled.

It's not the lyric but the sound and the tempo that seem similar to me.

He hires Bouncy Castles in Yorkshire. This is a tribute song. Apparently.

"Come on and get your rub-a-dub"??
I hear Supertramp and James in here. All good.
Definitely has a Band of Horses sound in the chorus.
Ok, I give in: who's Deano?
LOVELY!

SERIOUSLY!

The song is nice, but I find the album to be rather weak!
God i fucking love this disc!
I'm chilling and this is sounding good.
Everbody in the hotel room next door love this song!

...apparently.
Much to my disappointment this CD is better than the most recent Shins-album.
Awwww yeah, this is seriously good.

I just picked up this CD and was very impressed.  It plays very well all the way through.
Do I hear some Moog in there?  Today's Google Doodle is the Moog Synth.  :-)
First time hearing. I like.
LOVE IT = 8-9
Musicmucous! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.... wake me up with some actual singing and playing, Mr. Music!
This song always makes me turn up the radio!

Good stuff. This has been stuck in my head for a couple of days now. {#Bounce}
Supertramp, is that you?  Sounds "logical" to me...

I was liking this for a long time, but it's overplayed, in my opinion.

This is one of those songs that grabbed me in a very visceral way from the very start.

I was working as an intern in an office that had background tunes playing all the time throughout the shared spaces. Every now and then this song would waft my way and I'd stop and TRY to hear some of the lyrics so I could look it up later to find out who the band was! Frustrating...since I could never just stand around and not look busy for enough time to hear anything clearly.

Finally one day I heard it and the radio station identified it! Bought it on iTunes when I got home that day.

Great song!
Really digging the eclectic instrumentation.

During work hours, this is the only radio station that I can listen to which makes it even more frustrating. (works firewall). Believe me, I would be listening to WUSC if I could and there would be no whacking my head against the wall I assure you. Not very curious after all.

Hmmm. I hope not. While I like this song and album and dig the stylistic departure for Mercer, I think Shins music is much more interesting unique. I hope they put out another album.

Agree 100% – this album is interesting and pleasant, but doesn't replace the Shins in any way. I hope he releases more music in the Shins vein.

Hit the road jack, sea legs, sparrow and wolf and now this! Go RP!

Agree. On a couple long road trips recently, I've listened to SirusXM "The Spectrum" channel, which is their closest program to RP. I could count on hearing this at least twice a day! (And everything else, too—their playlist is much smaller and less diverse than RP's, but much overlap.)

You know I used to like this song, but it is not one to be heard every other day!{#Snooty}
Ah Ha! Finally caught the name of this one. Kept hearing it at the Starbucks.  Love the video game sound effects.  Reminds me of Crystal Castles

Evolution of The Shins! Nice!
This song still sounds soooooooo great!
Really digging this song.  Great groove!
I will always associate this song with a fantastic ocean getaway at Gulf Shores, Alabama.....where I first heard it on WZEW (Mobile).

the synth riff is cool...

very Telstar {#Good-vibes}

If I were a more talented singer and Brian Burton came to me with a collaboration proposal, I'd jump on it like a duck on a June-bug! He seems to have a musical Midas touch.

Broken Bells makes me happy.

Ahhh!!!!

Good song... never heard of them before. Thanks
I love this - it's just great

Great. Rare to her James Mercer sing in his lower range. The whle album is really good. Not sure if every song is radio quality on its own, but as a whole it's excellent.

but I can't quit listening to it...another, among many, RP breakthrough find...my itunes bill is getting out of control

Tom Cochrane and Red Rider meets Air.

I'm picturing the choreoghraphy that would go along with this song!!! :)

Well, there's a Foghat song called "It's Too Late" which contains that phrase, repeated several times. I don't know the song and I bet that's not what you're thinking of, but who knows? It IS a ballad.  You can listen here for yourself...

This reminds me of a Jack White song for some reason.

Yep, I hear it!

I like this song, but the backup vocalists are annoyingly flat during the refrain. I would've done another take or performed some studio trickery to fix that.

You mean like every R.E.M. song?

Danger Mouse has now backed two ventures that I absolutely love (Broken Bells and Gnarls Barkley), three if you count the Grey Album. There's not a thing the man can't do.
Daffodils and magnolia in my mind music.
Spring in The Netherlands

I originally thought the lyric "you let loss be your guide", was "you let laws be your guide"

Finding all the beeps and buzz really annoying right now. Not sure if it's the song or just my mood near the end of a long day... but the song is at minimum a contributing factor.
