why do I hear Kings of Leon?

I hear Smoke On The Water.
Don’t you?
Just hear what you hear.
The artist isn’t trying to be anyone or anything except himself.
And guess what?
I’m sure he doesn’t give a banana what you think or hear.
ha.

Yes.  That is Elton John driving the carriage.  ;-)
Oh Henry. Now I want one.

5-7 based on  having to look up from what I was doing to see who this was. Not sure why I rated it 5 the on first hearing.
Rusty!  Rusty!!!!!

I hear that tired song several times a week while driving home, but I do not hear much of a resemblance in this tune, except for them both being in minor keys.  We all hear different things though.
Randy Newman-ish vocals meets Elliot Smith-like instrumentation
French boys doesn't care about the lyrics... i just know that this song make me sing, and Joe Henry has a great voice and is a great singer. I like it.

I didn't...and rather wish I did.
This suits RP very well.....

I didn't catch the lyrics, but I agree totally about his Leon Russell-ish vocal phrasing. Good call!

I had to scroll back, sure that I would find someone who recognized that...

10 for the transition..............
Please, do not feed the cuisine-challenged bridge substructure symbiont. Nice, gentle song for a Friday morning.

how can a dweeb give this a 6?!

Man, amurikins are duh! This guy is at least a 7 maybe an 8.

Poor amurika as she sinks into the seas.

Go to asia if ya wanna see how its done.

Well at least we can spell! If you can't speak or spell the language, keep off the damn keyboard.

Dweeb

Joe has the same affected, mournful twang in all of his songs.
yeah his rhymes are simplistic. But aren't you?
Or are you on drugs?

I'll still give him an 8 because you couch potatoes are dweebs who know nothing but the next joint or beer. Foo

romantic  -   5  /  6.
Is this Henry from Hill Street Blues? Joe Henry?

Guess what, I just looked it up on the mighty interweb: that was HENRY Goldblum, played by JOE Spano. No wonder the bell tolleth.

How about some Parker's Band, ala Steely Dan.

Wouldn't it be cool to hear a collaboration between Joe Henry and Wilco?

i like the whole cd. there are so much good songs on it, why do you play such a few of them...
I've been a Joe Henry fan for many years - certainly before RP was playing any of his stuff. I have yet to get this album, however. He's become a bit more upbeat with his more recent stuff, and considering the 4 tracks that I've heard from Civilians, I'm really liking what I'm hearing (thanks RP)!. 4 good tracks from a CD isn't too common for me, so I have to say that this one will be my favorite from Joe Henry.
Almost Tom Waits like.
Wouldn't it be cool to hear a collaboration between Joe Henry and Wilco?

Improved my afternoon. The Devil is a pauper prince nesting in your hair.
I'm really liking what I'm hearing from this album... runs off to Amazon... again. Oh, and FIRST!! Sorry, I think that's a requirement when you're the first poster.
