busy today, but i wanted to share a recurring hallucination...
i see the deliberate twisting, churning, cherry picking, finger pointing, booger scab-picking buffoonery trotted out like it is going influence or persuade the other tribe to come around
and who hasn't been caught up in this silliness?
political partisan crack? i've tried it many times and had terrible results
if someone is trying use fear and anger to goad you into initiating or threaten some sort of violence or aggression it's probably a bad idea
don't fall for it
time for my dog to walk me around the block
Is it all fated or fetid or futile? That's a question for the aegis. Ages...something... Thought police are self appointed and blind to extrapolation...

Here we are now 8 years since that post ... I reckon that the Tea Party was right, eh ?
I remember being called all kinds of things when I made that claim myself. Now the Dems are tripping over each other to be the most socialist candidate.
Not socialist, democratic socialist. There are a few democrats that qualify. Obama certainly isnt/wasnt one of them. So, no you and the tea party were wrong, eh.
This is the result when sound bites and the selling of political talking points via saturation campaigns takes the place of thoughtful discourse.
Vast numbers of people have been so brainwashed by discussions driving home the "Obama/Dems are socialists"
and other Tea Party messages decrying social programs that they delude themselves into thinking that they don't rely on the very programs they demand be eliminated:

It's the "Keep your government hands off my Medicare" phenomena writ large: a society of people who subsist on mutual aid and redistributive policies who've been conned (and conned themselves) into thinking that they are rugged individualists and that everyone else is a parasite.
I witnessed this personally when having breakfast at a local diner one day; an elderly gent who drove a van festooned with Tea Party slogans about the evils of socialism sat at the counter chatting with another fellow about how dependent his wife was on medicare for her continued health, and how dependent he was on VA care.
The problem when using words to frame any issue?
Are they true, or not? Are they moral and ethical?
Leaders lead by force, or by incentive.
Which one would we prefer? Which one is moral, ethical and sustainable?
