I know that takes time... and I appreciate your work on that. Along with what you sent out music wise.
On to the tunes..

well it was either this, a sharp stick in the eye or an osmonds tribute

so i went with the aussie/nz route (tons of music there, made sort of a mix)

and after you rip it, you've got a handy, dandy spacer/coaster (please recycle responsibly)

   Ok, have already mentioned how Australia seems to have insisted itself upon me unless in the world of music since I diverted my attention from the blues onto classic rock.  I think Aussies are criminally underrated in their contribution to music history.  Aussies Rock!  {#Guitarist}
1. Nature - Love this song, never heard it or anything I am aware of the artist other work, ok your off to a capital start young man.

2.  Overdose - musically it is high quality just reminds me too much of the Lumineers or something and I am totally burnt out on that scene for awhile. {#Eek}

3.  Bonfires - Song is ok to me, but I really like the background singers and those choruses kudos to the arranger.

4.  Honeymoon is over - Sassy{#Cowboy}

5.  Hutchence is gotta be in the conversation for best rock/pop frontman of all time.  Most certainly in the top 10.

7. White Trash -  Totally reminds me of Kottonmouth Kings. lol

9.  Cool didn't know Powderfinger was Aussie.  Never heard this one.

12.  Never listened too much to the Gurus, but man this sound totally takes me back to university.

13.  Happiness - Obviously the voice sounds different, but musically this sounds very much like a Beck production and there is certainly nothing wrong with that, I tell ya wat.

14.  I have been hanging out a lot between 1968-72 lately and this sound fits nicely into that time period not to mention what a terrific band name.  {#Wink}

15.  Sitting inside my head or is it Lenny Kravitz's head? lol Kudos to the bass player, bass player needs love too.

17. O.N.E. - This is the band I am most familiar with in this mix, but haven't heard this one. Very nice. Always on board with the eastern and African sounds.

18.  Unsent Letter -  Well, that is an interesting band name.{#Stop}  Nice chorus

19.  Chemical Heart - Love this one, one suggestion though the font color and the background make it really hard to read some song info; this is Glickensppoon. Hossenheffer, Gilgamesh, Gorgon, Glickenspiel, Griffindorf??{#Propeller}
Great mix and I can honestly say that I have never heard any of these songs which I always consider a victory for the mixer and listener.  I have actually only even heard of 4 or 5 of the artist tops so you really nailed the landing on this one.  Rest assured we have not heard the last of the Aussies in this club if I have anything to say about it....and I do.{#Cool}

i do send my mixes out to special friends with big dutch foreheads

reason being big foreheads are generally attached to big heads which usually have big ears

make sense?

Okay, for the last time, I am bowing out. I will try to send off a mixtape at some point but literally months go by between when I start to put together a playlist and when I come back to clean it up and I have to stop trying to commit to this because it's always a bust. Hell I can't even get it together enough to gin up a review of the CDs, of which I enjoy ALL of them.. .in the car, etc., when I'm not taking notes. So anyway, as if you didn't already realize it: I can't be in this club Anymore!

Thanks for the musics!

I feel ya. I've been a baaaad mixtaper lately; took a stack of CDs with me on a work trip and still never got a chance to write up a proper review. I am listening to (and appreciating) these collections, even if it looks like I'm slacking. Lately I'm experiencing the drinking-from-a-firehose effect.

So stick around! We're all doing our best. Even if it seems like you're shouting into the void or facing Mixer's Block.

Serendipity, Synchronicity whatever you want to call it has yet again struck me in regards to Australia.  I consider myself a music historian, critic whatever and am constantly doing research on all musical genres whichever strike me fancy at the time.  Was Indie pop for awhile, hip hop, the blues etc. etc.   Lately I have been delving into what I dropped alongside the road or missed going by my window in classic rock which being a middle aged white male is my roots music.  Even before my latest project though, Australian bands have come up prominently to the point of dominance in my findings and not just classic rock.  The Aussies are just as influential as the English when it comes to classic rock and then you put this mix out.  Life can be very strange......{#Eek}

Update on the late May mix. I'm off from work next week and plan on working on laying it down.  Struggling with my music library since my desk top crashed and burned the beginning of the year.

Fingers crossed

A little late with my Down Under & Over review. I've been busy looking thru the want ads and sipping Foster's in the shade.

