First, I'd like to add the option to display additional debugging information. What's the download speed, how much time is remaining, how many connection attempts there have been, and so on. It's very frustrating not to know how music is downloading or even if it's downloading at all.

Of course, once the build pipeline is set up and the app's architecture is understood, other improvements will naturally follow. And I'm sure I'm not the only tech-savvy user who would be happy to help develop the app. Once the source code is published on an open platform, more accurate bug reports and pull requests will appear. I'm afraid to sound intrusive, but in my humble opinion, this is simply an inevitable step.

Even though I've been a huge supporter of open source software, and have contributed in (very) small ways to a few projects, I hadn't really considered that move. I'm not sure why.

The biggest impediment would be the fact that the codebase of the new app uses React Native for its base structure, with audio playback and file management handled by native modules. We've been building this architecture for well over a year, and I've come to believe that React adds way more problems than it solves.

What our developer has built now works quite well, but isn't agile & extensible enough to keep up with today's social and tech evolution. The pace of that is not likely to slow down... And we can *not* sustain the development costs involved. You'd no doubt be appalled at how much we've spent so far. And we're not even close to finished.

I think we would be much better off with entirely separate apps, written in Kotlin & Swift. And there is absolutely no reason not to open-source those.

I just had a thought.  While our public iOS app is React Native, the Android version is still in early testing (which I'll happily sign you up for if you like). The current public version is our 5-year-old Kotlin app, which actually works quite well in almost every respect. Just missing a few features, and with some obvious room for improvements. It was written by Jarred, our tech lead, who is now so busy with other projects that it had to come off of his plate. But perhaps that would be a better starting place for an open-source Android app than the new codebase. I'll talk that over with the crew.

I also really like the idea of supporting people who are finding ways to route around censorship. IMHO people in "the west" consider themselves immune from challenges faced by those in Russia, Iran, China, etc. I don't think they're right. I see censorship at work everywhere in our online culture. Often it's in service of capitalistic rather than authoritarian priorities, but it's still a blockage in our cultural flow.

There should be a  button with a  musical note on it.  Can use that to select channels.

I'm having trouble downloading cache block on an Android phone. Nothing happens when I click 'add blocks' and then download. Are these server issues? To add: I do have two blocks downloaded already; is there a limit? On the fourth attempt, it finally started the download. Thanks,

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to share how much Radio Paradise has enhanced my travel experiences. Recently, while on a long road trip, I tuned in to RP and was completely taken by the seamless mix of genres and moods. It felt like the soundtrack to my journey.

One particular moment stood out—driving through a mountain pass while a hauntingly beautiful track played in the background. I wish I could remember the name! It got me wondering: how do you all use RP in your daily lives or travels? Any special playlists or memories?

Also, if there’s a way to find that track again from a certain day/time, I’d love a pointer.

Thanks for the vibes,

Starting this week I request to download 10 hours of the Rock mix on the ios app and it only downloade 4 hours.  If I try to add more hours it fails to download with no error message.  The other channels download fine.

I am also getting "Error Retrieving Cache Block" when downloading My Favourites Mix on 2 separate Android devices.   It does work correctly if I select only 30 minutes at a time.   This has been happening for the past week or 2.   No problems downloading any other channel.

Once you get a device and install the app, visit the About This App in the Google Play store.  You'll see all your devices this app is installed on along with minimum Android versions and whether or not the app works with that device.  We have RP App installed on a Samsung A32, a Samsung S24+ (RP App v4.10.0), and our Equinox using Google Play (RP App v5.0.4), and it says it works with all threee devices.  The phones require Android 5.0 and above while the Equinox requires Android 9 and above.

I've searched, but can't find answers in the forum or FAQ page. I'm looking to buy a used/refurbished Android phone or tablet that will primarily be used for RP and offline listening. No, I won't consider an iOS device.

1. What is the minimum Android version needed to run the app without issues?
2. Related... is there a minimum hardware spec needed?
3. Is the data consumption identical for online and offline listening?

Hi, I could not find my problem mentioned, so here goes: on my main screen in the app the text 'welcome to radio paradise' is displayed across the cover art. This happens on my Samsung A53 but not on the Samsung tablet. Is there a way to get rid of this text?
Thanks for any suggestions!

I found it by clicking the "Apps" button (which is usually a Favorites button at the bottom of the screen - or by swiping up from the Home page).  It should show all downloaded apps - even ones which were not moved to the Home screens, then dragging the RP icon to one of the Home screens.  I have a Samsung phone though - other brands likely have different displays.
