Somehow Sidney Powell has gone from disavowing in court this spring her claims of voter fraud—-

Former Trump lawyer and conspiracy theorist Sidney Powell moved to dismiss a lawsuit filed against her by Dominion Voting Systems Monday, arguing her earlier claims that Dominion was involved in an orchestrated voter fraud effort were so outrageous that “reasonable people would not accept such statements as fact.”

—to claiming Trump could be "re-instated" to the White House in August, thanks to the "audits" in AZ and other states. Really, I am impressed. I do believe F. Scott Fitzgerald and George Orwell would be as well.

Trump will listen to anyone who has a good tale to spin where he winds up back in the White House. The trouble is that he’s never been one to try and separate fact from fiction. I guess maybe what they say is true... if you repeat a lie long enough you will eventually begin to believe it.

There's a site about nutjob websites (and nutjobs):

Trump and Stop the Steal Lawyer Sidney Powell Say He Will Be ‘Reinstated’ as President
What is giving Trump, Powell, and so-called Stop the Steal activists hope of Trump’s reinstatement is apparently the farcical “audit” being carried out in Maricopa County, Arizona, by Cyber Ninjas, a company run by stolen-election conspiracy theorists hired by Republican state Senate president Karen Fann. Republicans in other states are launching copycat efforts to hunt down evidence of the fraud they claim was responsible for Trump’s defeat—despite former Attorney General Bill Barr’s declaration that the Justice Department under Trump found no such evidence.

From his strange dual perch of irrelevance and dominance, Mr. Trump has been narrowly focused on three things — his repeated, false claims that the 2020 election was “rigged” and his support for efforts to try to overturn the results; the state and local investigations into the practices of the Trump Organization; and the state of his business.

Mr. Trump, who White House officials said watched with pleasure as his supporters stormed the Capitol and disrupted the Jan. 6 certification of the Electoral College vote, has told several people he believes he could be “reinstated” to the White House this August, according to three people familiar with his remarks. He has been echoing a theory promulgated by supporters like Mike Lindell, the chief executive of MyPillow, and Sidney Powell, the lawyer being sued for defamation by election machine companies for spreading conspiracy theories about the safety of their ballots.

President Biden’s victory, with more than 80 million votes, was certified by Congress once the Jan. 6 riot was contained. There is no legal mechanism for reinstating a president, and the efforts by Republicans in the Arizona Senate to recount the votes in the state’s largest county have been derided as fake and inept by local Republican officials, who say the result is a partisan circus that is eroding confidence in elections.

(...)

“If you’re a one-term president, you usually go quietly into the night,” said Douglas Brinkley, a presidential historian. “He sees himself as leading the revolution, and he’s doing it from the back of a golf cart.”

Three Paths to Containing Trump
How left, center and right hope to keep our ex-president in check.
Last fall and winter, the president of the United States attempted, with ineffectual strategy but violent consequences, to pressure Republicans to overturn an election that he quite clearly lost. Now he reportedly believes that swing-state “audits” will somehow reinstall him in the White House by the end of summer. Many of the courtiers who encouraged his earlier delusions are still busily at work; one of them, Michael Flynn, recently suggested (before backpedaling) that the United States needed a Myanmar-style military coup.

This is not an ideal state of affairs. Making it considerably less ideal is the strong evidence that should he want it, the 2024 G.O.P. nomination will be Donald Trump’s to take.

So what needs to happen to keep Trump’s dreampolitik from spilling over into reality again, in the way of Jan. 6 or in some more destabilizing form?

Media?  I believe fans of the Beatles and large numbers of folks who identified with the counter-culture pushed that message of Love on the media.   The media had no choice.  Well, a big chunk of the then media identified with the counter-culture so I am guessing that there were lots of easy decisions.

Upon reflection, it is kinda sad that Christians who identified with Trump did not seem very keen on the Love message.    I have wondered if Christians who supported Trump were to come across Jesus Christ in the 21st century, would they stone, lynch or burn Jesus alive.

Currently, those sorts of folks are more in the forefront of the media. I think that's a product of the "if it bleeds it leads" mentality of the news organizations. They're run by big business and staffed by lazy writers, so they take what they're handed and do what they're told - even when it hurts society.
