Mariachi me acompana, quando canto my cancion
Me gustan tomar mis copas, aguardiente es lo mejor
Tanbien la tequilla blanca, con cu sal le da sabor

Ay, ay, ay, ay
Ay, ay, mi amor
Ay, mi morena
De mi corazon

Me gusta tocar guitarra, me gusta cantar el sol
Mariachi me acompana, quando canto my cancion
Me gustan tomar mis copas, aguardiente es lo mejor
Tanbien la tequilla blanca, con cu sal le da sabor

Ay, ay, ay, ay

Ay, mi morena

Order doesn't matter with those!
My guitar teacher and I worked our fingers to the bone to catch the right rhythm and the solo of that musical bomb when it was aired for the first time. We eventually did, and made quite a furore on Slaveykov Square in Sofia. Some German TV recorded and broadcasted our performance. Man, those were the days. :)
This whole soundtrack is awesome!
Excellent!!  I never heard this tune before.  Thank You RP!

Are you kidding?  Los Lobos on backup could make ME sound good, and I assure you that's no small accomplishment.

Some of the best two minutes ever recoded.

Oh yeah!! {#Bananajam}
I wonder if Mr Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman whistled this happy little ditty all the way back to cell block 'try get the fuck out of here'!! {#Cowboy}
HA! Alive by PJ, then this. Could they be more different? What fun.
Grande Banderas!!

He can be a pretty goog actor (better with Almodovar than in Hollywood though!), and even if not a great singer, this is a very nice performance of a classic, Wow!
Aye yi yi!
(and I mean that in a good way) {#Music}

Wow!!  NOBODY plays this song!!  Nice work, Billiam... : )
OMG Antonio Banderas, amazing to picture him singing this.
I assume that was David Hidalgo playing the 'lead' guitar parts. Anyone know?
From Kent to this without any warning, I think my ears have whiplash. But it's a good kind of hurt. {#Roflol}
Very amusing
nice
this would be a good time to post a pic of Salma Hayek from Desperado/El Mariachi. Please play some thing from Dusk till Dawn soon.

Hey ! Can we have a little privacy here, we're trying to eat....  pass the Chicken Mole...
 thanks.....
Well ya I liked em, but man that huge bass guitar right in my face .  . .eeaah.
God, ya just inhaled those jalapeno poppers.

just awful

I officially need a margarita and some chips & guacamole now... thanks a bunch RP.

With all due respect to Mr. Banderas ... he should stick to acting, which *sometimes* he actually did pretty well (in particular, at the beginning of his career when working with Pedro Almodovar) ... Salud! {#Cheers}
How come the average rating is just 7 ? {#Snooty}

Robert Rodriguez was the commencement speaker at the University of Texas (Austin) last May (seems he and my daughter are in the same graduating class - his graduation was deferred slightly after the overnight success of his movie El Mariachi which he developed while a student).
He opened by saying that he had always wanted to wear a black evening gown - HA!

Pronunciation. Spanish.
1. the heart.
2. courage; spirit.
3. love; affection; compassion or sympathy.
4. (often used in direct address as a term of endearment) lover; beloved.

Es cierto. Muchas gracias. {#Hug}
No way! I just watched this movie again a couple of days ago and have had this soundtrack in steady rotation in my car. Awesome song, awesome soundtrack, cheesy fun movie.
Love the music, but love Antonio Banderas more.....Swoon!

Scene 451 – The italian uncle is stoned and wandering through the estate  . . .  enjoying the mariachi dancers, their effusive perfume, the seductive smiles, and radiant garments flailing in the ecstasy of abandon and libation. He (the uncle) sits on the veranda and reaches for his pipe. The sun is dropping below the vineyards. "Magnificent!," he thinks. "this is the majesty of creation, reaching beyond the cosmos . . . into my view."

Amazing to think we were listening to Kraftwerk - Autobahn 3 songs ago...Bill you are amazing.

I think you misread the tone. This is meant to be comedy. Or tongue in cheek tribute to a genre. Or just fun.

The production values on Desperado were much higher, of course, but I thought El Mariachi was more of a film than a movie.
What is this? Why?

Really, this is Shoe's favorite song.

Bad and foolish. So called mexican music with a Spanish ridiculous actor?
totally dig this one. My friend put it on a mix for me a while back. Happily surprised to now hear it on RP!!
NO!!! Too SEXY!!!!
When did RP switch to Spanish format??
*swoon* Me encanta. (I'd switch from French to Spanish for Antonio Banderas. It wouldn't be pretty, but I'd do it.) He's so underrated as a singer. I wish he'd do more Broadway, or release his own album, or something.
Being male, it makes me feel bad when a female artist gets lurid comments based soley on her looks. But after reading these posts about Antonio... not so much any more.
love it and it has been followed by another latin sounding (the doors - spanish caravan) classic

Amen! I didn't know this song was released and available. I'm picturing him on that bar right now. Heartfelt sigh....
This is such a great song! Have been listening to it for years now and it never gets old... I always wondered if this was really antonio banderas (I guess I cannot imagine him without that "puss in the boots" accent any longer)

Quite nice to imagine Banderas singing with the hat and stuffs...

I'd rather SEE Salma...in anything (or nothing, I'm not picky). ;-) Cool tune, and just shows how Lobos continue to make good music without taking themselves too seriously.
AyAyAyAyyy... I like it :D

Actually he is a really cool guy, he still makes his movies in Spain, when he start making movies in America he already had a long history acting. Marley wrote:

If you like this soundtrack (Deperado) try to listen to Tarantula and also Los Cruzados, both Tito Larriva Bands, a bato from LA, by the way he also acts in "Desperado" and in "From Dusk till Dawn."
Sounds like the first Los Lobos LP I listened to in 1982...

That reminds me of Jay and Silent Bob's bit on VH1 "Guy We'd Go Gay For" (not that they're gay or anything...)
If you like the music in Rodriguez's movies, check out the CD "Mexico and Mariachis: Music From and Inspired by Robert Rodriguez's El Mariachi Trilogy" Has his compostions, plus a lot of the music that inspired a lot of his stuff. Has a DVD that comes with it, on which he shows how he scores his movies, and (I think this one also has how to make puerco pibil--not positive.)
