"What kind of music do you usually have here?"
"Oh, we got both kinds. We got country and western."
Name that movie.
"[Jared] are you sure this is the place?"
Old Hank is an important figure in the history of popular music. While not as pivotal as say Woody Guthrie, it is still nothing short of sacrilege to compare him to (shudder) Billy Ray Cyrus. Your punishment is 24 hours of "Achy Breaky Heart" on repeat. ; )
Agree, except for the comparison to Guthrie. I love both but for the vast majority of the population Williams had a greater impact if for no other reason than his far greater popularity.

This is proof that country is and always has been absolute trash music. Zero redeemable qualities of any kind.
Probably the dumbest comment ever posted to RP.
No, wait, no probably. Definitely the dumbest.

The Blues Brothers

The proof is that 70+ years later it's still being played?

Perfect punishment!!!

Easy quiz! 'The Blues Brothers'.
I take it you haven't been to a Hank III show. You might want to give him a try.

The Blues Brothers, of course at Bob's Country Bunker.
I've been here for how long? And never complained. I love Willie & Waylon & Patsy and Lyle. And I can set quiet for Billy Cyrus, and Miley too. But this guy. Jeez. Ah, warn me next time.
shame....

My ex in-laws are from Hank's part of Alabama, around Greenville. Even Hank knew it was a good place to be FROM.

Right on Broham!!
I don't usually offer insults to song commenters, but that is just idiotic!
As Boomhauer says: "hmmm, hmm gona, good hmm, to her, that hmmm, ol, hmmm, hmmmm Hank, hmm, I tel u dagum wat."The Skyline Club in Austin, TX on December 19, 1952. God rest him.

Then there's this - 'Hank Williams: The Show He Never Gave': https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084048/

You said it. I grew up with this shit. It is so wierd that I know all the words to Hanks Williams songs. It was imprinted on me when I was a kid.

Louisiana Hayride?
RadioDoc... You are a GOD! Exactly right.. my wife wonders why I don't like country music today..
I told her to listen to Hank and that's all I should need to say...
It's funny, I so despise country and western music, as it's been played for the past 40+ years, but I dig Hank, Cash, cowpunk, old time swing, etc.
You need more than twang. You need soul. Now go back and practice.

Wow, 11:45 is first thing in the morning? I want your job!
Hank Williams was one of a kind. Too bad he died a few months before I was born.
It was New Year's Eve 1952 when Hank keeled over at the age of 29 in his Caddy
en route to a concert.
i doubt he was tapping his foot along to the beat when he was running.
Damn straight!
You need more than twang. You need soul. Now go back and practice.
Amen Brother Doc

Unfortunately I got the country part wrong. Bleh.
Hahahaha. Good call Joe!
