Is the Eclectic Mix the replacement for the former Groovy Mix? It seems we've gone off in a different direction, if so. Since the main channel is already characterized as eclectic, maybe this new channel needs more distinction? My initial listening suggests more of a "World Music" focus than the other channels, for example. In any case, I liked where you were going with the earlier Groovy Mix (kind of trippy, headphone friendly, and a reminder that Nixon may have won the battle but he lost the war ;-) ).
I really really liked the Groovy Mix. My husband seems to still be able to get it on his Android phone (must be his cache still running) but I can't on my iPhone. Please reconsider bringing it back!!!! I love you guys and recommend this station LOTS to anyone who will listen! :)

I donât see a lot of difference btwn main and mellow mix. My go-to was the groovy mix - 6 songs. Loved it. I understand the time constraints and the high standards you have set for RP, and I appreciate it. If you find the time and energy, I too would love having it back. If you need help...
thanks for being the one internet station I recommend to almost everybody.

What happened to the Groovy and Rock mix?
We just don't have the time available to properly program the Rock & Groovy channels and bring them up to RP standards. Rather than continue to offer something that is â in our opinion â too repetitive and lacking in creativity, we have decided to pull those two channels, at least temporarily.
I respect that decision, after all, repetition and homogeneity are the two hallmarks of commercial radio.
A better path might be to combine the 'rock' and 'groovy' streams into one; call it 'RP Upbeat Mix' for now. I think you would have enough material in the classic rock, modern rock, electronica and world genres to make it work. Throw in some upbeat jazz, too, and some quality pop/rock music and it would be close to my ideal station.
I have tried the other mixes, and never lasted very long. They just burn out too quickly for me. I listen to RP for the surprises, and the DJ segues. The "My Favorites" list is my go-to when the main mix is just exasperating. I probably spend 20 minutes a month there, but even that gets old quickly because if it strings together a few Beatles and Aretha songs I feel like I'm listening to some oldies station. Don't need that. So anyway, when Bill says the other mixes aren't up to RP snuff, I would agree, and am excited-ish to try them out when they get the stamp of approval.
Thatâs because youâve been around a while and are used to such complaints, as am I, plus youâre probably not bothered by such complaints, either. Good to see you. hope you and yours are well. Iâm rarely here anymore.
Hiya, buddy. Good to see you here. I've been hanging in there; I hope you're doing well.
Years ago we had a listener review channel. And a thread devoted to it. We would offer up songs by upload and they were put into rotation, fully unprocessed with many volume changes and what not. We could vote thumbs up or down. There was no rhyme nor reason for what eventually got accepted or rejected and that was pretty much stated, in other words don't get your hopes up just it made because it made it to the playlist. Then there was a new stream based upon offering up songs that were on youtube or spotify and another source with a stream based on those. I quit paying attention to that part of RP shortly afterwards. A quick visit just now has the list of recent suggestions were you can click and listen on youtube and vote. I still believe that the promotion to the main list is just as chancy as it used to be.
Looking back having been a listener since at least 2001, we have come so far in a short time from one feed with the LRC for awhile, then came the PSD feature and now we have the present version with a host of choices, all hand built by Bill up to a few years ago when we have arrived at where we are now. Not to forget more than a couple of incarnations to the actual website itself. The devotion and perseverance that got us to where we are now is mind boggling.
...Another thought: there certainly has been quite a bit of complaining in the RP Forum about repeated songs and artists, too much classic rock airplay, etc. Why is that?
I haven't noticed much of that lately, though it does come up once in a while. I guess there is some in these newer threads which are specifically about the "mix" channels, but I hadn't noticed it in the more general threads.

Nor omnipotent nor thousand-handed. Hopefully he'll find time to re-work the Groovy Mix and other flavors. Another thought: black321 was thinking in another thread that the bar for getting submitted songs accepted seemed pretty high. Would it be possible for Bill and friends to find a way to create a Submitted Songs Mix that you could click into from the new site's main page? I don't know if the Goldsmiths would be real keen on that although as I mentioned in the other thread I think there's currently a well-hidden way to listen to a stream of songs submitted to RP.

While I'm commenting on the Mixes; I would like to add my 2 cents that the Mellow mix is a bit heavy on the 70's genre; there is a lot of a amazing mellow tunes outside of the era... ;)
I miss it! Strong encouragement to get back to Groovy when you can!

YES - I too STRONGLY encourage you to get the Groovy mix back soon. I totally miss it! It was my jam for productive work for a long time. I know it was a bit repetitive but it was right down the middle for me with the energy and focus it gave me...
Okay, so you offered me cheesecake, lasagna and prime rib. Wayh. You took away the tater tots.
