This is probably a corrupted sdcard.
There is some more info here.
https://forums.androidcentral.com/general-help-how/255566-solved-android-what-do-if-sd-card-mounted-read-only-cant-write-sd-card.html

Have a few options
1. use an app or pc to repair it.
2. Reformat it after backing up anything important from the phones storage settings.
3. Replace it.

Hello, has anyone ever had this issue of the cache location being "Read-Only" trying to cach to the SD card?  I'm running Android 4.4.4

I'm on a Oneplus 3 with Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow).
When I started the app in airplane mode, it played one song and stopped. It took me a while and I solved this totally by chance: to get those (relatively) new "Cache Blocks" to work, one has to 'stop' them (square icon on the right border of the block) and then 'start' them again (play icon left to the stop icon). At least that helped in my case!

Thank you very much in advance, Peter

It's unlikely to be related to the download process, and it's definitely not a compression issue.  The most likely cause is a CPU or memory issue on your phone.  I'd suggest rebooting — & taking a close look at what's running in the background (anything — not just what appears on the current-apps list).  In Android 5.x, go to Settings->Applications. For info on how to see what's running in Android 6: http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/125368/ (follow the link to enable Developer Mode).

Thanks! Will look into it before using it again.

Used the cache for tunes on our roadtrip and noticed an oddity. There seems to be a skip or timing hiccup that occurs with increasing frequency as more of the cache is played. Thought it might have been some sort of issue with our WIFI or internet connection during the download, but the same issue occurred after loading it fresh for the return trip at my inlaws' place. Something in the compression process?

Yes, device storage is low.
I have once (or twice, or more!) done "Clear cached data" - is this where the RP cache lives?

Thanks for quick response.

Yes, 'clear cached data' will delete the RP app's cache.
