that initial drum sounded to me like it had been sampled from "down under", the tone and metallic quality.

while writing this, it hasn't inspired me to say anything else except "Beautiful freak" album was a 9.  I bought the plastic.

This reminds me of when it came out...jamming to it on my iPod as I cruised the new and incredible Tokyo MidTown complex, gleaming towers of steel and glass right on the edge of Roppongi...where the hip met to trip and anything could happen...killer food, amazing bars, often with cigars, booze and views at the Ritz Carlton up on the 54th Floor, and fantastic non-stop club action all night long... Zombie movie soundtrack moment...

Our proverbial scared couple during the zombie apocalypse running down an abandoned urban street.  Street lights flickering faintly, giving flashes of the shambling freaks on their slow pursuit...

I'd suggest a vampire movie, but that's too obvious.  Only something lame like Twilight would be so blatant about it, not that anyone that would be involved with that crap would have good enough taste to have ever heard this song.

I've been a huge fan of the Eels since their first album, and this song is SHOCKINGLY good.  The beat is driving, the bridges are disarming, and the peaks are intense.  I can't wait to hear the rest of the new album!
