Some really cool looking blankets, made by women who "were previously living on the street, or working in sex work (often these go hand in hand), or in a vulnerable situation at risk of such."
"Dignify helps women shop for what they will both love and feel great about buying; that which promotes dignity, empowers humanity, & champions good."

Feminism has never been about getting a job for one woman. It's about making life more fair for women everywhere. It's not about a piece of the existing pie; there are too many of us for that. It's about baking a new pie.
My son's school district is one of only two (in the US?) which closed schools for today. They state that it was not any sort of "political statement" - "Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools values and supports its female employees. However, the decision to close schools is not an endorsement of the planned demonstration," said Jeff Nash with Chapel Hill-Carrboro Schools. "The decision is made solely to avoid operating school on a day when there are insufficient staff to provide instruction and basic school services."
I didn't stay home from work. I hope no one interprets that as non-solidarity. I took 2 days off to move last week—I'd rather save my time off for some sunny vacation.
I'm also not skipping my cat shelter volunteering this evening. Cats gotta eat.
Speaking to my Mom the other day (she's 76) she mentioned that as recently as 1969 when she and my disabled VietNam vet Dad applied for a mortgage on their house, the bank would NOT consider her income as Procedural Analyst in Civil Service, which was considerably more than his disability pension.
1969 and the bank's response: Well, she could get pregnant and stop working.
1995: I was single, bought land and had a house built all on my own financing.
We've definitely come a ve-r-r-ry long way baby. Here's to all the daughters and granddaughters - may their future include even more!
"The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights" Gloria Steinem
I am thrilled to be able to say that my daughter is a post feminist female. She has never been sexually harassed at work, she has never been held back or discriminated against because she is female.
On this day, let's wish for the whole world to recognize women's equality.
