But were they "Uranium Burgers"?  I guess the price  for the uranium burger included the sides and a drink.

"Well, hon, you let it sit too long. Cooks itself, donchaknow."

Yes, it was an interesting hypothetical, but mainly, the burger picture is making me hungry...only 45 cents!

Deleted back when he did a total delete of all of his posts.  Oddly, while the text boxes are blank, when you hit edit or reply the text will show up.

Here's my first post in this thread from way back when.

Would I launch a counter? More than likely. It would be done for the sake of the future. If it were the end of life on this planet, oh well. But more than likely, not. It must be demonstrated for the survivors that it should never happen again. This makes a lose/lose into a lose/win, maybe. Although I will never be in the position to press the button, I have had nearly 50 years to think about it. Ever since I saw the original "On The Beach", it was permanently etched in my mind. My parents took me to see it as a kid, they thought is was an Annette Funicello, Frankie Avalon movie. They were surprised and didn't really know how to deal with a kid seeing a movie like this. I must have been about 8 or 10 years old. If your familiar with the movie, not the remake, you might recall the sub coming into SF Bay and landing. It was my home at the time and really freaked me out!

Whenever I hear "Waltzing Matilda", I think of that movie and Australia. Maybe that's why I always wanted to move to Australia, besides the surf is really good there. At any rate, Yep launch a counter attack and hope the survivors get it right the second time around, There can be no winners. There are no innocent lives in a war. The evil that started it must be retaliated against even if they survive. It must be shown that there are other ways. Some lessons must be learned the hard way. Wasn't that the point of the movie "Failsafe"?

OTOH, There is Dr. Strangelove... OPE, until we meet again... Don't put fluoride in the water, that's what started us on this path towards mutually assured destruction.

and another a day later that hints at what the original question was.

FWIW, at this point, the US is probably the only country still capable of delivering a full blown devastating attack on this planet. The present threat is generally a local or regional problem that would trigger a domino effect. Or a small satchel bomb detonated by a terrorist group at some strategic location. This discussion is purely academic as the scenario posed by the initial question is nearly impossible today. For those that grew up with the cold war, it stirs up many deep feelings as illustrated by this thread.

Yeah, it's grim, old one, but I was trying to lighten it up since the words "nuclear" and "counter" fit better with the curious picture.
