on a beach twenty yards from the roadside
back again 6 AM far from sleep
must be 290 blue on the water
it's gray to me 3 CV is all I see

green can only hold you in the garden
too much red will go right to your head
but if it's all the same to you
give me back my blue
other colors fade anyway

i'm colorblind three way tragedy
pantone memory grayscale eyes
maybe i'm paranoid yeah that's my problem
you almost have to be when you look like me

stopped in the shade of a road sign
when the sun rose like a bomb
tried to read the simple writing
but the letters came out wrong
it's all white lines to me
but things are getting clearer
i can almost read the writing in the mirror

i'm colorblind three way tragedy
pantone memory grayscale eyes
maybe i'm paranoid yeah that's my problem
you almost have to be when you look like me

green can only hold you in the garden
too much red will go right to your head
but if it's all the same to you
give me back my blue
other colors fade anyway

i'm colorblind freeway tragedy
pantone memory x-ray eyes
where'd all the color go on my radio?
you almost have to be a satellite to see.

Always enjoy hearing this one... takes me back to the old days of Radio Paradise.
A very good and original song. Thanks RP.

We're not actually that smart. Just good with tools.

It is amazing that 'half' of humanity is taking us into the future and the other 'half' is dragging us back into the dark ages.  Odd species we are for sure.

Love this photo... reminds of when I was being born...

Looks a bit baboon-like to me...

Porcupine Tree, featuring Peter Gabriel
I really like Kevin Moore's projects, the 3 Chroma Key albums are very good, and better yet his band OSI is one of my all time top favorite bands of the last 14 years.

Beautiful pic & sentiment.  However, Einstein's General Theory of Relativity was presented at the Prussian Academy in November 1915.  That month, the war widens in the Balkans and in Mesopotamia.  The Fourth Battle of the Isonzo campaign begins.  The disastrous Gallipoli campaign is under way.  Suvla and ANZAC bay will be evacuated in December.  We were pretty smart and killing each other just the same.
Buen Rock Progresivo. Demasiado comercial, no obstante. Los ritmos, la voz, los arreglos muy buenos. La composición casi tanto. Muy parecido a RPWL
I thought initially this was Porcupine Trees, what a very cool song and a band I have to check out !
Fun fact: 290 blue and 3CV are Pantone colors. Pantone 290 is a light blue / sky blue, while Pantone 3Cv is known as Cool Gray 3.

Let's play 3 degrees of Steven Wilson!

Prior song was Porcupine Tree (with SW of course), and Chroma Key is Kevin Moore, who is also in OSI, which Steven Wilson has guest appeared and co-wrote the song Shut Down.

Or, Steven Wilson was in PT with Gavin Harrison, and Gavin Harrison was the drummer for OSI's last 2 albums.
Gotta guess he worked in print/prepress/graphic design with this one. Really like this and his other work, beginning with DT.
New to this sound, but love it, & appreciate the personnel background comments.  Super interesting, evocative track.  Thanks RP!
Recorded 21 years ago. Portents of things to come...prog band-wise that is.

Actually, the imaged black hole is not at the centre of our galaxy, but rather at the centre of M87, a supergiant elliptical galaxy in the constellation Virgo . You're only off by 57 million light years or so... :-D

This is what I see when I wake up hungover and look at a Crispy Cream Doughnut.
And I don’t think Steve Wilson would complain as he contributed to a song recorded by Kevin Moore’s other band OSI.
I really like all of Kevin Moore’s work as Chroma Key and especially with OSI. I wish he would record more.

Plus this sounds absolutely nothing like War On Drugs, for one thing the drumbeat in this tune is different than the drumbeat WOD uses in all of their songs.

Ah, good old baroque hard rock.  Pink Floyd would probably lodge a complaint on all of them.

Thanks Relayer for posts like this.  Gives me new material to explore.

