From what I had read about it it was made of riveted sheets of metal in sections, not a poured/cast piece of solid metal.
My theory is that it was the world that moved and the steel stayed in place.

That Mysterious Monolith in the Utah Desert? Itâs Gone, Officials Say ð½
âITâS GONE!â the Department of Public Safety said, reacting to the news in an Instagram post. âAlmost as quickly as it appeared it has now disappeared,â the department said, adding, âI can only speculateâ that aliens took it back, using the emoji for extraterrestrials.
âMaybe it will stop by and visit us in Canada!!â one person commented.
It was a mystery how the monolith had been installed in the first place. Lt. Nick Street, a spokesman for the Department of Public Safety, said this week that the monolith had been embedded into the rock.
âSomebody took the time to use some type of concrete-cutting tool or something to really dig down, almost in the exact shape of the object, and embed it really well,â he said. âItâs odd. There are roads close by, but to haul the materials to cut into the rock, and haul the metal, which is taller than 12 feet in sections â to do all that in that remote spot is definitely interesting.â

Yes, a documentary entitled "For All Mankind".
And yes, the entire soundtrack for is stunningly beautiful, most especially Ending - Ascent. But Brian Eno didn't write the whole album. Some of it was with his brother, Roger, and producer/composer/musician Daniel Lanois.
