I'm tired of being a fool
And my mind going from hot to cool
And trying to conform to others ideas
And someone else's rules
The life I'm living ain't mine
I'm supposed to feel that's fine
I didn't make the world I'm living in
And I ain't gonna toe the line
I'm tired of trying to be something I know ain't me
I'm tired of living up to what people expect me to be
You know some people are different
Now ain't that a crying shame
Now wouldn't be a real drag if we were all the same
And I'm not going to try to please
Eyes that just don't see
If I get myself together
You'll have the blues not me
I'm tired of trying to be something I know ain't me
I'm tired of living up to what people expect me to be
You know some people are different
Now ain't that a crying shame
Now wouldn't be a real drag if we were all the same

My husband turned me on to Savoy Brown 41 years ago (omg I'm getting old) - loved them ever since.
That's the spirit we all need.
DERAM Records! Yippee!
Early Bowie, Whiter Shade of Pale, and maybe Days of Future Passed (?)

I had to think a moment about what that intro reminds me of.
It's probably Breeders - Cannonball.
A nice one from the Way Back Machine!

Thought this was an archive release of Hendrix.... pleasant surprise....

Savoy Brown. Here in the UK they ought to have a medal for services to the music industr. They supported more headline acts than anyone I can think of. Pure toon.

Follow this gem with something from Spooky Tooth II as I did in the sixties!!

Ha!!! I loved this song when I was in my 20s in the 60s, sounds good to me.

I never tire or hearing old Savoy Brown. Saw them at Wooster College (MA) in 1970, Chris Youlden still doing lead vocals.

Sounds so groovy, that wicked bass and twangy guitar, perfectly interwoven by the cool yet disgruntled vocal style; just a KILLER jam!
EXACTLY.

"Wouldn't it be a real drag if we were all the same?" - amen to that! Sadly, there are strong social, political, economic and institutional pressures which are steadily forcing us into increasingly restrictive roles and personalities. (As a for instance, travelling around in a caravan or campervan looking for work, or for the sheer travelling hell of it, has now become a suspicious activity inviting cop harrassment.) It suits governments and corporations to homogenise us, to make for easier management and consumption. It's up to us to fight back against that homogenisation and to reassert our natural variety and individuality. Vive les différences!

I'm tired of living up to what people expected me to be. -- Savoy Brown
After the bars on that sax, I expect to hear
WAR! Ain't nothin' but an undertaker -- Edwin Starr
Sorry, mixing up my the melody hooks in songs...

Nice to hear SB after years without hearing. Anything from Streetcorner Talking would also be appreciated as would a little Capt Beefheart to go along with the yin of Tim Buckley
Great pick. Would love to hear "Stay while the night is young" sometime.
Mmmhmm, yup stingray, way excellantay!
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
Very good band! XXXelent!
I miss Chris Youlden's vocals on top of this excellent English blues band!
Can I go back to those days?
Wasted late nights in Robinson dorm with a wild assortment of Bogarts. Savoy Brown still sounds good, though.
Oh Yeah! The beginning of that was sampled in Transglobal Undergrounds "International times" album!
Just caught the end of this beauty......Damn...
Just finished teaching "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and this song reminds me of the scene with old Pete: "I said I'm TIRED! Awful tired!" This could be Pete's theme song.
OUTSTANDING!!!

Great rhythm!!!!
Such a groovy find!!!
This is SAVOY BROWN...?
Sounds sooo modern and fresh!
WONDERFUL!!!
PS
BLACK KEYS someone?
This is a funky song, very cool, but I don't think it sounds like Hendrix at all.

Oh man that opening riff on the left channel. I gotta learn the tabs to that!
Saw them way back in the 70's with Manfred Mann opening. Great show, no horns just guitar band and guitar playing. Hellbound Train was a highlight
I love Chris Youlden on vocals for SB.

Not my favorite Savoy Brown cut, but a good one. . .
WOW. I was uneducated on Savoy Brown. That was great relief and company in the misery of the heat. Thanks RP!

A K-SHE Classic...been a while. I think the last time I heard this, A seed popped out of my pipe and burned a hole in my shirt.

More correctly, Brand New Cadillac is a sped up "I'm Tired" since "I'm Tired" predates BNC by about 10 years.
Since Vince Taylor wrote Brand New Cadillac in 1958, that dates this at 1948. Kim Simmonds was 1 year old.

LOVE Savoy Brown. This is not one of their best, IMHO. For that, gimme almost any cut off of Raw Sienna. Still, like it, like it, like it.
The singer is really reminiscent of Hendrix. I approve.
I like how there're flashes of all sorts of smoldering jam in here; old Steve Miller, some rock-solid Jimi, hints of Lonesome Dave and Co.'s later Fool For The City... and all of it's ROCKIN' these rainy day blues away!
if this was played in a club or similar i would definately launch myself at the dance floor
"Now wouldn't it be a drag if we were all the same?"