I think we can apply the Kevin Bacon game to Steve Wilson and RP song lists.  In this case, Steve Wilson guest appeared on OSI's debut album for the song "Shut Down", and Chroma Key is Kevin Moore, half of OSI.

I really like his Chroma Key work, but remain a HUGE fan of his OSI project.  If you are a fan of Porcupine Tree and Chroma Key, this group should be on your list (as well as Anathema).
This is pretty awesome...more, please!

Seconded. An excellent segue from one excellent song to another. The art of the DJ lives on :)

Maybe the Rockers HiFi track "Going Under" off of K+D Sessions?  a little bit

...hah!..i was just listening to OSI's shutdown on my way into work this morning:  porcupine tree + chroma key...
Industrial strength music...love it!
This one just keeps getting better every time I hear it.
It's okkk, reminds me of the flashbulb.

Interesting segue then, as Cloud Zero is pre-Gavin Porcupine Tree (PT-Cloud Zero/Chroma Key-Colorblind).

From the wiki page:

Despite frequent characterisations of "progressive rock", the music has little in common with it stylistically, and is especially different from Moore's work with Dream Theater, with the exception of "Space-Dye Vest" from their Awake album.

So what is it, techno, psychedelic dance?

interesting
trippy............the subject of this song is timely for me just now, I'm painting.

I love the tune "Graveyard Mtn Home" also
There's something about the production on this tune that is just superb. Dark and swirling. Perfect blend of voice and music.

If anyone's interested, I heard Kevin Moore is working on a third OSI record. On drums this time...Gavin Harrison of Porcupine Tree. Woo-hoo!
Cool!

... And here is some further information: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chroma_Key Great! RP's on prog at the moment!
lyrics are _great_ IMO (see Sobient below) I never would have gotten past the tune to listen to them (as in the tune didn't really get my attention).
Back in 2002ish when I was just starting to get into Porcupine Tree, I heard this song on RP, and I was really impressed. Then a friend gave me his OSI CD to listen to....imagine my surprise to find out half of OSI is this guy, and that Porcupine Tree's Steve Wilson guest appears on the OSI CD. Cool how I discovered all these bands separately, but came to find that they are all related. Thanks RP!

Great transition from PT. And for all you Porcupine fans, I highly recommend this album.

Exactly.
I'm at work with the headphones on and I look over to see who this is and notice the name "Chroma Key". Well DANG if I'm not adjusting the chroma key on my desktop composite at that very minute! COSMIC..........
hah, I had already commented this. :P Still a good song.
oh we are experimental today...
This is genious. Also listen to "Even the waves" it's about the mysterious numbers people listening to radiobands and static noise sometimes hear. For those of you who watch the series LOST on ABC (or whatever channel in your country. In norway it's TVNorge): The song "Even the Waves" tells ALOT of season 1 of Lost. Here's the lyrics (be suprised!) Also, the album (1998) is called "Dead Air For Radios": " Me & judas lost at sea Under electric twilight fading I look at him he sees through me 40 days and we're still waiting I'm not tired but i think i'll lay back anyway I'm not welcome but i think i'll stay Me & jonas lost at sea Deep inside a dream we're trailing Heard him whisper wait for me Sun goes down and we're still sailing I'm not nervous but i think i'll lay back anyway I'm not helpless but i think i'll stay And even the waves won't carry me away Keep heading west that's the best May be lost but i'm not crazy Stay where you are not too far Keep it up you're doing fine Well i thought i was fine Me & joseph lost at sea Under rain and slowly waking He looks around and smiles at me 41 and we're still waiting I'm not tired but i think i'll lay back anyway I'm not hopeless but i think i'll stay And even the waves won't carry me away" This song? 9/10 no doubt.

I like the world-weary vocals and the music, but what the hell is he talking about? Various wavelengths of light? Must be metaphor for something, right?

I generally don't like music like this but this particular piece is catchy...I think it's the piano
well... it's definitely better than Dream Theater.
