Try not to abuse your power
I know we didn't choose to change
You might not wanna lose your power
But having it's so strange

She said you were a hero, you played the part
But you ruined her in a year, don't act like it was hard
And you swear you didn't know (Didn't know)
No wonder why you didn't ask
She was sleeping in your clothes (In your clothes)
But now she's got to get to class
How dare you?

And how could you?
Will you only feel bad when they find out?
If you could take it all back, would you?

Try not to abuse your power
I know we didn't choose to change
You might not wanna lose your power
But having it's so strange

I thought that I was special, you made me feel
Like it was my fault you were the devil, lost your appeal
Does it keep you in control? (In control)
For you to keep her in a cage?
And you swear you didn't know (Didn't know)
You said you thought she was your age
How dare you?

And how could you?
Will you only feel bad if it turns out, that they kill your contract?
Would you?

Try not to abuse your power
I know we didn't choose to change
You might not wanna lose your power
But power isn't pain

Hmm
Ooh, ooh, ha
La-la-la-la-la

Well said regarding telling women to smile.

I disagree with you on Billie's music though. I kinda like it and think it is worth a listen.

Yeah, go scowl tarts.     But maybe do just smile for yourselves sometimes.

I do think she has talent and a great voice, even if she chooses to mumble sing.

She mumble sings cuz she won't smile!

Here's a little FYI to take to heart: Women of any age, but especially young women just entering adulthood, HATE being told to smile. In my experience, it was always some scuzzy old man telling me to do this. Why the f*ck should any woman smile for you? Smiling isn't necessarily a sign of a cheery disposition, you know--it's a sign of compliance and submission. And before you accuse me of overreacting, ask yourself if you've ever said this about a young male artist.

On a side note, I can't stand listening to Billie Eilish (and I can't believe there is another album of hers I have to avoid), but I will defend to the death her right to not smile for the placation of men.

Ohhhh SNAP!!!

here here excellent burn!

(just like to add im male.....sorry......identify as male)

Great voice!

Here's a little FYI to take to heart: People of any age and gender hate being told to smile. As a young boy I was always told to smile as well (while there wasn't any reason to) and my face just doesn't look "happy" in a neutral state.

Now I just tell them I would smile if they wouldn't look that ugly :P
Is she playing guitar on this track?
I want to like her, I really do. I'll keep an eye on this young lady, but for now all I can give is a "ho-hum"
"It’s an open letter to people who take advantage—mostly men. I would like people to listen to me. And not just try to figure out who I’m talking about, because it’s not about that. It’s really not at all about one person… It’s everywhere. I don’t know one girl or woman who hasn’t had a weird experience, or a really bad experience. And men, too – young boys are taken advantage of constantly.” - Billie Eilish
Her voice has a really nice dreamy quality. Like Mazzy Starr singer.
Curious, the story behind the song?

I can't recall where on Reddit I saw the post but... The author said that some side benefits of wearing a mask over that last too many months was not being told by obnoxious men to "smile" multiple times per day. Also, she enjoyed making secret stinky faces at rude customers.
Her brother Finneas always makes her songs interesting musically.
Imagine the power of a person who refuses to be sexualized by anyone and still remains a huge success, perhaps even because of that refusal...
I wish she was in a heavy metal band...

On another note when the Beatles, and others, came
on the scene way back when, everyone smiled. Then, as time marched on, the more angry the band or artist looked the better. WTF happened?
The whole time I thought this was Feist

When I was a young man I was constantly told to smile, or to cheer up.  Frankly it just made me scowl even more.   So it doesn't only happen to young women.

FYI: This song is about you.
Radio Painful.

Come on! Does she actually ever sing words or does she always just mumble? Are there any real words in the English language that she uses, or what? I do not understand why she is popular in the least.

C'mon. Like the clothes she wears, it her style.

I don't think the poster mentioned men.
What garbage.

To be fair bill, you should mention both her and her bother Finneas as talented. He writtes and produces most of her songs.

Please tell me you're kidding with this. Your smiley face can be taken a few different ways.
Not too many 'stars' look back at themselves and give a shit.

And how could you?
Will you only feel bad if it turns out, that they kill your contract?
Would you?

Still only 19.

This is not the best comeback..... what does that even mean.   Posting hides what?  How?  Lame.

Yep, and quite timely.
The more I hear Billie Eilish, the better I like her...
I am a fan of her ethereal sound.
6 (for now). Billie and her brother Finneas continue to impress.
Very talented #billieeilish... but she needs to smile more :)

ooooh... suck on that Bille...whoever wiseking is has an opinion about your work...maybe next time he will provide a link to his superior work

Yeah, this blows.
She's not fooling me.

The lyrics seem to be saying a lot, or were you being ironic, o wise one?
Not here to appreciate the artist as a whole, but this song by itself is a classic!
Lyrics are pretty heavy.
Not bad. But... All songs I have heard so far are very similar. I think I have heard two in which the tunes (the melodies) were almost identical.
Imagine... I do not know... the Beatles or Guns and Roses singing different words to the same tune.
So. Billie and her brother (or whoever writes and/or arranges the music for her) are original. But genius (as posted here) - not even close.
Very nice!  I'm a fan of her past work and really digging this new piece.  Thanks for playing this, Bill.

Very Nice follow up...
The girl's a serious artist!
Totally different look on this album cover for Billie
really digging Billie"Pirates's" newest effort, so real and "homemade" in a great way.
Initial 8 rating. Long Live RP and quirky youngsters breaking the recording industry mould!!
