I still have my championship mug from when my quartet (Kitty Carlisleâs Hot Daddies) won the 1977 LSU trivia bowl. Only legit standing ovation Iâve gotten.
But now? I wouldnât step foot into a trivia contest.
(But I still have an awful lot of crap stored up there in my brain.)
Yeh, but make mine good old toughstuff coarse single ply...I find the supersoft cushy double ply just breaks apart when doing the next-to-final polish and just contributes to the enshittification of everything. YMMobviouslyV. Unbleached, coarse single-ply the only way to go if you dont have something like a bidet or a bumwash shower-thingy like in the East. Personally, I find the idea of just smearing shit more thinly but over a larger area...well, shit. WTF is an end-of-life vehicle if we are supposed to be all panties-in-a-bunch about the environment? Why did the electric kettle we had when I was a kid (tea-drinkers we were) last for 40 years without problem, and the blue plastic replacement my mother bought to match her new kitchen need to be replaced every two years? Why did our old rumble-guts Speed Queen washer last a family of eight 30 years with the odd readily available replacement part whilst the new whizz-bang Philips need to be replaced after five with another whizz-bang Samsung needing replacement after about six? I mean - how do I know the Climate hysteria is just that...hysteria and bullshit? Because nothing is made to last anymore and nothing is repairable. If climate bullshit were real and important everything manufactured would be mandated to last generations. I bought a rake for lawn thatch off of Amazon for about 50 bucks.....it lasted 45 minutes. The cheaper Spanish-made replacement finished the job and is good to go for another many years..... My old 1980's Kenwood TS830S amateur radio rig still operates superbly. My mates who have bought modern software and menu driven stuff are dismally unhappy with how crap their kit is. Why do I wear mostly military surplus boots and clothing and travel everywhere with an old Belgian army surplus backpack? Because all the new shit is just that - Temushit that ends up in landfill after two or three trips into Africa. I prefer to spend my money with organisations that support more closely my values. I try not to buy Chinese shit. The enshittification of everything......boys can be girls, men can have babies, victimhood mentality, fake nails, Botox, plastic tits, narrative not news, ......everything is being enshittified. Back to vinyls, CD's, dumb phones, notebooks and pen, a wristwatch, a camera, DAP, owning my stuff instead of just renting it to listen to for a while. And stuff that can be repaired. Bring back things that can be repaired...... Happy Sunday, people!
You forgot to tell those kids to get off your lawn.
