I realize I’m responding to a 9 year old comment, but I’d support your short list suggestions. We occasionally hear an Art of Noise tune on RP (three show in the music search), but not Cabaret Voltaire. How about something from Micro-Phonies, Sensoria or Do Right maybe?

Interestingly Cabaret Voltaire the birthplace of dada was (and since it reopened is) is located in Zürich.

My first exposure to Yello was in 1983 while watching REM's afternoon "happy hour" soundcheck for their very first gig at Washington D.C.'s 930 Club when it was at 930 F St. Just prior to REM starting their sound check the club was running a Yello music video on the newly installed TV screens, Yello coming in on Rock America which preceded MTV. The video was sorta capitivating. Who WERE those guys? One guy looks like Hitler, the other like a Latino heartthrob of some kind. The tune was catchy anyway and I've never forgotten that experience and I've been a Yello fan ever since.
Clarification: By REM I mean the band from Athens, Ga., not D.C.'s own REM aka Rapid Eye Movement which being a local band without a major label didn't have the legal clout against the Georgia based band of the same name. On this occasion both bands played 930 that night with a contest whereby the audience favorite got to rename the other band. Radio Free Europe won over the crowd and Mike Mills renamed the local DC band to Egoslavia that night and the rest is history. How this relates to Yello reverts back to the RockAmerica video.

Yello did a lot of interesting stuff. I used to listen to them quite often, in an altered frame of mind, and they were very entertaining. Funny thing is I didn't know many people who knew they did anything more than their Oh Yeah song.

I noticed a few people comparing this to Pink Floyd...just in case they were wondering what it was...it's the mmmmmmmm thing; sounds like he's about to say he needs a dirty woman. Other than that, I don't think there's much similarity, but it's not bad just being what it is.
