It's Transit by Richard Shindell. About a traffic jam, rather than an accident, but it's probably the only song we ever play that involves a nun on her way to a prison. Really fabulous bit of songwriting.
Thanks, Bill! Now I will be able to sleep tonight. I hate when I can't remember a song like this.

I wateched a documentary about Gordon Lightfoot (on Amazon) the other night and was reminded how much I like his "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald." That reminded me of a song I like but I can't for the life of me remember the title, the singer, or the lyrics. At first I thought it might have been Lightfoot, but I checked his song list (270+) and it's not there. I can remember some of the melody, but that's all. It's similar to the Edmund Fitzgerald song in that it's about a big highway pileup and it's sung as a ballad. I remember that it talks about the victims of the wreck prior to it happening and I recall a nun who's on her way to a prison or something. I've googled songs about car crashes or turnpike pileups, etc. but nothing sounds close.
I'm pretty sure RP plays this sone on occaision but I don't have enough information to do a good search. I'm hoping someone here might know what song this is.
Thanks, K
