The Potirothon Reggata - The culmination of Potirothon is the giant pumpkin weighing that takes place in Gentilly on the last Saturday of September. Subsequently, some participants gather on the Bécancour River for a run on the water aboard their pumpkin. It is not necessary to be registered at the Potirothon to participate in the regatta. Ideally, participants should have grown their pumpkin or use another producer's pumpkin. The organization of Potirothon can not guarantee or reserve a pumpkin for a person wishing to participate in regattas.

Canada won't take us :(  My brother bought property in Canada just to start himself on the path to citizenship.  It's very difficult to obtain there.  He and his wife are both college professors.   You have to have something to offer their country in order to be able to live there permanently.  What a novel idea....lol

That is unfortunate because Canada allows in large numbers of unskilled immigrants through family reunification.   Perhaps your brother and wife required a job offering from a recognized college or university?

Perhaps I don't really know but yeah they don't really want Americans up there...lol

Lottery?

Right now might actually be a good time to request political asylum.

17 October 2018.    Cannabis is now legal across Canada.   According to an op-ed essay written by a US pot entrepreneur and published in the Wall Street Journal, this gives Canada a head start in the business in North America.  Federal restrictions on banking and finance remain a significant obstacle in the USA.

A big shout out to Marc Emery and his Overgrow the Government campaign which landed him a few years in a US prison.   With virtually no exceptions, all recreational drugs are dangerous and it is better to manage the negative impact within a regulated, legal market.   Naturally, some of you Drug Warriors may want to ban alcohol and tobacco, and in that case, well, make the argument, I am all ears.

So I went to the BC Liquor Distribution Branch web-site — BC Cannabis Stores — to have a look.  The images on the on-line ordering site were stunning!

Never heard of it.  Sounds like another CBC 'direct to DVD' effort in wasting our tax dollars.

Worse yet.  It is available free of charge on youtube (at least to those with a Canadian IP).

But aside from news and public affair shows, I would agree that CBC should dump television.  That would save a lot of taxpayer dollars.

I missed this growing up.  My parents prevented us from watching television except certain shows on the weekends.

No you didn't, you naive sucker.  This was a mockumentary aired by CBC in 2005....   Silly ass....

I love the skit about 'Provincial cigarettes'.  Which is an oblique way of saying that Canadians were provincial.  So true!   Still are in most of the country.

{#Cheesygrin} I have the DVD set. And even THEN i had to double check. {#Biggrin}

Jimmy MacDonald's Canada: The Lost Episodes is an eight-episode Canadian television series that aired on CBC Television in the summer of 2005

Pasted from wikipedia:

The show is a mockumentary, purporting to be a lost Canadian public affairs series of the mid-1960s, hosted by the fictional Jimmy MacDonald (Richard Waugh) with additional commentary (from a woman's point of view) by Marg Margison (Teresa Pavlinek). The premise of the show is that Jimmy MacDonald's Canada was a wildly popular TV show in the 1960s, but that MacDonald had a breakdown while on the air and fled to northern Canada, taking all of the filmed episodes with him. His plane crashed and he was presumed dead, and the premise is these films have recently been found. The humour of the show is derived from the differences in social values between the 1960s and today. This humour also extends to now-taboo, then-common cigarette advertisements being included in the show, and even the opening credits, which lampoon the similar style of manic, partially animated credits that were common in the era.