I've never been to the land Down Under and only have a limited sampling of the music scene there. So it was nice to get a deeper slice of what they have to offer. Very enjoyable indeed. I'll refrain from using an Aussie saying, doesn't suit me. My highlights

Muttenbirds have some nice harmonies, wonder what a real one sounds like...hmmm
Baby Animals put out a good rocker, kinda reminded me of Heart
The Cruel Sea, now that is a GREAT band name, like their sound too
Motor Ace, smooth as a Boomerang
Happiness I found playing over and over. They need a better name than Regurgitator, something like the Cruel Sea
Fat Freddy has some Fat horns, bet they are a good live band
If the Beatles came from Sydney they would have come up with the Tame Impala song
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizards are playing in Brooklyn, filling up the marquee with that weird name
And while we are talking band names, Machine Gun Fellatio? Wonder what names they passed up before settling on that one.

I'm not sure if I mentioned it before, your discs are the only ones where the song and band information displays on my console while playing in the truck. Must be whatever you use to burn your tunes with. Nice feature while driving.

Thanks for the life changing journey to a foreign part of the world. Might have to check the real estate listings soon.

On to the tunes..

1. Nature- The Muttonbirds. Not bad.
2. Overdose- Pierce Brothers. I like this one. Sounds... Australian!
5. Black Fingernails... Eskimo Joe. At first, I didn’t like the vocals on this one... just the music. But it grew on me. Now I like it.
7. White Trash- Steriogram. Rapping. The chorus is better than the body.
8. Oil and Water- Horsehead. This didn’t mix well for me. A little too much metal going on here.
9. Rockin Rocks- Powerfinger. Heard of them... but see #8.
10. Carry On- Motor Ace. Kinda likey.
11. Broken Bones- Birds of Tokyo. I have their “Lanterns” song in my playlist. Their “hit”. Like those Birds.
12. What’s My Scene- Hoodoo Gurus. Big “hit” song! They have some good stuff out there. Love these guys!
13. Happiness- Regurgator. Love the plucky strings. I now have happiness!
14. Wandering Eye- Fat Freddy’s Drop. KCRW-FM turned me on to these guys.
16. Feeling Like We Only Go Backwards- Tame Impala. I have most of their catalog. Like Tame Impala.
17. O.N.E.- King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Familiar with these guys. Not bad.
18. Unsent Letter- Machine Gun Fellato. Never achieved satisfaction with this one.
19. Chemical Heart- Grinspoon. Likable.

I am soooo late on this! Sorry. The usual excuses, including a squad of Spetznatz commandos that rappelled into my living room and held me hostage for weeks. Also—far worse—my work 'puter no longer has a CD drive, and I've been in a work coma for the last 2 months.

That said...I'm gonna start with the packaging. Stellar job! Loved the artwork and double disc layout. What did you use for software?

If I have one teensy criticism...maybe bigger type font next time? Had to squint pretty hard to make these out.

Someday I want a tour of your record collection.

This kind of effort is so valuable! I would never make the effort to mine a genre that never really appealed to me for gems like these, but with the help of a native guide I can avoid the quicksand and go straight to the treasure and get my Indiana Jones on. So many artists I'd never heard of! I owe you a beer, or whatever you're having.

Being late is no problem. I was severely late in putting this out. You see... I was making fun of some of you's for being tardy. And it never fails... when I point out flaws in others ... it comes back on me triple fold. You'd think I'd learn by now.

The product I use for editing/ fixing photos/ adding text is Apple's Pixelmater.  It's so simple even I can use it. AND it's cheap enough. My daughter, whose middle name is Apple, helps point me in directions... when even I can't figure things out. My same daughter set me up with a program in "Apple Pages" to do CD printing. And I still have my trusty old Epson Artisan 835 that, so far, keeps chugging along.
That being said... doing two disc is lot of work. I should have separated them. That gluing can get tricky. I hope they all held up at least for the first play. Yeah, the font was too small on the song list. I was kinda rushed there at the end to get this unit out. It was a big (small) compromise there.
Getting older is heck. I finally got some cheap magnifying readers. They really help for the finer things in life.

I'm so glad you liked this mix. I'm always worried my taste in music is somewhat "mainstream" compared to the eclectic stuff normally put out here in this club.
I'm surprised you missed some of this music/ bands before.
Thanks for the kind words. And the review!
I have a total so far of 272 songs in my Power Pop folder left to ponder over. Maybe I'll revisit this pile again in the future.
Dr. Pepper is my "strong" drink.
  We need to have another "meet up" again.
This is fun!
